Drowning / Crawling / Falling

Drowning in deep water suggests floundering in the depths of the unconscious. As with dreams of pursuit or being chased, this dream alerts you to areas of your unconscious that are creating conflict and need to be examined with care.

Falling and jumping in an attempt to escape from hostile pursuers in a dream is a desperate escape mechanism and suggests that you might have more success if you turn at the last minute to face your enemies, having found the strength to confront them. Dreams in which you are trying to run from something or someone but find you cannot—perhaps because your feet are weighed down or stuck in the mud—can be interpreted in much the same way.

Crawling through a narrow space, tunnel or small enclosure, or trying to squeeze through a tiny corridor or hall points to your creative energies struggling to find expression; these are, however, also common-place dreams expressing anxiety about a challenging and imminent event such as a review at work, an examination or even the birth of a new baby. Being chased, not knowing who or what is out there in the darkness, or vainly trying to push through the crowds in a busy bar, street or department store also suggest that certain repressed aspects of your personality, or unexamined aspects of the self, demand to be dealt with. To be trapped in a dream signifies that you feel you are trapped by outside circumstances. To be aware of trapping something or someone is to try to hold onto them, and if you trap a butterfly or animal, you are trying to capture your inner self. Feeling trapped in dreams also suggests an inability to break free from old patterns of thought and behavior without outside help. See also NEGATIVE EMOTIONS.... The Element Encyclopedia

Fall

A very common dream action generally symbolic of some basic fear in the dreamer’s life, such as fear of a moral lapse, job failure, sexual inadequacy, loss of status, etc.

; however, the prophetic meaning of this dream is, strangely, very similar in that it indicates setbacks but modified by the details of its action.

If, in your dream, you fell a long distance, you can expect the reverses to be general and fairly severe; however, if you landed without hurting yourself, they will be upsetting but quite temporary.

If you hurt yourself, you should be prepared to endure some real hardships for a time.

To fall from a medium height signifies a loss of prestige; to fall to the floor (as from a standing or sitting position) is a warning of danger from false friends.

If your dream involved others falling, it indicates triumph over enemies; and if you fell but got up again, you will overcome the obstacles in your path.

To fall into water means financial stress, but the water factor and condition must also be considered.... The Complete Guide to Interpreting Your Dreams

Interpret your dream by considering your primary fears, current difficulties, and situations in your life that seem to be on a downward spiral, especially those situations that seem outside of your control (financial, romantic,etc.). Some people believe that if you keep falling in your dream and don’t wake up that you will die at the point of impact. This is absolutely not true. In a falling dream you wake up out of fear and not because of danger of dying. Falling

Some dream researchers suggest falling is one of the main themes in dreams. In the sample used for this book, the words fall, falls, fell, falling occur 72 times in 1,000 dreams.

The words find, finds, finding, found occur 297 times. And the words connected with looking and seeing occur 1,077 times.

During our development or growth we ‘fall’ from our mother’s womb when ripe; being dropped by a parent must be our earliest sense of insecurity; we fall many times as we learn to stand and walk; as we explore our boundaries in running, climbing, jumping and riding, falling is a big danger, at times it could mean death. Out of this we create the ways falling is used in dreams.

Example: ‘I am sitting in a high window box facing outwards, with my son and a friend of his on my left. I feel very scared of falling and ask my son and his friend to climb back into the building. I feel too scared to move until they shift’ (Trevor N). At the time of the dream Trevor was working, for the first time in his life, as a full-time freelance journalist. His wife was out of work and his frequency of sales low enough to cause them to be running out of money.

The building behind him in the dream felt like a place he had worked nine to five —security. Falling was failure, getting in debt, dropping into the feelings of self doubt and being incapable.

In general, then, falling represents loss of confidence; threat to usual sources of security such as relationship, source of money, social image, beliefs; tension. Sometimes it is loss of social grace; losing face, moral failure—falling into temptation; coming down to earth from a too lofty attitude, sexual surrender.

Example: ‘I was on a road which led up to the hospital I was put in at three. I felt a sense of an awful past as I looked at the road. Then I was standing on the edge of a precipice or cliff. My wife was about four yards away near the road. I stepped in an area of soft earth. It gave beneath my weight and I sank up to my waist. I realised the cliff edge was unstable and the whole area would fall. I was sinking and shouting to my wife to help me. She was gaily walking about and made light of my call for help. I cried out again. Still she ignored me. I shouted again for her help. She took no notice and I sank deeper, the ground gave way and I fell to my death’ (Barry 1). Through being put in a hospital at three without his mother, Barry had a deep seated fear that any woman he loved could desen him. His fall is the loss of any sense of bonding between him and his wife out of this fear. His death is the dying of his feeling of love and relationship, and the pain it causes. Understanding these fears, Barry was able to leave them behind in later dreams and in life.

By learning to meet our insecurities (perhaps by using the last question in dream processing) we can dare more in life. This is in essence the same as meeting the fear of falling off our bike as we learn to ride.

If we never master the fear we cannot ride. Therefore some dreams take falling into realms beyond fear.

The following examples illustrate this.

Example: ‘Near where I stood in the school gymnasium was a diving board, about 20 ft off the ground. Girls were learning to dive off the board and land flat on their back on the floor.

If they landed flat they didn’t hurt themselves—like falling backwards standing up’ (Barry I).

The school is where we learn. Once we learn to fall ‘flat on our back’, i.e. fail, without being devastated or ‘hurt’ by it, we can be more creative. Going fast to an edge and falling: could mean overwork and danger of breakdown of health.

Example: ‘As I prayed I realised I could fly. I lifted off the ground about 3 feet and found I could completely relax while going higher or falling back down. So it was like free fall. I went into a wonderful surrendered relaxation. My whole body sagging, floating in space. It was a very deep meditative experience (Sarah D). Sarah has found an attitude which enables her to soar/dare or fall/fail without being so afraid of being hurt or dying emotionally. This gives a form of freedom many people never experience. This does not arise from denying or suppressing fears.

Seeing things fall: sense of danger or change in regard to what is represented. Person falling: wish to be rid of them, or anxiety in regard to what they represent; end of a relationship. Child, son falling: see baby; son and daughter under family. House falling down, personal stress; illness; personal change and growth due to letting old habits and attitudes crumble. Example: ‘I was standing outside my mother’s house to the right.

The ground in front had fallen away.

The house was about to cave in. I felt no fear or horror. Instead I was thinking about new beginnings and the possibility of a new house’ (Helen B). Helen is here becoming more independent and leaving behind attitudes and dependency. See house; abyss; chasm. See also flying. ... A Guide to Dreams and Sleep Experiences

Falling

A warning not to be such a realist. It might be better to just let go, as in Abyss, Cliff, Shot, Parachute, Flying, and be more open to something new. Also fear of being destroyed, as in Descent. Points to loss due to miscalculation on the part of the dreamer (see the myth of Daedalus and Icarus) or is a sign of unjustified euphoria and arrogance. This symbol often appears in dreams during times when a person has difficulty achieving orgasm and during acute midlife crisis.

Doubt and insecurity. You need to let go, as in Brook, Leaf, and Parachute. Dreams of falling often appear if you are in the process of transition to a new stage in life. Particularly when you are trying out something new, you will first, just as in the dream, fall flat on your face.

A falling dream happens again and again if you are fighting against your own limitations.

It is very helpful to change falling dreams into flying dreams.

According to Freud, falling dreams are always sexual. In the case of women, the question revolves around giving in to erotic desires (fallen women). Freud has dealt with the symbol of falling extensively in his Interpretation of Dreams.... Little Giant Encyclopedia

Falling

Symbol: A bad fall into an abyss often brings an undcfinable feeling of relief.

Vision: For a woman, dreaming about falling is a metaphor for letting herself go. Falling means that you’re stumbling into an unpleasant situation. Feeling the act of falling, physically, is not a cause for alarm.

It is simply a case of “getting back into your body”—waking up too quickly It might also be a sign of low blood pressure. Falling into a ditch: your reputation will suffer. Falling over something: a certain matter is made clear to you. Stumbling without falling: things could have been a lot worse. Watching others falling: you’re going to unmask your enemies just in time. See Abyss, Fall.

Depth Psychology: Dreams about falling are a sign of the fear you have of people taking the “reins out of your hand,” of losing control. Falling

Falling is a very common dream metaphor and it reflects in our general language. We fall in and out of love, we fall in and out with people, and we fall over ourselves and others. We fall on hard times, we fall from grace and we fall asleep! • Falling captures a primal human emotion. Falling dreams recapture that feeling of being vulnerable and out of control.

• They occur when we feel the ground beneath us has given way, or when we’re feeling particularly vulnerable or insecure as happens when we fall in love or fall out with someone.

• When this dream occurs reflect on what you feel has “fallen apart” in your life or where you feel unsupported or lacking in confidence.... The Premier in Dream Dictionary

Falling

(1) If the falling is a result of climbing or flying, the symbolism is probably straightforward: having ‘got above yourself, you are now paying the price; or the dream may be warning you of possible future disastrous consequences of present behaviour or ambitions - as in the proverbial ‘Pride before a fall’ - in which case your present ambitions are out of tune with your real self, your real capacities.

It is not necessarily a case of conscious self-aggrandizement; indeed, usually one is not conscious of it at all. Hence the need for the dream! Self-inflation may be of two kinds: where the ego is ‘possessed’ by some unconscious factor; or where the ego will not deign to pay attention to the unconscious; or both.

If you are prone to accidents, these may be symptomatic of an ego that is too much under the control of (unintegrated) unconscious forces.

(2) The fear of falling felt in a dream may be symbolic of your real-life fear of letting go. Perhaps the dream is urging you to stop resisting an impulse from the unconscious.

The anxiety expressing itself in a dream of falling may best be dealt with by letting yourself go with the fall, with a view to both finding out what it is that you are frightened of and finding a way of transforming the anxiety-response into a more positive and creative response. Strephon Kaplan-Williams recommends that you stay with the falling in the dream itself (having prepared yourself to do so beforehand), not wake up before the end of the dream. As a way of preparing yourself to do that, you might try writing out the dream again - or re-living it in imagination - only this time letting the fall complete itself. You may learn a lot from this. Falling

Normally, dreams in which you fall are the result of “falling while sleeping,” provoked by physiological causes. However, in symbolic terms they express a loss of emotional balance or self-control. Maybe you are afraid, in real life, of letting yourself get carried away. Anxiety is closely linked to this dream. It reflects insecurity, low self-confidence, fear of failure, or inability to take care of a situation. (See ABYSS)

Falling

This is a dream about the loss of control.

A fall is one of the most frequently occurring dream images, and all human beings have experienced this at one time or another.

A fall can be very frightening; however, the real danger is not the fall itself, but the sudden stop that is likely to follow. Therefore, the real source of the fear associated with this symbol is what may occur, and the anxiety about not being able to directly impact the outcome of a situation.

The deeper meaning of falling dreams is that the highest road to take in any difficult situation is to surrender yourself to the lack of control you are experiencing. In any situation where there is no control to be had, letting go is the only powerful choice to make. Most dreams of falling do not end in landing, further cementing the symbolic connection of this image with surrender. Where and how you land will be directly tied to the quality of your descent.

The more graceful the fall, the more likely you will benefit from where you wind up.

The context will offer you subtleties of meaning by examining the way you are falling in your dream. Falling backward indicates not being able to see the direction you are taking. Facing forward might enable you to see what you are facing, but your fall still indicates lack of control. Spiral twisting is an even stronger loss, as in spiraling out of control.

The amount of fear felt in the dream is the barometer of how much unconscious fear is being suppressed.

A fall that is easy and flows with a sense of surrender might be telling you that you are ready to let go of control in some situation. Falling in a dream could be compensating for some area in your life where you are reaching higher than is appropriate to your current circumstances or level of development.... Falling

Falling, and the accompanying sense of vertigo, is, along with flying, one of the most often reported dream topics. Falling dreams typically occur during the first stage of sleep. Dreams in this stage are often accompanied by muscle spasms of the arms, legs, and the whole body. Sometimes when we have these falling dreams, we feel our whole body jerk or twitch, which provokes us to awaken.

Typically, the act of falling in dreams suggests loss of control and anxiety in the sleeper’s waking life. The anxiety could be related to work, or it could be related to sexual inhibition or low self-esteem. Such may be the fear of the fall that you could awake with a jolt.

If this occurs, it is important to remember the circumstances of the fall in your dream, as this will help you understand its hidden message. According to Freudian theory, dreams of falling indicate that you are contemplating giving into a sexual urge or impulse. You may be lacking indiscretion. According to biblical interpretations, dreams about falling have a negative overtone and suggest that man is acting and walking according to his own way of thinking, and not that of the Lord.... Falling

Dreams of falling are extremely common. They may be prompted by your fear of heights in waking life.

If this isn’t the case, falling dreams may be your dreaming mind’s way of drawing your attention to feelings of frustration and loss of control. In which area of your life do you feel you are ‘falling down’, slipping or losing your place? Are you anxious about schoolwork, your love life, your career or your domestic life? Dreams of falling can be associated with feelings of loss of control or letting yourself down; sometimes the sensation is so terrifying that your conscious mind jerks you awake mid-flight. If, in your dream, you fall and were unharmed, this is a clear sign that your current situation is less uncertain than you think. Whatever the scenario in your dream, if falling is a part of it, your unconscious is urging you to identify the source of your feelings of uncertainty and try to find a solution even if that means accepting something less than you hoped for, or accepting your limitations. Falling / Drowning

There is an old wives’ tale that says if you dream you are falling and you hit the bottom, you will die. This is not true. Falling is one of the most common nightmares amongst people of all ages, and may be a reflection of feeling insecure, helpless or of having no support or solid grounding. Dreaming about drowning is less common and often occurs when you feel overwhelmed. Both scenarios involve life-or-death situations and can be traced back to prehistoric origins; dreams of falling reflect a time when our ancestors took risks when climbing trees. Falling dreams of modern life often take place from high buildings, elevators and rooftops. Likewise, dreams of drowning relate to our inborn need to breathe for survival. Famous People / Film Star

1- Most of us are capable of creating an ideal person on whom to project our fantasies and wishes. We are not at this stage particularly in touch with reality. In dreams a film, pop star or public figure will represent the Animus or Anima (See Introduction).

A young person dreaming of a film star may not be ready for the responsibility of a real relationship.

2- Famous people, pop or film stars may also serve in dreams as a projection of the type of person we would like to be. We may, for instance, in real life be shy and withdrawn, but need to be admired and loved.

3- Spiritually, as we reach for perfection we need to ‘work through’ various aspects of our personality. Sometimes we arc able to reject such aspects as not being appropriate for the life we live.

For instance, we may realise that the destructiveness of a public life would take its toll within our own lives.... Ten Thousand Dream Dictionary

(2) Gold, as something valuable, may symbolize either your true self, as distinct from your conscious ego, or some faculty in your psyche which, if accepted and activated, could bring you closer to your real self.

(3) Gold fruit (like the golden fleece) features in mythology as a hero’s prize for overcoming monsters or other evils. This symbolizes the rewards of facing up to the contents of the unconscious, taming those that - through neglect - have become wild or aggressive, and integrating them into your conscious life.... Jason And The Golden Fleece

Jason’s voyage to find the Golden Fleece can be interpreted by Jungians in the following way. Jason, the archetypal hero, must slay the dragon guarding the fleece; the dragon represents those dark impulses of his that he has to overcome if he is to attain the spiritual purity symbolized by the fleece. Unfortunately, Jason only defeats the dragon with a magic sleeping potion, leaving his dormant impulses undefeated.... The Element Encyclopedia

Star

(Astral; Celestial spheres; Constellation; Dog star; Moon; Procyon; Sirius; Stars) In a dream, a star represents the best and the most noble of people. Seeing the stars scintillating with lights and gathered inside one’s house in a dream means that great people, or some of the leaders of the country will meet at that house.

If the stars are gathered in one’s house, and if their light is dimmed in the dream, it means that such people will secretly meet in that house under constraint, or because of a calamity. Holding a star in one’s hand in a dream means begetting a noble son who will grow to be a great leader. Stealing a star in a dream means stealing a valuable thing. Seeing a star falling from the skies in a dream means that a calamity will befall that place and it will particularly affect the life of a great and noble person, or it could mean the death of the governor of that town. In general, stars in a dream represent political leaders, the most knowledgeable of scholars, the most noble ofpeople in the society and the richest ofthe rich. Seeingmany stars inside one’s house in a dream also may signify having a large family. Seeing the seven major stars, or the fixed stars of the solar system in a dream represents the trades, businesses, knowledge and the leadership in the land. Each of such stars brings a different luck. Seeing a brilliant star in a dream means happiness and leadership.

If a rich person sees the skies without stars in a dream, it means loss of his wealth.

If a poor person sees the skies without stars in a dream, it means his death. Holding little stars in one’s hand in a dream means acquiring fame and presiding over people. Seeing a star over one’s head in a dream means becoming renowned and surpassing one’s associates, or it could mean serving in a high ranking position. Ifone sees brilliant stars gathering in one place in his dream, it means that he will reap benefits from a business trip, or safely return home from such a successful business trip. Riding a star in a dream means leadership, strength and wealth.

If one sees the stars fixed under his roof in a dream, it means a calamity, or destruction of one’s house, or it could mean the death of the head of the household. Eating stars in a dream means swindling people of their money. Swallowing a star in a dream means mixing with noble people and sharing one’s personal life with them, or it could mean insulting or slandering the companions of God’s Prophet upon whom be peace. Sucking on a star in a dream means learning at the hands of great scholars or a wise shaikh.

If a fortuneteller or an astrologer sees himselfeating stars in a dream, it means that he will be selected to fill an important job from which he will prosper. As for the majority of people, eating stars in a dream means death. Seeing the stars scattered in a dream means the death of great leaders or scholars, or it could mean a war. Seeing the stars falling down on earth then disappearing, or the lights of meteors entering the earth atmosphere in a dream, represents a great destruction and death.

The falling of small stars in a dream signifies the death of unknown people and the meek ones, while the falling of large stars represent the death of renowned people. Seeing the stars falling from the skies also could mean becomingbald or losing one’s hair. Whereby, the stars represent one’s hair and the skies represent one’s head. Seeing the stars during the daylight time in a dream means scandals, notoriety, or major events and calamities. Seeing the morning stars in a dream means a wedding. Becoming a star in a dream means acquiring wealth and fame. Seeing stars that denote the comingofwinter in a dream means distress and sorrow, while seeing the stars that denote the coming of summer in a dream mean happiness and good living.

Star

See Light, Comet.

The inner core, the image of guidance and hope. In dreams and fairy tales, this symbol is always connected with the fate of the hero (he was “born under a good / bad star”). Just like the hero, you are also following your star, meaning following your inner desires and longings in order that life may be bright and shiny.

To follow your star means to be clear and to know your own needs. Following your own desires, longings, and needs presupposes the courage to be unconventional, which in turn will bring about new insights and a more fulfilled life.

When the sun—the symbol of consciousness—has gone down, stars appear in the heavens, so in a real sense stars are the “light” in the darkness.

Star

As radiant energy, a star may appear in a dream to represent your own radiant qualities and as a sign of self-fulfillment. It may make a wish come true, as in “Wish upon a star.’ Or it may lead you to destiny, tame, and recognition. Starlight in dreams offers the light in the darkness, which is like a beacon to follow. It may arrive as a sign of the birth of a new idea. It may also reflect your connection to the cosmos.

• Four-pointed star: The star of Bethlehem is the four- pointed star that appeared in the sky as a sign of the birth of Christ. This star is associated with Sirius, the Dog Star, which for the ancient Egyptians represented heavenly power. In your dream, it may be a sign of a great spiritual awakening or the birth of Christ-like qualities.

• Five-pointed star: The pentagram with its five radiating points is the insignia of the goddess and a symbol of her fertility and creativity.

The same five radiating points are found in the flora within nature, from the morning glory to the violet blossom. This star symbolizes the creative power within nature.

The Wicca tradition uses this star as a symbol of protection and power As a more modem symbol, it appears on the American flag to represent the states and, therefore, uniqueness and individuality.

If the five-pointed star appears on a pair of Converse sneakers in your dream, it may recommend that you step into your personal power.

• Six-pointed star: The Star of David, a symbol of the Judaic tradition, consists of two interlocking triangles merged together. This symbol joins the power of the heart with rhe power of creativity to manifest love. It may also signify the union of heaven and earth. As a sign, it points to the return of the Messiah or true king.

• Twelve-pointed star: The twelve pemts symbolize twelve principles of spiritual attainment through service. They are love, charity, hope, compassion, truth, light, creativity, faith, honor, enlightenment, joy. and peace.... Ariadne's Book of Dream

Like The Star card in the Tarot deck, dreaming of a single bright, shining star is a sign that even if things seem bad, there is still hope, and that your desires and destiny will be fulfilled, possibly through the efforts of a friend.

If the dream displays a clear sky full of many bright stars, great success lies ahead, but if the stars are pale or obscured by clouds, there will be a period of poverty before you finally attain your goals.

Star

As a glow in the dark, the star is a symbol of the spirit. This represents an option only reserved to the chosen one (in the rites of Mithras, for example, it is stated: “I am a star that shines and walks with you from the deepest”). The pentagram is the most common. In the Egyptian hieroglyphic system it means “elevation to the beginning.” Consequently, dreaming of stars symbolizes ideals and hopes. However, if you imagine them falling rapidly or if they are very pale, it rather means a future misfortune.

Formerly it was believed that when a person died, she or he would become a star.

Star

The star is a symbol of success or aspiration in modern life. The star is a shape that is widely used to represent a variety of tangible and intangible things. Stars are used to decorate birthday presents and are seen on balloons and cards congratulating us for success: ’You’re A Star!’ The star is used as a symbol to represent law enforcement agencies, and is used on lapels to represent high military rank, as in a four star general. Most religions look above to the Divine and stars seem to be sprinkled along the path to higher consciousness

A five-pointed star that is written or drawn is called a pentagram, whilst the same star enclosed by a circle is called a pentacle. This symbol has been used in many religions for centuries, such as Judaism and Christianity, as well as in pagan and Wiccan belief. In pagan religions and in alchemy, the five points of the star represent the four elements and the Divine: earth, air, fire, water and spirit. The suit of pentacles in Tarot represents prosperity and abundance.

If you dream of drawing a star, you may be mapping out your success. A five-pointed star or pentagram suggests harmony between mind, body and spirit. In magical tradition it is a symbol of protection and, when depicted pointing upwards, it represents goodness; when it is pointing downwards, however, it represents evil

A six-pointed star or Star of David represents the reconciliation of opposites into a harmonious whole. Sometimes called the Seal of Solomon (a defensive symbol in Kabalistic magical belief) and sometimes the Creator’s star (because its six points can be equated to the six days in which God created the world according to Judeo-Christian tradition), the hexagram is better known as the Star of David, the national emblem of Israel. It is a geometric figure which symbolizes the union and development of physical, social and spiritual elements of your life.... The Element Encyclopedia

Star

The planets, stars and constellations have been considered good-luck omens since the earliest times. Dreaming of them represents your wish to guide your own fortune, hence ’wishing upon a star’. In general, they suggest exciting new opportunities as long as you possess the necessary self-belief. To view the twinkling of a star on a dark night portrays a birth, either physical or symbolic, whilst to imagine a five-pointed star was once thought to be a sign of great wisdom. Dream stars can also represent intuition and insight. The Pole star aids navigators and may act as a symbolic guide to the unconscious. A shooting star or meteorite can suggest a flash of inspiration, or a memory of someone in the past or someone dead, as many cultures believe that human spirits manifest themselves as stars. On the other hand, you might want to consider whether your dream star symbolized your ambitions, hopes and dreams in some way. Teeth Falling Out

You are feeling insecure about some area of your life. Teeth serve three primary functions. They allow us to process our food so we can nurture ourselves. They express joy when revealed in a smile, and they can indicate aggression when exposed in a snarl. All of these things—nurturance, joy, and protection—connect directly to security and well-being.

If individuals cannot nurture themselves, attract loving connections, and protect themselves from danger, the basic constructs of a secure life are not likely to be available to them. Without these three important parts of life, fear will prevail. Therefore, when this dream image appears, issues of personal security are at the forefront of your unconscious expression. There are various levels of intensity associated with this symbol. It can fluctuate from a slightly loose tooth to having all your teeth crumble out of your mouth in a bloody mess.

The scale of intensity of the dream will indicate the amount of fear being expressed. Whether it is a general fear of being out of control, looking bad, aging, or some other issue of unmet needs, the appearance of this dream indicates underlying insecurity in some area of your waking life.

The teeth are used for chewing, and this association can indicate a need to “chew on something for a while,” as in mulling over a choice or course of action. “Sinking your teeth into something” refers to taking on life wholeheartedly. Losing your teeth in a dream could indicate an inability or unwillingness to do so. Losing our teeth as children is such a powerful rite of passage. On some level, losing your teeth in a dream will connect to the process of growing up, even in adulthood.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

Teeth Falling Out Or Crumbling

This dream might have a physical origin in people gritting or grinding their teeth during sleep. Freud suggested that dreams of teeth falling out are related to fears of castration, but women have this dream as often as men, suggesting that tooth troubles in dreams are related to hidden anger, with a dreamer acting out the clenching of teeth. Other dream analysts believe the dream reflects anxiety about appearance and how others perceive you. Teeth can also represent a means of assimilating knowledge so it can be used. Teeth are the first instruments of the digestive system, so in dreams they represent the acquisition of knowledge.

Losing teeth is a common symbol in a dream, indicating a change in the way the dreamer assimilates what is learned.... The Element Encyclopedia

Three

Three is tense, dynamic, rhythmic, and complete (the Holy Trinity). Three is a symbol of the spirit, since it is assigned to the third stage of human consciousness (after the physical and emotional). In the Middle East, three is considered a holy number.

It is always connected to time: past, present, future. In ancient Rome the Fates almost always appear as three goddesses. Since ancient times femininity has been seen in three aspects: the virgin (Artemis), the woman (Hera), and the old woman (Hekate). Faust calls out three times until Mephisto appears. Peter denies Christ three times. Doing the same thing three times has magical effects— it represents the connection to reality.

According to Freud, refers to male genitalia. Jung considers three a mystical number; the three servants of the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute; the three witches in Macbeth; the three wishes that are free. All this relates back, as do many god-trinities, to the original trinity: father-mother-son.

It is the male child, since the number three, according to Western tradition, is uneven and, as a prime number, a genuine male number. In this tradition, the male child is seen first in terms of male fertility.

According to Jung, the number three is connected to the diabolical.

The den of craving in alchemy is depicted by a three-headed snake.

The three-headed snake in mythology is always Satan. Also, according to Jung, three belongs to the young; and in ancient China and the Greek patriarchy, it points to masculine attributes and their function.

On the other hand, Three as a feminine number is part of the tradition in the area of the Mediterranean, through the veneration of Mary in Catholicism and the rediscovery of the matriarchy. Also, Goethe’s play Faust, Part II, ends with a prayer to the great goddess appearing threefold: “Virgin, Mother, Queen.”... Little Giant Encyclopedia

In general, Three always points to something new that is created from things that have already existed. Negatives and positives can be united—in the external as well as in your personality. Three

When two are gathered, eventually their energy will create a new element, and a third is born. Three is the number of creativity and is a powerful energy. There are many examples of the concept of three: mother, father, and child is perhaps the most universal.

The Holy Trinity in Catholicism is another instance.

The artist, the paint, and the finished work is just one case that can be applied to any creative endeavor. In music, a triad is the simplest and perhaps most pleasing harmony. In the world of geometry, it is only when you have three points to work with that you can create an actual shape.

The shadow challenge of three is a lack of grounding and separation from reality. This is because three relates so strongly to the drive to create that feeling unable to do so would be the fear-based side of this energy.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

Waterfall / Fountain / Spring / Rapids / Well

Dreams of a waterfall or rapids may be referring to birth, especially ones in which you are swept along in a warm stream of water through a tunnel and emerge into a pool or lagoon, as it is thought that we all carry the memory of birth in our unconscious. On the other hand, the dancing waters may be reflecting your sense of happiness and exuberance in waking life. A dream of a fountain (suggests womanhood) or a hosepipe (suggests manhood) may have a sexual connotation.

If the jet was weak, then it may suggest that sexual desire is not matched by emotional commitment (or the other way round) A steady flow of water is probably symbolic of confidence in waking life.

In dreamland, springs can represent a source of untapped creativity and they can also hint at wisdom, because another name for spring is fount, suggesting ‘fount of all knowledge’. Wells in dreams can hint at emotional rebirth or good fortune, as wishing wells have been credited with wish- fulfillment for centuries. So if you dreamed of drawing water from a well, what is it that you long for? Because wells are sources of water, it could be that your waking life has become emotionally dry and that you are thirsting for a revival of feeling.... The Element Encyclopedia
