Breast

Usually, to be aware of breasts in a dream indicates your connection with the mother figure, and your need to be nursed and cared for. Does a part of you long to again be an infant without responsibilities? Alternatively, breasts represent sexual arousal and raw energy. Seeing naked breasts can also denote a feeling of exposure and invasion of privacy. In particular, for a woman, the dream may indicate anxieties about becoming a woman / mother.

If a chest appears in a dream, this indicates a sense of social confidence or good feelings about yourself. Alternatively, it represents feelings of being overwhelmed and being dangerously confronted by something. Consider also if the dream is telling you that there is something that you need to ‘get off your chest’.

Breast, Buttock And Genital Injuries

Dreams about breasts are likely to be sexual. Swollen breasts may be connected with the desire to have children, although you need to consider who or what the baby you’d like to have represents. A dream of being kicked or hit on the buttocks is a clear symbol of some kind of disapproval in waking life—perhaps self-disapproval. Dreams in which you are beaten or whipped may have a straightforward sexual meaning, but they could also refer to an overambitious friend or colleague.

If you are the person doing the beating, is the dream referring to your ambition? If a man dreams of injury to his genitals, it may be highlighting his fear of impotence; for a woman, such dreams may highlight her anxiety about reproduction or sexuality. A dream of castration can be terrifying for a man as it alludes to his whole sense of power and virility.... The Element Encyclopedia

Breasts represent maternity, sweetness, and safety. The dream reveals the emotional need and desire to return to the safety of childhood. For a woman, the image could signify pregnancy; for a child, protection; for a man, satisfactory sexual relations. According to Freud’s vision, this dream alerts to the possibility that the dreamer depends too much on a maternal figure. (See BABY, MOTHER, WOMAN, and CHEST)

Cage

General Meaning: To have your freedom taken away.

A place of restriction and oppression. Dreams • In interpreting a cage in an internal dream, I would not see a positive connotation to it unless your enemies were in that cage! In dreaming that you are in a cage or being held captive, it would represent your lack of freedom.

• This would indicate that you are bound either by your circumstance, by your past or by some form of oppression.

The enemy keeps you in bondage while the Lord gives freedom.

• The mind can often be a cage in that it restricts you. Your analytical mind could be stopping your progress.

A cage also represents fear, which could indicate being bound by a fear of the past that has been exposed again in your life.

• In personal experience I have seen people in cages and the Lord has told me that they have put themselves in the cage. One such case was a woman who had a fear of opening herself up to the Lord. I saw her in a cage and the Lord being able to only pass small objects through it to her.

The interpretation was that because she had closed off her heart to the Lord out of fear, He could only give her small blessings because of her restriction.

• Visions • I could not find a positive connotation for a cage in Scripture either.

A cage in an external dream or vision speaks of the deceit and devices of the enemy.

It is a warning of a trap that has been set, or it is a word of knowledge that the person you are ministering to is in bondage.

• Jeremiah 5:26 For among my people are found wicked [men]: they lay wait, as he that sets snares; they set a trap, they catch men.

• 27 As a cage is full of birds, so [are] their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and become rich.

• It is a place of evil and a place where the enemy and his evil works abound Revelation 18:2 ...and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

Cage

YVhat is in the cage - whether person or animal or bird - almost certainly represents yourself or some part of yourself.

(1) The cage may symbolize the (felt) restrictions of your present life situation. But the restrictions may be self-imposed, albeit by means of unconscious processes - for example, internal prohibitions arising out of irrational guilt-feelings.

(2) Some part of you may be crying out for liberation. (For repression and suppression) Wild and dangerous animals are kept in cages.

It is likely, therefore, that what is caged in your dream is a part of you that frightens or disgusts you by its animality. Refusal to accept that you belong to the animal kingdom may result in your living in your head entirely, with the body - primitive energies and drives - locked out of consciousness. But a disembodied head, cut off from Nature’s vital energy and Nature’s wisdom, can only lead to trouble. Particularly in the West, where for two centuries even religion has rejected Nature (the feminine side of God), we desperately need to get closer to Nature, not remove ourselves even further from it.

(3) On the other hand, a bird in a cage may represent frustrated spiritual aspirations. Perhaps you are spending too much time and energy in work that brings you only money. Any contradiction between

(2) and (3) is only apparent. You can’t climb - even to spiritual heights - without your body, without the primal energy and wisdom of your unconscious. To attain the ‘higher’, first go ‘deeper’. The liberation - uncaging - of our deeper psychic contents so that they become pan of our conscious equipment will enable us to transcend the limitations of our past and present.

Cage

The cage has different meanings depending on what it inside of it. So, if it contains a bird, this dream predicts friendship and love, and shows you know how to enjoy life. On the other hand, if the cage is empty, the image expressed a clear feeling of disillusion and disappointment.

If you see yourself caged, it is a sign that the unconscious wants to express its complaints, since you are subjected to heavy repression by the conscious. You have become a very strict judge of yourself and limit your acts and thoughts too much, which prevents you from expressing yourself freely. However, if wild beasts are caged, you have to interpret this dream as the retention of inner conflicts that torment you, in which case this oneiric image has some similarity to the previous (in which you are locked in a cage).

Deformity / Dismemberment / Paralysis

A dream in which you find yourself deformed in some way is most likely a selfcritical dream; its interpretation will depend upon what body part or body parts are disfigured.

If you find yourself deformed in your dream, in what way do you feel disabled or frightening to others in waking life? Or have you been crippled by an emotional situation and been unable to do anything about it? Has someone in waking life hurt you? A dream of someone else’s deformity may be symbolic of a deformed part of yourself, but it might also be showing you some distasteful part of another person’s personality of which you were previously unaware. A person with a deformity in your dream may represent the trickster archetype mocking your own pretensions, although for Freud it represented a fear of male impotence, and for Jung it was a symbol of the devouring mother. A limp can be a warning from the unconscious of those dangers of pride and ambition that bring humiliation rather than success upon the dreamer.

If you are using crutches in your dream, are you relying on crutches, such as alcohol, nicotine or controlled drugs, in waking life?

Very often dreams of paralysis and numbness may be induced by the dreamer’s arm or leg going to sleep as the result of a trapped nerve.

If this is not the case, dreams of being unable to move (as if rooted to the spot) may be equating paralysis with frigidity; in waking life, the dreamer might suffer from fears of sexual intimacy. Your dream may also be referring to an area of your life in which things have stagnated or not progressed as they should have. This will usually be an emotional paralysis or a feeling of helplessness in a particular situation in your life. For example, you may be caught between a spouse and a lover, or between two possible courses of action. Dismemberment of your body in a dream suggests feelings of powerlessness in waking life. Is some situation tearing you apart or do you need to take your feelings apart?... The Element Encyclopedia

Diseased, Dismembered, Injured And Deformed Body

If the body is diseased in a dream, this suggests a sickness of attitude or it could simply indicate extreme emotional and physical fatigue. A dismembered body indicates emotional and mental distress; perhaps you are tearing yourself apart over something or someone, or your life is falling apart. Half a body dream images suggest a lack of balance in your life between your outer and inner life.

If the top half of your body is missing, this indicates lack of reasoning and emotional intelligence.

If the bottom half is missing, this relates to loss, or denial of instincts and sexuality.

If the body is injured or you see injuries, this suggests emotional scars or hurts, or repressed anger.

If the body is cut open, this indicates a vital change within yourself or the release of emotional tension.

In times past, such dreams were interpreted as the release of ‘evil spirits’, hence the association of a sometimes painful release of tension.

Loss of limbs in a body usually indicates a sense of inadequacy, sometimes connected with the limb that is lost. For example, loss of legs could suggest an inability to stand up for yourself or someone dependent on you. Loss of an arm could indicate an inability to influence other people, or to give and receive.

If your body is burnt in the dream, this suggests an emotional scar, and if the burn is painful, this suggests that you are relating to this hurt in an unhelpful, self-destructive way. If, however, the burning isn’t painful, it has a more positive interpretation: feelings of potential and new beginnings.

Marks on the body in a dream suggest things you carry with you in life, or experiences that have marked you.

If your body is crawling with maggots, this indicates the need to cleanse your body of toxins, infection or resentment. A murdered body in a dream represents aspects of your life that you find hard to deal with, such as anger towards a family member. Sometimes such anger may be a way of avoiding the real issues involved and, if this is the case, the dream murder may show how you feel about being ‘murdered’ by lack of love or trust.

If you are pulling things out of your body in your dream, this suggests growing self-knowledge; you are becoming aware of thoughts and emotions of which you were previously unaware. See also SICKNESS AND HEALTH.... The Element Encyclopedia

Dreams And Self-knowledge

Dreams help you see yourself as you are: your true inner beauty, your potential, where you are both missing and getting the point of lessons you are working on. Nothing is more important than to know yourself. This makes all things on all planes in all realities easy. My channel has explained, "You do not have to suffer to grow. This is not what God intended, not His concept at all. It should be delightful to learn to know yourself. You are all going to make mistakes, and some things will seem awkward and uncomfortable at first. But if you can go out as children with eagerness and curiosity for learning, you will begin to understand what a wonderful adventure living really is. "Nothing is unchangeable. When you dream of a particular problem or situation in your life, remember it is given to you in order that you may creatively resolve and move beyond it. "The most difficult program to break is viewing change as something frightening, difficult, painful, or a lot of hard work. If you want to make life hard on yourself, this is your choice. God is patient. There is an eternity to learn that living is joyous and effortless. You create your life daily. You can choose to change it at any time. When you tire of running from lessons, you can make joyful progress very quickly. "The key thing is to have the eyes to see and the ears to hear. Some people have this when they incarnate, others take longer to develop it. This is the ability to sort out truths from all teachings, experiences and people around you. Lessons are being presented to you constantly, whether through your own or someone else's life. You can learn a great deal by watching other people interacting with one another. Watch and observe, but do not judge. This is the key with both self and others."... Dreampedia

Facial Injury / Facial Deformity

A dream of a face is likely to be about the image you present to the world, so a swollen face may refer to self-importance and a blemished face to a character weakness or defect. A dream of injuries to your eyes or ears may simply refer to being unable to see or hear—or unwilling to see or hear—what is going on around you, rather than to any disease. A dream of being struck on the mouth or slapped across the face suggests an inability to get your point across, whilst dreams of injuries to your nose suggest difficulties getting to know other people intimately in your life.

Hair is an important sexual symbol for both men and women, so dreams of being forcibly shaven might be a symbol of castration or a sign of subjugation. Baldness in the dreams of both sexes suggests anxiety, not about going bald, but about a lack of intellect, either your own or someone else’s. Dreams in which your teeth fall out are very common and almost always associated with self- image or fear at having spoken out of turn (See also Tooth entry in BODY).... The Element Encyclopedia

Information Processing

According to modem theory, the amount of information the human brain can hold is more than is held in all the books in the Library of the British Museum. Gradually it is becoming recognised that information gathered is not simply what we ‘learn’ from vocal communication, or read, or set out to leam. In fact an unimaginable amount of information gathering has gone on prior to speech, and goes on at an unimaginable speed prior to school years. Consider a small preschool child walking into the garden It has learnt gradually to relate to muscular movement, balance and its own motivations and feeling reactions in a way enabling it to walk. It has already grasped thousands of bits of ‘information’ about such things as plants in the garden, the neighbour’s cat, the road outside, possible dangers, safe areas. Stupendous amounts have already been absorbed about interrelationships.

An idea of ‘reality’ in the sense of what is probable, and what would be dangerously out of norm, has been formed. We gather information in ways little recognised. How our parents relate to their environment and to other people is all recorded and leamt from, bringing about enormous ‘programming’ affecting how we act in similar circumstances.

As explained in the entry on the dream as spiritual guide, we have great ability in ‘reading’ symbols, ritual, an, music, body language, architecture, drama, and extracting ‘meaning’ from them. So we have immense stores of information from these sources. Work done with people exploring their dreams over a long period suggests that some of these information resources are never focused on enough to make conscious what we have actually learnt. Sometimes it is enough simply to ask oneself a question to begin to focus some of these resources. Such questions as what social attitude and response to authority did I learn at school? What feeling reaction do I get when I am in the presence of someone I know well? These may help to bring to awareness aspects of information gathered but remaining unconscious. These unfocused, or unconscious, areas of information can explain why we have apparently irrational feeling responses to some people or situations.

the body A lot of what we call the unconscious are basic physiological and psychological functions.

For instance in a modern house, when we flush the toilet, we do not have to bring a bucket of water and fill the cistern again.

A self regulating mechanism allows water to flow in and switches it off when full. This is a clever built-in function that had to be done manually at one time. Nowadays we have built into some dwellings fire sprinklers or burglar alarms. Through repeated actions over thousands or millions of years, many basic functions, or functions only switched on in emergencies, have been built into our being. We do not need to think about them, just as we do not have to give awareness to the fire sprinkling system or toilet each time we walk through a room or flush the toilet. They are therefore unconscious.

Research with animals in connection with rewards and conditioned reflexes has shown that by gradually leading an animal towards a certain performance by rewarding it each time it gets nearer to the goal, it can do the most amazing things. It can increase the circulation of blood to its ear, slow its heart, and in fact influence body functions which were thought to be completely involuntary. Where human beings have learnt to use some of these techniques—such as raising the temperature of an arm at will, or helping to increase the efficiency of the immune system—the actual processes still remain unconscious. In general, however, the body’s functions are thought to be outside our awareness, and so are one of the areas of the unconscious. ... A Guide to Dreams and Sleep Experiences

Making Life Easy On Yourself

If you know yourself, then your life works. You do not have problems in one-to-one relationships. You do not set yourself up to be rejected or dumped on, lied to or ripped off. You do not set yourself up to be bored or frustrated, for you are in tune with and following your creative life path. Remember that no one is going to take you by the hand and lead you step by step along the way. If you want insight, ask and you will receive. But you must make your own choices and decisions. It is your life. You are the writer, producer, and director, and you are playing all the roles. Create  whatever you want. You have total freedom. It is only your thoughts that limit you. Your dream symbols help you look at the very thought patterns that are governing your life. Dreams take you to a higher level of consciousness and understanding which has the power to transform your life and your world. The whole purpose is to see objectively the life situations you are creating, survey the limitations and obstacles imposed through your own beliefs, and understand how best to work around or eliminate them. As you work on your own growth, all others will benefit; they will see your light, your knowledge and your truth.  ... Dreampedia

Performing On Stage

Life can often feel like a performance. In this way, dreaming of this image indicates that your unconscious is expressing a sense of your current life as being under public scrutiny. This is a common recurring dream, signifying the dreamer’s sense of feeling exposed or a fear of performing up to standards.

The subtlety here is in whether you are on stage because of heightened vulnerability or because you are hiding your true feelings by “acting” your way through an experience. By considering the timing of the dream with regard to current situations in your life, you can discover your true sense of preparedness for what is being thrown at you at the time of the dream. By examining this thoroughly, you can assess whether this dream means you are feeling incompetent to face a challenge in life or if you are feeling prepared to perform at your peak capability.

A highly stylized performance could indicate inauthenticity in some area. Conversely, it could connect to a powerful sense of creative originality. Forgetting your lines may represent your discomfort in some role or false persona you are putting on for the approval of others. Life is often like a performance. How you feel about this dream reveals how you feel about how well you are performing at this moment in time.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

Performing Salaah In The Ka’bah

If a person sees himself performing salaah in the ka’bah in the proper manner, observing complete ruku’ and sajdah and adopting inner serenity and outer calmness, then it means that he is rightly divided by Allah and steadfast upon the sunnah of Rasoolullah (sallallaahu-alayhi-wasallam). For, salaah is the main pillar of Islam(after Imaan) and a link between Allah and His servant.

But if the salaah is defective, lacking in Khushoo’ and Khudoo’ (i.e., Inner serenity and outer calmness and composure) it suggests that he has no regard for Islam and his contempt for it is equivalent to the mistakes he makes. Questions To Ask Yourself If Dreaming Of Celebrities

To fully understand the message of a dream in which a celebrity features you need to hone in on the quality they represent and decide whether it pertains to someone you know, or to some aspect of yourself. First you need to consider the outstanding trait for which that celebrity is famous, then you need to think about what makes that person stand out for you. For example if you dream of Madonna, why didn’t your dreaming mind select another female singer, for example Shirley Bassey? What is it about Madonna that inspires you? Is it her drive, her ambition, her feistiness or her ability to reinvent herself? Try to spell out in your mind the qualities this person stands for and what trait is being shown. Then consider the implications. Celebrity dreams may seem sweet or even corny, but they do have a powerful energy.

If you think the celebrity represents a quality in yourself you’d like to foster, don’t assume you have to copy them and follow their life path. Remember dreams only depict the essence of something; the way you choose to put that energy to work, and how it appears in your life, is entirely up to you.... The Element Encyclopedia

The Self

Our conscious self or ego is only a tiny pan of our totality, as is obvious when we consider how much of our memory or experience we can hold in mind at any one time.

The self, as defined by Jung, is both what we are consciously aware of, and the massive potential remaining unconscious.

The self has no known boundaries, for we do not yet know the end of what the mind is capable of, or what consciousness touches out of sight of waking.

The mass of experience and awareness which lies in the background of our waking awareness is like an inner guiding factor which, apart from expressing precise pieces in the form of remembered facts and events, guides us, if we listen, through intuition, feeling states, dreams or illumination. Its symbols are: a ring, a square area, a great tree, Christ, a shining being or animal, a talking animal, a strange stone or rock, symbols like the cross or mandala, a round table, God, a guru, an elephant, a crowned or shining snake. Here are some examples of the self in dreams.

Example: ‘1 am climbing a tree to get a stone. This stone has special powers that flower. I’m nearly there when I look down and notice that there aren’t any branches on the left side of the tree. This causes me to consider the possibility of falling and that in turn leads to a fear of climbing any higher. I wake with my heart beating strongly, but little feeling of fear.’ Example: 41 lopk into the third square, it was filled with an iridescent blue colour, shining and beautiful to look at, a beautiful substance. I felt it had to do with religion, but I couldn’t quite grasp it.1 Example: ‘I was in a small town with a group of men. We were standing in a small square praying. As I prayed I realised I could fly.’

Awareness of what the self holds is important. It contains what is our own personal wisdom and insight regarding life in general and particular.

It is not full of creeds and dogmas and conflict as are organised attempts to express the spiritual. But it does have its dark side.

To grasp the stone with special powers, understand the significance of the iridescent blue square, or find real uplift in prayer as these dreams depict, we need a clear rational mind which allows intuition and feeling but is not relinquished or lost in the immensity of the self. Touching the vastness of our being we may feel ourself to be vast, all knowing, a guru. In this state, Jung says, a person loses all sense of humour and drops ordinary human contacts. Functionally what happens is that as a defence against meeting our pain and childhood trauma as we enter this vast storehouse of our being, as a way of escaping the self responsibility for our condition, one might fly off into feelings of loving all things, of knowing the mystery of it all, of being the Buddha.

The problem is that while it might be true we are in essence the Christ, or have wisdom, these realisations are distorted by the undealt-with childhood traumas and longings. See aura; mandala. ... A Guide to Dreams and Sleep Experiences

The Self

The most important archetype of all is the self—the higher, more spiritual aspect of the personality. In dreams it can appear in many forms; most typically as a child or baby, suggesting vulnerability, freshness, spontaneity and potential. It can also be symbolized by the circle, the cross, and the mandala figures that Jung was fond of painting. (See SYMBOLS.) To a woman, the self may also be presented as a wise old woman, priestess, fairy godmother, biological mother, queen or princess. To a man, the self may manifest as a king, priest, wise old man, guru, prophet or philosopher.... The Element Encyclopedia

Transformation

(Changing form) Transformation by substitution in a dream where one thing is converted into something else.

If a withered tree is transformed into a blossoming one in a dream, it means political changes, changes in worldly conditions, or reversal of conditions from good to bad, or from bad to good. This element includes the transformation of inner substances or physical ones.

For example, if sees himself as an old person in a dream, when in real life he is young, it means progress in his spiritual life and gaining honor.lfhe is an old person and sees himself as a young boy in a dream, it means indulging in wrongdoing.

If one sees a known old person regaining his youth, it means that the material conditions of the person seeing the dream will turn around to one’s advantage or otherwise. i.e., richness into poverty and vice-versa, or ifhe is sick, he will recover from his illness.

If one is transformed into a beautiful shoot of green or a blossoming branch of a tree in a dream, it means that he may die within a short time. Becoming taller in a dream means longevity, prosperity, or begetting a son. Ifone finds himselfmissing partial mental keenness or physical abilities or a limb in a dream, it means that he may suffer losses relating to his worldly interests.

If a man sees himself transformed into a woman, and wears her apparels, ornaments and make-up in a dream, it means that he may suffer humiliation, adversities and abuse.

If a woman sees herself transformed into a man, or if she grows a beard in a dream, it means that she will reestablish her connection with a missing child. As a man in the dream, and if she is pregnant, it means that she will beget a son who may die in his early youth, but if she is not pregnant, it means that she is no longer fertile. Ifone sees himselfflying with wings in a dream, it means travels.

If one sees himself transformed into a wooden staff in a dream, it represents his insolence.

If one sees himself transformed into an iron rod in a dream, it means longevity. Ifone sees himself transformed into a bridge in a dream, it means that he may become a ruler, a wise man, or a man of knowledge whom people will seek to benefit from his wisdom.

If a person sees his sick child turn into a bird in a dream, it means the death of the child.

If one sees himself turned into a beast in a dream, it means that he will be segregated from the believers to live alone because of his evil qualities.

If one sees himself turned into a deer, a gazelle or an antelope in a dream, it means that he will become obsessed with his sexual life, or that he will become mentally deranged to the degree of indulging in bisexual practices. Ifhe turns into a pig in a dream, it means prosperity surrounded with absence of human dignity.

If one sees a steer transformed into a wolf in a dream, it represents a government employee who will turn unjust. However, according to Islamic interpretations of the human transformation into a lower category of creatures phenomena, if such transformation takes place in real life, it connotes a curse and a punishment, and it does not last for more than three days, and it will culminate in death.

Transformation

Any dream in which an obvious change occurs in one of the dream figures shows transformation. Each of us go through major transformations during growth— not just physically, as when we change from a toothless baby to a walking, toothy child, but also psychologically.

Example: ‘On a hot summer day I was walking with a beautiful black woman through countryside. She stopped and told me she had a problem.

To show me she pulled down the strap of her dress. On her shoulder the black skin was peeling to reveal golden white skin underneath. She said that if she kept seeing me she would become completely white. She was going to ask advice from her mother about what to do. As we walked on two black men fought with me. They wanted to take her back to the village. I woke feeling I was winning’ (paraphrased from The Way of The Dream, Fraser Boa). Here the dreamer is relating well to his own feelings of sexuality and sensuality. However, he is beginning to see a female partner as a real person, not just as his sexuality paints her. Also, the reference to seeking advice from the mother suggests his ability to love is still not freed from emotional and erotic connections with his mother, and needs transforming. One often hears people, even in their 40s, saying It is difficult (developing a relationship) with that person because my mother doesn’t like them.’ The dreamer ‘fights’ the opposing drives, which want to take the man’s love back to the village, his childhood level of love—thus he moves towards becoming independent in love and life.

The transformation is towards mature love and relatedness.

Transformation

1- Dreams where obvious changes occur and things are transformed into something else suggests a shift in awareness.

A landscape may change from dark to light (negativity to positivity), a person may change from masculine to feminine or one image may change into another. Once the dreamer understands the change is for the better, he is able to accomplish changes in his own life.

As the growth to maturity takes place, there are many transformations which occur. These arc often depicted in dreams as immediate changes, like a speeded-up camera filming an opening flower.

Transformation takes place in spiritual terms when freedom of thought or action is indicated, or when higher impulses are substituted for lower reactions.... Ten Thousand Dream Dictionary

Transformation

Dreams in which obvious changes occur, and people and things are transformed into something or someone else, suggest changes in awareness. A landscape might change from dark to light (negative to positive), a person may change from male to female, or objects may take on human characteristics. These changes are often depicted as occurring immediately in dreams, like a speeded-up movie, and they reflect changes in waking life.

Bizarre transformations of objects into living things, such as a pencil turning into a snake, a doll into a donkey or a table into a swarm of wasps, suggest untapped potential within you that can help you cope with change. To clarify what this potential is, refer to the symbolic interpretation of the objects that have been transformed. Shape-shifter dreams, in which people you know suddenly transform into something else, typically a monster or beast, represent unpredictable people in your waking life. For example, someone might be kind and caring towards you until they transform under the influence of alcohol. On the other hand, the shape-shifting may be some kind of moral test.

Can you uncover the beauty behind the monster’s mask? What lies below the outer skin of the dream beast? Try to make a connection to your waking life.

Sudden changes from winter to spring in a dream, or from night to day, may also suggest new directions and developments in the dreamer’s life.

If the other way round, and the switch is from day to night, or spring to winter, this may suggest the need to confront and deal with dangerous impulses.

If the landscape suddenly becomes unfamiliar in your dream, this can point to an unwillingness or an inability to cope with the new. However, if the new environment is welcoming and friendly this is a positive sign. A return to the comfort of the childhood home or a familiar environment is widely interpreted by Freudians and Jungians as a desire to return to the security of the womb during times of change and conflict.

If something is transfigured in a dream, such as when an object or person is surrounded by light, this suggests that light has entered the person during a period of transition and they are becoming more self-aware.

If you become invisible in your dream, it can indicate that you feel ignored in waking life—that you and your life are insignificant to others. It can also mean that you are hiding from others or yourself.

If you have this type of dream, it might be time to look at how you present yourself to other people.... The Element Encyclopedia

Transformation

A man’s first close relationship with a woman is with his mother, so a dream in which his mother transforms into another woman can be symbolic of a kind of growth, as it shows that he can let his mother go. Depending on the circumstances of the dream, this transition indicates some kind of positive or negative change in his perception of women. By the same token, a woman’s first relationship with a man is typically with her father or brother and to progress onto fuller relationships she must learn to walk away from those relationships.

Therefore if she dreams that her father transforms into another man, this indicates some kind of positive or negative change in her perception of men, although much depends on the circumstances of the dream and the woman’s feelings about it.

Dreams in which parents, family members or partners behave completely out of character—for example, your gentle mother transforms into a cruel tyrant or your teetotal father transforms into a raging alcoholic—can be extremely unsettling, as they turn what you regard as accepted truths on their heads. Such dreams have little to do with real-life family members or loved ones; far more are they to do with unresolved aspects of either your life or yourself that you need to confront and work on in order to find fulfillment. In such cases, your unconscious mind may have conjured up parental or family archetypes to bring neglected issues to your attention or to warn you of an authority figure who presents a threat to you in waking life. For example, perhaps the controlling father in your dream represents your boss who is stifling your individuality, or your nurturing dream mother is telling you to mother yourself or someone close to you.

The dream could be manifesting your conformist feelings. Or, contrarily, it may alert you that you should be less individualistic and consider the needs of the group that surrounds you.

If you dream that you are wearing a military uniform, it indicates that you are trying to reduce your responsibilities in your community. In the case that the uniform is full of medals, it denotes that you are authoritarian: you impose your standards by force without allowing others to express their opinions.

According to popular superstition, this dream foretells a trip full of adventure and of special interest for your marriage problems.

analysis of a dream

Ricardo dreamed: “I was wearing a military uniform and my family marched according to my orders: ‘One, Two, Three, and! Turn, and!’ They were all very firm, rigid and obedient, and I felt proud of my control. We marched through the street and the neighbors watched us from the windows with expressions of admiration.”

Ricardo had this dream in a time in which his family disintegrated. His wife was being difficult in the divorce negotiations, and his adolescent daughter threatened to go live with her boyfriend and leave her studies. The dream reveals his desire to put his family life back in order and avoid the circumstances that had escaped his control. His subconscious was recommending that he be more strict and energetic in enforcing his opinions. Up until then Ricardo had always given in to his wife’s and daughter’s desires, and his life was uncontrolled. The fact that the neighbors approved of his conduct from the windows reflects his need for recognition, which he only felt in this important moment of his life.... The Big Dictionary of Dreams

Uniform

A uniform is a symbol itself; the nature of the outfit defines the wearer very specifically in a particular role, as uniforms are designed to be instantly recognizable for the discipline they relate to. In order to understand such a dream, you must first identify the uniform itself and the qualities associated with someone who might wear it. In most cases, the archetype most associated with a uniform falls in the warrior category, which relates to the principle of dividing everything into either right or wrong. To dream of wearing a uniform is to desire to connect to the energy that the uniform represents.

Uniform

A uniform such as that of a sailor, soldier, and policeman carries with it the association of that profession. So, if you dream of wearing a policeman’s uniform, it may indicate feelings of having to establish law and order, or needing to keep a watchful eye on your community.

If you are wearing an army uniform, are you someone with a need for more rules and greater self- discipline? Uniformed And Professional Authorities

Uniforms are symbols of depersonalized authority in dreams, so if your dream featured images such as soldiers in uniform or policemen on duty and you were the only one not wearing a uniform, this may reflect your waking sense that you are falling out of line in some way or have deviated from what is expected from you. Did you try to fit in or did you assert your individuality and non-conformist nature?

If members of various professional bodies appeared in your dream, such as doctors, dentists or pilots, try to make a link with the profession they represent and the relevant area of your waking life, as your unconscious may be offering you inspirational or helpful advice.

When the main point of interest in your dream is the occupation or profession, there is typically a good reason why your unconscious has highlighted that particular job. For example, members of the caring professions in dreams, such as nurses, nuns, charity or voluntary workers, may suggest a more compassionate side to your nature, or the side of yourself that has a vocation in life. In men, these images may suggest the importance of non-sexual relationships. For more information about specific occupations and people at work, see SCHOOL AND WORK.... The Element Encyclopedia
