If you or someone else was crying, screaming or laughing in your dream, this may be a confirmation of how they are feeling in waking life. Similarly, if you woke up laughing, screaming or crying after your dream, could these vocalized emotions be expressing the happiness, excitement and sadness you are experiencing in waking life? Or were you crying for help or screaming in terror? Have you been repressing powerful emotions in waking life and did venting them in dreamland give you a sense of release?
Dreams of crying may function as a release for the sorrow or grief that has been holding you back consciously or unconsciously in waking life. Alternatively, such dreams may be an intuitive awareness of something ending or someone leaving in your waking life; or are your tears crocodile tears?
Dreams of laughing suggest a release of tension or an attempt to put yourself and others at ease. Depending on your feelings during the dream and on waking, the laugh may however be a sign that you are hiding the truth or taking things too lightly, as sometimes laughter can hide sadness and the truth. Bear in mind that laughter can also be a sign of contempt, and if someone laughs in your face, your unconscious may have used the archetype of the Trickster in an attempt to make you rethink something or reconsider your values. When the laughter becomes the kind of cackling associated in folklore with wicked witches and mischief-making, this may represent your inner voice questioning and ridiculing your pretensions.... Waking up laughing from a dream, or remembering a dream image in which you laugh unworriedly, is one of the most pleasurable sensation that the subconscious gives. Almost always it is a mechanism of compensation for moments of stress and anxiety. It could also be a reflection of your god sense of humor and mood in real life. Without a doubt, this dream lets you start the day with more optimism and happiness. When another is laughing at you it is possible that a part of your personality reproves your behavior when you are awake.
It is also a sign of the fear of making a fool of oneself.
LAUGHING - analysis of the dream
Joaquín dreamed: “It was a dream that I have very often. I explain a funny joke and begin to laugh alone without stopping. I am surprised by my ingenious and sense of humor and I take joy in it. Hahahaha... I am so funny! Then I wake up dying of laughter, wanting to share it with someone. Hours later when I think dying of laughter, wanting to share it with someone. Hours later when I think about it to tell it to a friend, it seems like senseless nonsense.”
Dreams of humor rarely make sense in the light of day. However, waking up laughing is one of the most pleasurable sensations that the subconscious can give us. In Joaquin’s case, these dreams served to relax the daily tension that he dealt with. As an air traffic controller, Joaquin worked under a lot of pressure, in which a sense of humor or distraction had no place. In the dream world, his subconscious displayed his fun and humorous side in compensation. When Joaquin has these dreams he wakes up happy and optimistic, facing his work day with less tension.... At its very basic level, we all have fears and feelings about death, and the appearance of Spirit helps us to come to terms with these. It will depend on the dreamer’s own personal belief system as to whether he or she feels they are actual spirits or not.
When spirits appear in dreams, their function may be to help us through various states of transition. While we cope with everyday fears, there are many unconscious memories and feelings which can surface unexpectedly. When we are conscious of a kindly or helpful spirit we arc aware that we can move on. When we sec the spirits of dead people we usually need reassurance.
During spiritual development, our perceptions widen from the ordinary everyday to other aspects and dimensions of knowledge that have become available to us. Whether these arc aspects of our own personality or of the spirit realm is immaterial, since ultimately their function is to help the dreamer progress.

You feel you are being haunted or berated by someone who has died. There may be feelings of terror, guilt, resentment or abandonment. These dreams may occur when you feel guilty or responsible for a death, or anxious about a situation. Although they are quite rare, these can be among the most uncomfortable dreams we can ever have. The flip side to such dreams is a dream in which we are being guided by the dead or a spirit or angel. These usually occur during times of active grief, which can last years. Visits from a deceased loved one may give you the feeling that they are OK, or inspire you to change your life. In either case, there may be a feeling of hope and comfort. Even the most prosaic and materialistic of us have dreams that include supernatural creatures or incidents.
Ghosts, witches, out-of-body experiences, UFOs, haunted houses and a whole plethora of spirits, creatures and unexplained phenomena exist in the world of the supernatural. When these images appear in your dreams, they can be unsettling, especially when psychics claim that they are connected with the supernatural. Even though there is no evidence to suggest this is the case, the mysterious and often bizarre nature of dreams has led many to interpret dreams as supernatural gifts or messages, as predictions of the future or as messages from the past. Modern oneiromancy, the prediction of the future through the interpretation of dreams, is a tradition that has its roots in pagan and ancient Greek and Roman thought, as well as in the Jewish and Christian religions.
Freudians and Jungians, together with most other dream analysts, reject the supernatural origin of dreams. Their view is that dreams bubble up from the unconscious mind and are metaphors for events or emotions occurring in our waking lives. Theologians, however, continue to admit the possibility that dreams may be supernatural or divine in origin. Whether or not you believe dreams have a supernatural origin, if you are experiencing such dreams, your unconscious might be urging you to be more open-minded towards unexplained phenomena; alternatively, they might be suggesting a need for radical change in your life or attitude.
