Baby

Many people from time to time will have babies or small children in their dreams.

If these newborns are strangers to you, you can assume that they represent you. You are the baby and the dream is telling you something about your development in a particular area of your life. At times of great change and renewal, a baby may appear in a dream and represent your potential and a new beginning. Some of the meaning of the dream may be obtained by considering what the baby looked like and was doing. Generally, babies represent innocence and are symbols of the purest form of a human whose possibilities are endless. However, if the babies appearance is odd, and if your interactions with it are bizarre or unusual, you need to consider your own well-being (psychologically) and think about what personal experiences and psychological hang-ups have prevented you from growing.... Baby

General: one s own feelings and urges at that level of development—such as possessiveness, joy, curiosity, innocent love, infant trauma; feelings of helplessness; vulnerability, lack of responsibility; being cared for. Also a new phase of life; a new idea; new activity—as when we say someone has a new baby, meaning a new project or business. When with a couple: the marriage—what is created in a relationship; the life process in us, based on reproduction. In a woman’s dream: desire for baby; responsibility of caring for baby; worries about having healthy baby. In a man’s dream: desire for parenthood; weight of responsibility; fear of inability to produce. In child’s dream: themselves at that age; feelings about a baby sibling.

Example: ‘I have my own baby who is lying in a cot in a bedroom looking very weak and pathetic with eyes closed. I know that he or she is getting weaker and weaker through lack of food and care. In fact the baby seems to be dying.

The feelings of guilt are terrible because I know it is my responsibility to do something to make it well. I keep saying to myself I must go and feed that baby—but I don’t. I just keep worrying and feeling guilty’ (JC). Because of circumstances we may not have been able to satisfy all our babyhood needs—we may have been weaned earlier than we wanted, our need for attention may have been unsatisfied—and these are shown as a baby in our dreams, as with JC. Dreams such as the above show how we sense the need of this pan of us to be cared for and nourished.

If some of these earliest needs are not met in some way, the development of our enthusiasm, our pleasure and ability to be involved and self-giving, may be cunailed.

Example: ‘I am 48, have two children in their late teens and definitely DO NOT want another baby. Nevertheless I have a recurring dream in which I am always in labour, experiencing no pain, and although there are nursing staff I am in some sort of laboratory, although everything is very pleasant. I never actually give birth and when I wake I always have a vague feeling of disappointment’ (VI). This dreamer’s conscious decision to have no more children is in conflict with her biological urge for another baby.

Example: My mouth was full of what looked like liver. It was also coming out of my left ear. When I turned away from the mirror I saw medical people in caps and gowns who kept telling me to bear down. I then gave birth to a baby out of my mouth. I am an invalid and very sick at present’ (Mr MS). This man’s dream is about preparation for death.

The baby is the extraction of all that can live on after his present life is left behind in death. ... A Guide to Dreams and Sleep Experiences

Baby

See Child.

A dream known to be good, good news, success, and advancement.

A wish is fulfilled, a childhood wish. Or, it may suggest that the dreamer is childish and immature, wanting to be taken care of. Often this image corresponds to a feeling of helplessness. This is also the symbol for a loved one (“my baby,” “sugar baby,” etc.).

If the baby is perceived as a threat, the dreamer might be afraid of an accidental pregnancy, as in Abortion. Also, it may suggest fear of letting go of one’s children.

In another context, longing for rebirth and a new beginning. Always ask yourself what you would do differently if you could start over again.

If the baby is someone else’s in the dream, we need to be aware of that person’s ability to be hurt, or that they may be innocent of something. Psychologically we are in touch with the innocent, curious side of ourselves, with the part that neither wants nor needs responsibility.

Baby

General Meaning: Babies have a twofold meaning. They represent being given a new responsibility. Secondly they speak of having trust, vulnerability and innocence.

• In a negative light, they speak of immaturity.

• Dreams • Positive: A baby speaks of a new life and a new aspect in your life and ministry.

A baby boy often speaks of a teaching and leadership type of ministry, whereas a baby girl speaks of a more prophetic or creative emphasis in your ministry.

• If you dream of a baby that suddenly matures beyond its age (for example it is a newborn that can walk already) this indicates that the new thing that has taken place in your life is going to mature fast.

• If you dream of having twins, this speaks of having either a ministry or gaining a responsibility that is twofold or that has two different aspects to it.

• The dream is indicating that you should nurture both aspects and not take one or the other.

• If you dream that someone else you know hands you their baby, this could speak of that person giving you either their responsibility or ministry mandate.

• This depends of course on what this person would represent in your dream.

If they are an image to you of a ministry type, then it would speak of the Lord giving you this kind of ministry also.

• If the person giving you the baby is a spiritual parent, then this would speak of them handing their mandate over to you.

• If the person handing you the baby is someone that has a negative connotation in your life, then this would be negative and speak of you being put under pressure to take something you do not want or something that is not of the Lord.

Negative: If you dream that you lose your child or baby, it means that you have neglected and lost the promotion in the spiritual realm that God was giving you.

• If you have been trusting God for something specific and dream that you lose a baby, it could mean that you have lost your faith or that a curse is causing that blessing to be lost.

• If you dream of neglecting your baby, it means you have not been using your spiritual gifts.

• If you dream that you are taking another person’s baby, it means that you have taken on responsibilities that are not your own.

• A baby and child also indicate that this spiritual gift is yet young in you. It means that you are yet immature in that calling.

Visions Positive:

Babies speak of a new life and also of trust. They speak of innocence and purity. They are not yet corrupted and have strong faith. This is why Jesus told us to be like little children. Children also speak of the blessing of the Lord.

• If you see someone in the spirit with many children around them, it could be that the Lord is calling them to become spiritual parents. It can also indicate that the Lord has many blessings in store for them.

• 1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babies, desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow by it • Babies receive with innocence what they are fed and hunger for it.

To see someone as a baby would indicate that the Lord wants them to receive without asking questions.

To trust the Lord completely as Jesus explains in this passage: • Matthew 11:25 At that [kairos] time Jesus answered and said, I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden • these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to babies.

• If you see someone you are ministering to as a baby in the arms of the Lord, the message is that the Lord wants them to rest in Him.

To be a baby and to trust that He will care for them.

Negative: If you see a baby in the spirit, it could mean that the person you are ministering to is still a baby in their spiritual walk.

If I am counseling a person and see them as a baby, this could also indicate hurts from the past that started at that age that need inner healing.

• If you have a vision that is negative then it could also speak of birthing things that were not conceived by the Lord, but rather by the flesh or from the enemy.

Baby

(see also Birth, Child)

(1) A baby commonly appears in the dreams of pregnant women. Usually in such cases no symbolism needs to be looked for.

(2) In other women’s dreams a baby may express (unconscious) desire for a baby.

(3) The baby may represent vour own vulnerability, or vour need for love. This applies to both men and women. When the ‘babv’ within vou - the hurt, frustrated self - cries out, it is very difficult to look at yourself objectively, but an effort must be made to see this frightened or rejected child as a part of yourself that needs your love. It may be that this self-pitving part of you is crying out for another person’s love, but in the first place, at least, the love must be given by you: you (the conscious, decision-making ego) must positively love yourself (the sensitive, hurt ‘child’ within your psyche). Only that way will the child in you grow up and mature.

(4) A baby may symbolize your pure, innocent, true self: what vou rcallv are - or were intended to be - as distinct from what various kinds of conditioning and wrong choices have made you.

(5) The babv may represent some new development in your personality or in your personal life.... A Dictionary of Dream Symbols

Baby

Dreaming of a baby means that you are happy and alive, wanting to create. It represents something new in your life that is calling your attention. It also denotes that new ideas or feelings are rising from your inner self. On the other hand, it might reveal a deep desire to return to your origins and discover your true personality. In this regard, it symbolizes the pure and uncorrupted nature of the subject. Perhaps, the dream manifests that you are innocent of an indictment that concerns you.

If you are turned into a baby it may reflect need for love and protection. Of course, this dream can also express the paternal or maternal instincts and the desire to make them come true. (See MOTHER, WIFE, and CHEST)

Baby

A baby is a new idea, relationship, event, direction, project, etc.

The essential meaning of a baby as a symbol connects to the new life it represents. Babies grow up to become adult human beings, but in their infancy, they embody all the potential that has yet to be expressed. In this way, a baby in a dream is likely to be expressing some new chapter in your life that is just beginning and has yet to unfold into full manifestation.

The age of the baby may give clues as to when the consciousness that it represents was born.

A one- year-old baby may indicate a new shift in your life that began a year before you had the dream.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

Baby

Babies are very complex dream symbols that represent everything from the rebirth of the self, the emergence of new possibilities in your life, or being rendered helpless and vulnerable. Even a new baby in the dreamer’s life may be indicated by this dream, but not always.

This symbol often shows up when the dreamer is entering a new phase of life, which is like giving birth to oneself. Bad dreams in which a baby is deformed, has injuries, or is stillborn are not uncommon for parents who are anxious about the pregnancy, especially for expectant couples who have never had children before. Even though it feels like a dreadfully horrible nightmare, it’s usually nothing to be taken seriously, unless it becomes a nightly event. (Also see Embryo, Miscarriage, Pregnant).... Baby

If a baby is born or appears in your dream, were you the proud parent? If you were, this suggests a budding talent or creative potential that is just emerging.

If you give birth to two or more babies, this may symbolize groups of ideas or personal talents. On the other hand, it could also suggest that you need to lavish extra care and attention on your ‘brainchild’ if it is to be a success; if the dream baby is premature, this message is stressed further.

If you are looking after someone else’s baby in your dream, it could indicate that in waking life you feel as if you have been left ‘holding the baby’ in some way. Did you enjoy holding the baby or feel panicked by the responsibility? If you felt anxious, maybe you are worried about the responsibility that has been placed upon your shoulders in waking life. Pay attention to the behavior of the baby.

If the baby is happy, this suggests that you are fulfilling the needs of your brainchild, but if the baby is distressed, this suggests that your idea, project or talent isn’t being developed or cared for.

If you lost or injured a baby in your dream, this can suggest a loss of confidence on your part and an inability to put in the hard work required to see a project to completion.

If you are the parent of a young baby and you have this kind of dream, it could indicate that you are finding it hard to cope with the demands and responsibilities of caring for a baby in waking life. Your unconscious could also be highlighting your sense of guilt about not being a perfect enough parent and your desperate need for time to yourself.

If, however, procreation in waking life is not at the forefront of your conscious mind, dream babies may be an expression of an unconscious counterpart trying to acquaint you with the baby, or your own inner child, within. This is an aspect of yourself that is dependent on others for financial or emotional support, or the part of you that longs to be reborn and relive your life again. Or perhaps this ‘baby’ is a part of the personality or aspect that has not been ‘born’ or expressed before.

If your dream baby is born with an adult body and a baby head, this suggests an approach to life that is still immature.

If your dream baby is born with a baby body and an adult head, it suggests adult intellect but emotional and sexual immaturity.

If the baby is beautiful, gifted or remarkable in some way, this represents the emergence of personal insight and previously unconscious elements of yourself.

A baby boy in your dream suggests the birth of a new phase of self- expression and new activities and achievements, whereas a baby girl suggests new aspects of feeling and relationships with others.

If the baby is crying, this indicates that your fundamental needs for love, support, comfort and happiness are not being met. Is there something distressing you at a feeling level that you are not acknowledging? If you drop a baby in your dreams, this suggests carelessness in dealing with your basic needs, especially as it concerns connection with others. It can also refer to a mistake or missed opportunity, or a feeling that someone has dropped or lost interest in you.

If the baby is smiling, this suggests a deep level of comfort, security and satisfaction.... The Element Encyclopedia

Box

A box is believed to be a feminine symbol that represents the unconscious, the mysterious and the maternal.

The famous Pandora’s Box held all the forces of good and evil in it. Pandora opened the box and unleashed its wrath into the world. She was able to close the box and in it hope. Thus, it is said that hope remains.

(Pandora’s Box was not really a box at all, but a jar!) The interpretation of the box in your dream depends on the details of the dream and on the content of the box. Just remember that the box is symbolic of mystery, secrecy and of something precious.

The box in your dream might represent potential that needs to be realized and that will slowly come to your conscious awareness.

Dreaming of a box suggests that risk taking may be necessary and that you may discover power and wealth that currently may be in the unconscious.... The Bedside Dream Dictionary

Box

(1) For Freud a box, like anything else that is hollow, represents the womb or the vagina and is therefore a feminine and principally sexual symbol.

(2) A box may also represent yourself, your own psyche. Opening the box would signify a resolve to get to know yourself.

If the box contains something precious, it probably represents your true or essential or deep self, a rich store of energies and powers and wisdom and love.

(3) If the box in the dream fills you with fear - like Pandora’s box, from which all kinds of pestilential things came - there are at least three possibilities:

(a) It may symbolize your unconscious. The powers, instinctual drives and buried emotions that are kept out of sight in the unconscious layers of the psyche are things that have at some time in the past - possibly in

childhood - frightened you or been associated with frightening experiences. The wav forw ard is to cultivate their acquaintance and give them their proper place in your conscious life.

(b) If you are a man, the box may represent the negative aspect of woman (or the feminine) as the feared femme fatale luring you to destruction, or the possessive and devouring mother depriving you of your independence. In that case, you need to become acquainted w ith the feminine side of your own nature (anima) and / or come to terms with and deal with your (buried) feelings towards your mother (for anima). See also Woman. (For man, woman is an ambivalent reality, desired and feared. In mythology Pandora exemplifies this ambivalence - as do most goddesses. ‘Pandora’ means ‘all-giving’ or ‘all gifts’ and w’as probably originally a name given to the Earth Goddess, giver of all life. It w’as only later - at a stage of development w here male deities were the supreme gods and female deities had been demoted to subservient roles - that Pandora was seen as a symbol of woman as the source of evil.)

(c) It may represent any source of disaster. Is there anvthing w ithin you or in vour home or working environment that is threatening you or making you anxious?... A Dictionary of Dream Symbols

Box

When a box is opened, previously hidden items are unveiled. So, this dream can be a symbol of intellectual exploration because you are discovering the contents of your psyche.

If what you find in the box displeases you it may refer to your fears or aspects of yourself that you want to hide. In case of a safe, what you keep in there will be your most precious intimacy, possibly, your best qualities. In the Greek myth of Pandora’s box, the malignant part of the woman who wants to have everything is represented. The oneiric- psychological analysis of this story establishes it represents man’s fear for the dark and feminine side of his nature. It can also refer to the way the unconscious projects the complex and negative attitudes in real life.

If you force a safe in order to open it, the omens say you will not marry the person you currently love.

Box

Boxes have a complex range of meanings, so deciphering the meaning of a box that appears in a dream is often difficult. For Freud, boxes represented the womb or the vagina. Much depends on one’s circumstances and on the particular disposition of the box in a dream. During a move, boxes in a dream might simply reflect the moving experience. Certain common metaphors, such as “feeling boxed in,” can be expressed by boxes in dreams. Boxes may contain danger (as in “Pandora’s box”) or gifts (a “gift box”).... Reptiles, Lizards, Snakes

Our basic spinal and lower brain reactions, such as fight or flight, reproduction, attraction or repulsion, sex drive, need for food and reaction to pain. This includes the fundamental evolutionary ability to change and the urge to survive—very powerful and ancient processes. Our relationship with the reptile in our dreams depicts our relat- edness to such forces in us, and how we deal with the impulses from the ancient pan of our brain.

Modern humans face the difficulty of developing an independent identity and yet keeping a working relationship with the primitive, thus maturing/bringing the primitive into an efficiently functioning connection with the present social world.

The survival urge at base might be kill or run, but it can be transformed into the ambition which helps, say, an opera singer meet difficulties in her career. Also the very primitive has in itself the promise of the future, of new aspects of human consciousness. This is because many extraordinary human functions take place unconsciously, in the realm of the reptile/spine/lower brain/right brain/autonomic nervous system. Being unconscious they are less amenable to our waking will. They function fully only in some fight or flight, survive or die, situations.

If we begin to touch these with consciousness, as we do in dreams, new functions are added to consciousness. See The dream as extended perception under ESP and dreams.

frog

Unconscious life or growth processes which can lead to transformation (the frog/prince story); the growth from childhood vulnerability—tadpole to frog—therefore the process of life in general and its wisdom. Frogspawn: sperm, ovum and reproduction.

lizard

Example: ‘My wife and I saw a large lizard on the wall near a banana. It was there to catch the flies.

The lizard turned so it was facing away from us—head up the wall. We then were able to see it had large wing-like flaps which spread from its head in an invened V. With amazement we saw on these flaps wonderful pictures, in full colour, of birds. In fleeting thoughts I wondered if the bird “paintings” were to attract birds, or were some form of camouflage. But I felt cenain the lizard had “painted” these wonderful pictures with its unconscious an’ (David T). Generally, a lizard is very much the same as a snake, except it lacks the poisonous aspect; awareness of unconscious or instinctive drives, functions and processes. In the above dream, the banana is both David’s pleasure and sexuality, while the lizard is the creativity emerging from his unconscious through the attention he is giving it—he is looking at the lizard. Chameleon: either one’s desire to fade into the background, or adaptability.

snake

Example: A small snake about a foot long had dropped down my shirt neck. I could feel it on the left side of my neck Fearing it was poisonous and might bite me, I moved very slowly. At one point I put my head on the ground, hoping the snake would wish to crawl away. It did not. Then I was near an elephant I loved, and hoped it would remove the snake. It did not. Even as I slept I felt the snake was an expression of the attitude of not shanng myself with anybody except family’ (David T).

For months prior to the above dream David had experienced a great deal of neck pain. After discussing the dream with his wife, and realising much of his thinking and feeling was intumed, the pain disappeared. So the snake was both poisoner’ and ‘healer’. This may be why snakes are used as a symbol of the medical profession.

The Hebrew word for the serpent in the Garden of Eden is Nahash, which can be translated as blind impulsive urges, such as our instinctive drives.

So, generally, snakes depict many different things, but usually the life process.

If we think of a person’s life from conception to death, we see a flowing moving event, similar in many ways to the speeded up films of a seed growing into a plant, flowering and dying.

The snake depicts the force or energy behind that movement and purposiveness—the force of life which leads us both to growth and death. That energy —like electricity in a house, which can be heat, power, sound and vision—lies behind all our functions. So in some dreams the snake expresses our sexuality, in others the rising of that energy up our body to express itself as digestion—the intestinal snake; as the healing or poisonous energy of our emotions and thoughts.

Example: ‘I was in a huge cathedral, the mother church. I wanted to go to the toilet/gents. As I held my penis to urinate it became a snake and reached down to the urinal to drink. It was thirsty. I struggled with it, pulling it away from the unclean liquid. Still holding it I walked to a basin and gave it pure water to drink’ (Bill A). Here the connection between snake and sexuality is obvious. But the snake is not just Bill’s penis.

It is the direction his sexual urges take him he is struggling with. Out of his sense of love and connection with life— the cathedral—he wants to lift his drive towards something which will not leave him with a sense of uncleanness. Snake in connection with any hole: sexual relatedness.

A snake biting us: unconscious worries about our health, frustrated sexual impulse, our emotions turned against ourselves as internalised aggression, can poison us and cause very real illness, so may be shown as the biting snake. Snake biting others: biting remarks, a poisonous tongue.

A crowned or light-encircled snake: when our ‘blind impulses’ or instinctive or unconscious urges and functions are in some measure integrated with our conscious will and insight, this is seen as the crowned snake or even winged snake. It shows real self awareness and maturity. In coils of snake: feeling bound in the ‘blind impulses’ or habitual drives and feeling responses. Instincts and habits can be redirected, as illustrated by Hercules’ labours. Snake with tail in mouth: sense of the circle of life—binh, growth, reproduction, aging, death, rebirth; the eternal. Snake coiling up tree, pole, cross: the blind instinctive forces of life emerging into conscious experience—in other words the essence of human expenence with its involvement in pain, pleasure, time and eternity; the process of personal growth or evolution; healing because personal growth often moves us beyond old attitudes or situations which led to inner tension or even sickness. Snake in grass: sense or intuition of talk behind your back; danger, sneakiness. Colours: green, our internal life process directed, perhaps through satisfied feelings, love and creativity, into a healing process or one which leads to our personal growth and positive change; white, eternal aspect of our life process, or becoming conscious of it; blue, religious feelings or coldness in relations. See colours; anxiety dreams; death and rebirth, the self under archetypes; dreams and Ancient Greece; cellar under house, buildings; hypnosis and dreams; jungle; paralysis. ... Snake / Snakes

If the snake bit you
In this case, the snake likely has less to do with others in your life, and more to do with you specifically, your health.

The meaning of a snake bite in a dream can be counterintuitive: “The bite is similar to a shot being administered,” Loewenberg says. “So if a snake bites you in a dream, ask yourself if there are any health issues that are beginning to get better or an emotional wound that seems to be healing.” Or, “the snake bite could signify that you are the victim of someone’s critical or ‘biting’ remarks.”

A venomous snake
Dreaming of poisonous snakes heralds the advent of bad events. The snake bites can be seen as “poisoning” your life. Furthermore, the snake reflects bad and deceptive behavior, or even difficult life events (problems).

It can either mean that your thoughts are toxic and poisonous, or you keep surrounding yourself by something that is poisoning your life (bad people, addictive substances, junk food, doubts or worries).

Being strangled by a snake in a dream
You are about to say something that you might regret later. This dream wants to protect you from doing so. In other words – think twice, speak once.

Being chased by a snake
The snake that chases you expresses a sense of internal danger. There are many possible causes – from the fear of maternity to the fear of success at work. The dream is a mirror of reality, so you should understand it as a challenge to understand everything that is still unconscious.

If you do not recognize a particular person in the snake that is chasing you, start thinking about what is bothering you in general. Think about what stresses you out the most, because these are probably unnecessary worries that make your life more difficult.

A snake that ignores you in a dream
You’re afraid of losing something valuable. There will probably be no loss, but the fear of it greatly limits and stresses you out. You may be afraid of losing valuable things, a car or a house due to distraints, but in fact, you will not lose anything.

Fear of being bitten by a snake in a dream
You are unnecessarily putting yourself in a challenging situation where you are losing or don’t have full control over your life because you are weakened and are thus a simple target for people with bad intentions. That can be frightening; often this indicates a fear that someone in your life is going to cause you harm. Evaluate your relationships and consider which ones are toxic. If there’s someone who might hurt or betray you, it’s time to come to terms with it. On the other hand, a snake bite could also mean something in your life is about to change dramatically, but for the better.

Seeing a dead snake in a dream
A dead snake in a dream can often indicate that you have overcome an obstacle that made your life difficult. It can also predict the end of a difficult situation, or liberation from toxic or self-destructive thoughts.

Seeing a large number of snakes
If you’re seeing a large number of snakes in your dream or are surrounded by snakes, you may be in a life stage where you feel as if it is too much for you or as if you had a heavy load on your shoulders. Your life journey can be full of pitfalls, obstacles, and dangers, and you don’t know how to escape it.

If you dreamed of a boa constrictor
According to Loewenberg, nothing in a dream is ever random, meaning that the species of snake that appears in your dream is significant. (And remember, snakes tend to represent people in your life.) Think about the snake closely — and in particular, consider the way it threatens its prey or predators.

“A boa constrictor is known for squeezing its prey to death,” Lowenberg says. “So a boa constrictor in your dream may be connected to someone in your life who is causing you to feel crowded or constricted, or someone who may be squeezing you financially.”

If you dreamed of a rattlesnake
When a predator or even unaware passerby gets close to a rattlesnake, the venomous serpent will rattle its tail to warn the perceived threat away. Therefore, if a rattlesnake appears in your dream, it may be “warning you about a toxic person in your life or telling you to start paying attention to warning signs a certain person may be displaying.”

If you dreamed of a harmless species, like a garter snake
In this case, you may be able to breathe a sigh of relief. “A garter snake is harmless, so it may represent someone you were originally cautious about but are now realizing is not a threat to you,” Loewenberg says.

If multiple snakes appeared in your dream
Just like the breed of snake, the number of snakes that appear in your dream can hold meaning. “Multiple snakes can represent multiple toxic people or a toxic situation that has many facets to it,” Loewenberg says. Alternatively, “multiple snakes could represent multiple health issues or one health issue that has many elements to it.”

If you dreamed the snake was in your house
If you come across a snake in your house, well, look for potentially toxic people — or stressors — under your roof. (Sorry!) Or, think of it more figuratively. Perhaps, Loewenberg suggests, the menacing individual’s “toxicity is to the point that you are bringing that negativity home with you.”

If you dream the snake was outside
Conversely, if the snake in your dream is outside, Loewenberg says it “can be a message that it’s time to get things ‘out in the open’ with this toxic person.” She adds: “Toxic people continue to poison our lives because we don’t speak up about it.”

If the snake bit a loved one
If a snake attacks a loved one in a dream, then that person could be the one dealing with a health or emotional issue. Or, if you don’t believe the snake has anything to do with health, Loewenberg suggests looking internally and asking yourself if you might be the snake. Ask yourself, “have you been spewing venomous words at this person?”

If the snake bit an enemy
In this scenario, you might be the snake. “To dream someone you dislike gets bitten by snake could reflect your desire to take them down with your own ‘biting’ remarks and ‘wounding’ words,” Loewenberg says.

If a snake appeared in a sensual dream
Snakes can also symbolize male sexual energy — vis-à-vis “their shape,” Loewenberg says. So, if you find yourself sexually interested in a man, snakes may begin to appear in your dreams in a non-threatening manner.

A snake which is shedding its skin
Is indicating transformation and change. Ask yourself how you felt when you dreamed this: were you afraid, excited, or accepting? Is there some sort of upcoming change that you fear? Is your life in a transitory phase? Perhaps the snake is chasing you. That can be pretty terrifying; it may mean you’re avoiding dealing with an unpleasant situation. ... Dreams

Snakes

For a woman to dream that a dead snake is biting her, foretells she will suffer from malice of a pretended friend.

To dream of snakes, is a foreboding of evil in its various forms and stages.

To see them wriggling and falling over others, foretells struggles with fortune and remorse.

To kill them, you will feel that you have used every opportunity of advancing your own interests, or respecting that of others. You will enjoy victory over enemies.

To walk over them, you will live in constant fear of sickness, and selfish persons will seek to usurp your place in your companion’s life.

If they bite you, you will succumb to evil influences, and enemies will injure your business.

To dream that a common spotted snake approaches you from green herbs, and you quickly step aside as it passes you, and after you had forgotten the incident to again see it approaching and growing in dimensions as it nears you, finally taking on the form of an enormous serpent; if you then, after frantic efforts, succeed in escaping its attack, and altogether lose sight of it, it foretells that you will soon imagine you are being disobeyed and slighted, and things will go on from bad to worse. Sickness, uneasiness and unkindness will increase to frightful proportions in your mind; but they will adjust themselves to a normal basis, and by the putting aside of imaginary trouble, and masterfully shouldering duties, you will be contented and repaid.

To dream that a snake coils itself around you and darts its tongue out at you, is a sign that you will be placed in a position where you will be powerless in the hands of enemies, and you will be attacked with sickness.

To handle them, you will use strategy to aid in overthrowing opposition.

To see hairs turn into snakes, foretells that seeming insignificant incidents will make distressing cares for you.

If snakes turn into unnatural shapes, you will have troubles which will be dispelled if treated with indifference, calmness and will power.

To see or step on snakes while wading or bathing, denotes that there will be trouble where unalloyed pleasure was anticipated.

To see them bite others, foretells that some friend will be injured and criticised by you.

To see little snakes, denotes you will entertain persons with friendly hospitality who will secretly defame you and work to overthrow your growing prospects.

To see children playing with them, is a sign that you will be nonplussed to distinguish your friends from your enemies.

For a woman to think a child places one on the back of her head, and she hears the snake’s hisses, foretells that she will be persuaded to yield up some possession seemingly for her good, but she will find out later that she has been inveigled into an intrigue in which enemies will tantalize her.

To see snakes raising up their heads in a path just behind your friend, denotes that you will discover a conspiracy which has been formed to injure your friend and also yourself.

To think your friend has them under control, denotes that some powerful agency will be employed in your favor to ward off evil influences.

For a woman to hypnotize a snake, denotes your rights will be assailed, but you will be protected by law and influential friends. See Serpents and Reptiles. ... Ten Thousand Dream Interpretation
