Mirror

A mirror in a dream means illusion, arrogance, pride, or a woman.

If one looks into a mirror and sees his beard black in a dream, it means honor, respect and dignity.

If one looks into a mirror and sees the reflections of someone who looks like him in a dream, it means that he will beget a son who will look like his father and carry his trade. Looking into a mirror in a dream also means loss of one’s position, or getting married.

If one is already married, then it means the return of his wife from ajourney. Looking at the back of a mirror in a dream means loss of one’s crop, or entering one’s wife from the anus during sexual intercourse.

It is said that a mirror in a dream also represents manhood, virtues and station, all of which are subject to the size of the mirror one sees in his dream. Looking into a silver mirror in a dream means loss of one’s status, it also means suffering from adversities, distress and fear. Looking into a golden mirror in a dream represents the strength of one’s faith, religious commitment, prosperity after poverty, redemption and regaining one’s position and status.

A broken mirror in a dream means the death of one’s wife, for a husband and a wife are mirrors to one another. Looking into a mirror and seeing the reflection of a youth means facing an adversary or a competitor. Ifone sees an old person, then he has seen a good friend. Looking into a clean and a shiny mirror in a dream means dispelling one’s distress. Acorroded mirror in a dream connotes a bad state or a trying situation.

If the mirror is spurious, or not genuine in one’s dream, then it represents a great distress or a calamity. Gazing at a mirror and looking at oneself extensively in a dream means that God Almighty is not pleased with him and that he is disobeying God’s commands both in public and in private. Consequently, one will suffer from financial losses or feel down.

If a sick person looks into a mirror in his dream, it means his death.

A mirror in a dream also means travels or a pregnancy.

If a woman looks into a mirror in a dream, it means that she will beget a girl, and if a man looks into a mirror in a dream, it means that he will beget a boy. Looking into a mirror and seeing the reflection of someone else in a dream means hallucination, craziness, or loss of money.

If a man looks into a mirror and sees the reflection of a woman in a dream, it means either begetting a daughter, or getting married.

If a prisoner looks into a mirror in his dream, it means that he will be released from jail. Ifone becomes a mirror in a dream, it means that he will meet with people’s wrath and despise.

Mirror

Magic, another world, self, reflection.

It is a symbol of vanity and superficiality. You may be concerned about your image and the way you present yourself to the world. Some say that if you see a clear image, you may be getting a glimpse of your true self. Broken mirrors always seem to be a sign of bad luck, or, at least, represent some distortions. On a deeper level the mirror can be considered to be a representation of the intellect.

The intellect is an instrument of navigation and is constantly persuading us to identify ourselves. When we think about this, it makes a lot of sense. Our self-identity is very much connected to the way we look (not only superficially but also characteristically as man - woman, young - old, etc). We use this self-identity, which is greatly a production of our intellect, to navigate through life. ... The Bedside Dream Dictionary

It looks very sexy. I am aware that the door is open and have an urge to close it, but then feel OK about looking sexy and people seeing me’ (Nora). Nora is looking at how she may appear to others if she allows her natural feelings to show.

Mirror

Insightful intellect that reflects reality.

A common allegory for self-observation. We are looking into a mirror in our dreams in order to confirm our identity. If, in a dream, we are looking into the mirror and do not see our own but somebody else’s image, it is always a sign that we are living in a fantasy world.

It is also possible to see an actual person in the mirror.

The mirror is considered an attribute of the Fool, always pointing to vanity as one of the classic seven sins. Fools have often been depicted with mirrors.

The image of a mirror in a dream is a very important event, and should be analyzed in detail.

For the Greeks, a mirror appearing in a dream meant the death of the dreamer, since what he saw in the mirror was considered a look-alike. In fairy tales, a mirror represents hidden and future events, and the image of the soul.

According to Jung, the mirror is usually considered magical; it is “a knowing mirror,” as in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Using a mirror often transforms us into a mythical state. In Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass, Alice enters another world through a mirror. In Cocteau’s film Orpheus, the mirror is the entrance to the underworld.

The image of a mirror also points to a tendency to inflate emotions and lose touch with our grounding.... Little Giant Encyclopedia

The mirror of truth that reflects genuine motivations, feelings, and fears. In ancient times, the mirror was thought to be able to reveal a soul within.

Metaphorical reflections and pondering, often of a personal nature about the essential questions of existence. There is an old fable about someone who sought the book of all knowledge and wisdom. WTien at last the book was uncovered, the person was amazed to discover it held but one page: a mirror.

The way you wish to be seen, or the way you portray yourself outwardly.

A broken or cracked mirror reveals total transformation in self-perceptions and distorted self-images. It also acts as an omen of ill fortune.

A cloudy mirror indicates unclear or uncertain outlooks, especially about yourself.

Mirror

Symbol of imagination and conscience. It reproduces the reflections of the visible world. Therefore, this instrument allows you to glimpse your true personality, or whatever you are hiding. Generally mirrors in the dreams demonstrate the individual’s low communication with her inner world.

If the mirror lets you see a positive image of yourself it suggests that you are satisfied with your character and current situation. Otherwise, it evidences fear of disclosing shameful desires. Finally, if you are in front of a mirror with your eyes closed it indicates that you are unwilling to face reality. Clearly alluding to narcissism, the mirror is, according to Freud, an emblem of conceit. According to the Jungian school, however, it is a symptom of introspection, a need to return to the true essence of the subject’s unconscious saving the façade that tends to be the public face.

A broken mirror is a harbinger of grief and pain. To break it with your own hands denotes inability to recognize your own mistakes.... The Big Dictionary of Dreams

Mirror

A dream with a mirror in it is asking you to consider what you see in your life. What we experience in our consciousness is reflected back to us based on our inner beliefs, and if a mirror features prominently in a dream, you are contemplating this paradigm. Mirrors can be confounding and confusing. Not only do they reverse everything that they reflect, but their images can give a sense of reality that they do not actually possess. They accurately reflect an image, but are not the image itself.

A mirror is comparable to the basic principle of cause and effect. You can use it effectively as a tool to examine the current state of things. However, in order to change what you don’t like in the reflection, you must work on the object being reflected rather than alter the mirror itself. Who or what one sees in a mirror in a dream represents that which the unconscious mind is seeing. Consider whether the mirror image is accurate to your self-perspective. Looking straight into the mirror and being comfortable with what you see says that your self-appraisal is honest and real.

If what you see seems off-kilter in some way, it could be an invitation to look at where you may be being inauthentic. This could indicate something that you are deliberately hiding from others or something more mundane, such as being more concerned with how others see.

The condition of a mirror should also be taken into account. For instance, a cracked mirror may be helping you process a feeling of ominous bad luck due to the old wives’ tale common in Western culture that breaking a mirror brings dire consequences to the one who breaks it.

A handheld mirror might be offering an intimate glimpse of the self, one that is designed to privately monitor the image you project to the world.

A full- length mirror could be pointing toward the need to see more of the whole picture of your current life situations. Someone else’s mirror might mean your individual sense of self is being determined at this time based on someone else’s values or perceptions.

A mirror can possess the magical property of showing the truth about a situation when called upon, such as the Evil Queen’s Magic Mirror in Snow White. Explore the theme of the dream for its profound truth.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

Mirror / Lighting

As a symbol of the mind, the mirror suggests the art of reflection, looking at the reality of who you are, or seeing yourself in a new or different way.

If a mirror appears in your dream, do you need to reflect on something that is bothering you? If you saw your reflection, were you happy with what you saw or do you want to make changes? Light in dreams symbolizes intuition or inner guidance, so if you dream of lights or light bulbs, consider their shape. Are they candles flaring upward or is the light contained in a bulb? Is the light flickering or steady, and what does this represent for you right now? If you are carrying a light that flares in your dream, does this mean you have a flair for something, a talent you are not using? Or does it mean you are about to flare up and have an angry outburst? As mentioned above, light is the symbol of life, knowledge and enlightenment and in dreams, casting a bright light may present an optimistic image of your well-being, but if it is flickering, this suggests uncertainty. A light that is unlit may be a symbol of ignorance.

If you use a flashlight or torch in your dream, this suggests you are trying to seek out truth and integrity in a corrupt situation.... The Element Encyclopedia

Rearview Mirror

As you drive forward, you can periodically look behind you by virtue of the rearview mirror. In this way, the symbolic meaning of this structure is your ability to consider where you are going by virtue of where you are just coming from.

The rearview mirror may be featured in a dream when you are paying too much attention to your past and this is distracting your ability to move gracefully into the future.

A broken rearview mirror may indicate a moment when your ability to assess where you are going is inhibited in terms of learning the lessons of your past.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

Saker

(Falcon; Hawk) In a dream, a saker means a son, high rank, authority, or a respected, dignified and awe-inspiring person who comes from noble lineage though he is unjust.

If one sees a saker pursuing him in a dream, it means that he has incurred the wrath of a strong and a courageous man who does what he says. Seeing a saker without a fight in a dream means profits, and the same interpretation applies to most hunting birds or animals. Owning a hunting saker who is well trained and obedient in a dream means gaining authority, or becoming unjust and ungodly. Owning a disobedient saker that does not hunt in a dream means begetting a son who will grow to manhood and be independent.

A saker in a dream also signifies might, rank, victory, attaining one’ goals, adversities, death, prison, shackles, adornment, or tightening one’s grip on expenses.

A trained saker in a dream also represents an articulate man of knowledge, verses an untamed saker in the dream.... Islamic Dream Interpretation

Seeing, Saw, Sight

This is one of the major aspects of dreaming. Unless we are born blind, virtually every dream shows us looking at, seeing or viewing the events, objects, environment and people of the dream. In a word count from a sample of 1,000 dreams, the words see, saw, look, looking occurred 1,077 times. This is the highest occurrence of any words in the sample. Next were feel, feelings, felt with a score of 855, and house, houses with 412.

This suggests that dreams are almost entirely about giving attention to, being aware of, being confronted by, considering or realising some aspect of the enormously wide range of experience which human consciousness meets. Therefore, whatever appears in the dream shows we are giving some thought to, feeling or confronting what is depicted. During each day we meet, in sensory impressions, in memory, in emotion, in thought, a huge variety of things.

It is therefore of great interest what comparatively few subjects our spontaneous dream response chooses to give attention to out of all the range. It seems likely these chosen areas are important to us.

Looking at something implies our attitudes or response to what is seen. Being looked at by someone else in the dream suggests seeing oneself from a viewpoint which is not our norm. By actually attempting to stand in the role of the other person, as described in dream processing, we can become conscious of this different viewpoint. By standing in our own role in the dream, and actually taking time to consider what it is we are ‘seeing, and the impressions involved, we can ‘see’ or become aware of what the dream is getting us to look at regarding ourself. Idioms: from the look of things; look after, look askance at; look at; look before you leap; look blue, look down on; look for, look forward to; look into; look out, look over something; look small; look the other way; look up to; look for a fight; not like the look of; as far as I can see; as I see it; do you see what I mean; I’ll see about that; I see, see over something; overseer; see eye to eye; see life; see red; see which way the wind blows; catch sight of; get out of my sight, in sight of; lose sight of; out of sight, out of mind, second sight; at first sight. Silent Witness / Mirror Image

Unable or unwilling to speak, a silent witness in your dreams represents an area in your life in which you are not expressing yourself. According to Jung, favoring the intellect over your emotions or vice versa can make you speechless and unable to communicate fully and openly with other people. The only way to create intimacy in your life is to find a better balance. In dreams, twins or mirror images of a figure often represent two aspects of your personality.

If they are not identical, they suggest conflict between your inner and your outer realities.

If they are identical, they are a sign of inner harmony.... The Element Encyclopedia

Turning In One’s Sleep

If one sees himself turning in his sleep and putting his face down, or resting on his stomach in a dream, it means that he will turn away from his faith and lose both his earnings in this world and in the hereafter.

If one sees the reverse, which is turning from resting on one’s stomach to lying on his back in a dream, it means that he will repent for his sins. It also represents his willingness to face the people and to correct his wrongdoing.

If the subject is a woman, then sleeping on her stomach in a dream means that she is refusing to sleep with her husband.
