Did We Always Dream?

That may seem like a silly question, but think about early man. Have people always dreamt even when the world around them was quite simple and mundane? The answer is yes. While we cannot have definitive proof of paleo-man, we can know that back in the Roman Era, striking and significant dreams were submitted to the Senate for analysis and interpretation.

What did man do with these odd images that appeared during their sleep? Well, they did what we do today – tried to interpret them!

Dream interpretations date back to 3000-4000 B.C. where they were documented on clay tablets. For as long as we have been able to communicate our dreams, we have been fascinated with them and strive to understand them.

People in primal societies were unable to distinguish between the dream world and reality. They not only saw the dream world as an extension of reality, but that the dream realm was a more powerful world.

Back in the Greek and Roman era, dreams were often seen in a religious context and messages from the gods. Temples, called Asclepieions were built around the power of dreams. It was believed that sick people who slept in these temples would be sent cures through their dreams.

In Egypt, priests also acted as dream interpreters. The Egyptians recorded their dreams in hieroglyphics. People with particular vivid and significant dreams were believed to be blessed and were considered special. People who had the power to interpret dreams were looked up to and seen as divinely gifted. In the bible, there are over seven hundred mentions of dreams. Tracing back to these ancient cultures, people had always had an inclination to interpret dreams

Dreams were also seen as prophetic and an omen from outside spirits. People often looked to their dreams for signs of warning and advice from a deity, from the dead or even the works of a demon. Sometimes they look to their dreams for what to do or what course of action to take.

Dreams often dictated the actions of political and military leaders. In fact, in the Green and Roman era, dream interpreters even accompanied military leaders into battle to help. Some interpreters aided the medicine men in a diagnosis. Dreams offered a vital clue for healers in finding what was wrong with the dreamer.

Dreaming can be seen as an actual place that your spirit and soul leaves every night to go and visit. The Chinese believed that the soul leaves the body to go into this world. However, if they should be suddenly awakened, their soul may fail to return to the body. For this reason, some Chinese today, are wary of alarm clocks.

Some Native American tribes and Mexican civilizations share this same notion of a distinct dream dimension. They believed that their ancestors lived in their dreams and take on non-human forms like plants. They see that dreams as a way of visiting and having contact with their ancestors. Dreams also helped to point their mission or role in life.

During the Middle Ages, dreams were seen as evil and its images were temptations from the devil. In the vulnerable sleep state, the devil was believed to fill the mind of humans with poisonous thoughts. He did his dirty work though dreams attempting to mislead humans down a wrong path.

In the early 19th century, dreams were dismissed as stemming from anxiety, a household noise or even indigestion. Hence there was really no meaning to it. Later on in the 19th century, Sigmund Freud revived the importance of dreams and its significance and need for interpretation. He revolutionized the study of dreams.... Dreampedia

Door / Doorway

Doors may have a variety of different meanings—meanings that can usually be ascertained depending on how the door is disposed in a dream. An open door indicates a new opportunity; stepping through a doorway means appropriating a new opportunity, or entering into a new phase of life; a choice of many doorways shows a juncture at which a choice must be made; and a locked door indicates something repressed or hidden.

A closed door may represent something hidden, or it may symbolize an opportunity that is closed to us. (See also Gate.)... Dream Symbols in The Dream Encyclopedia

To see or drive up to a driveway in your dream symbolizes an end to your journey, and therefore generally represents security and rest. It may also denote your path toward achieving inner peace and toward finding your spirituality.

Take into account how easy or hard is it to gain access to your house as this will show the barriers you may have put up to prevent other people getting close to you. It may be that you have become too open to the demands of others and need to be more selfcontained.

To see a fence in your dream signifies an obstacle or barrier that may be standing in your path. Are you feeling fenced in? To dream that you are climbing to the top of a fence indicates success and the development of your potential. To dream that you are building a fence signifies secrecy, withdrawal and an intense need for privacy. There might also be someone with whom you need to mend fences in waking life? Flying

Carl Jung believed that in dreaming of flying, we are expressing our desire to break free of restrictions and limitations. Alfred Adler, thought that this dream was a type of a superiority dream in which we reveal the desire to dominate and be above others. Focusing on the libido, Freud thought that flying was just another way to express sexual desires. Traditionally, If you dream you are flying so high that you can actually touch the moon and stars this portends many different types of global disaster that you may soon hear of.

Tryskelion Dream Interpretation

Flying

Example: During childhood I leamt to fly in a long sequence of dreams. Each linked very clearly to the last. I would go to the nearby churchyard and in the beginning I would run along as fast as I could then jump and just manage to extend the jump by a great effon of will. In subsequent practices I managed gradually to extend the jump for many yards; and eventually I could skim along indefinitely.

The next stage though was to extend my height, and this took enormous effort of will and body. I made active swimming motions and climbed, but only held altitude with great and constant concentration. With further practice still, this clumsy mode of flying was left behind as I leamt to use pure motivation or will to lift me into the air and carry me easily and gracefully wherever I wished. At this stage my flying was swift, mobile and without struggle’ (Jason V).

The example illustrates how much will, effort and learning can be involved in flying in dreams. This aspect of flying connects with the gaining of independence and the expression of one’s potential. We are all born into a certain paradigm or ‘reality’. At one time, part of the ‘reality’ for most Britons was that anyone without a white skin was a heathen or savage. At other times the reality’ has been that anything heavier than air could not fly. Meteors did not exist because theory discounted them. And so on.

To break free of such paradigms and from the gravity’ or hold our parental and social authority has on us to find a measure of emotional and intellectual freedom, takes the son of will, effort and learning depicted.

Flying expresses also the dealing with our internal influences which hold us down, such as self doubt, anxiety, depression.

Example: ‘I was flying. I felt nervous at first that I would fall down, but not afraid. I soon became confident and felt very happy and wanted the sensation to continue. I was lying over a building, could have been a small church, crematorium or graveyard but did not feel afraid or upset. When I woke I lay in bed and tried very hard to keep the feelings with me and, for reasons unknown, I do not wish to forget it’ (Mrs SM). In flying, Mrs SM is finding a way to look at death—the graveyard—which gives her a different viewpoint, a different feeling reaction to it, and she doesn’t want to lose that precious newly learnt view. In their maturing process some peo- pie learn to see their thoughts and emotions as things they expenence rather than things they are, and this brings the sort of new viewpoint seen in the example.

Example: ‘I was in a building with a group of people. I was being chased and suddenly flew up in the air to escape my pursuers’ (Michael O). Learning independence, and the ability to make decisions despite what others feel, may be done by ignoring our own feelings. This may be achieved by always keeping busy; never having quiet moments alone; filling empty periods with entertainment or company; smoking, drinking alcohol, taking sedatives or tranquillisers; ngid positive thinking. Then, as Michael does in his dream, we fly from issues we are pursued by instead of resolving them. This may lead us to the extremes of being either rigidly materialistic, or as rigidly ethereal. In either case we lose contact with everyday human issues, and may begin to have the escape-type flying dream, or an out of body experience.

Example: 41 knew I could fly. I picked up one of the young women I felt love for and flew with her.’ Laughingly I felt like superman, and flew easily’ (Simon W). Flying alone occurs most frequently, showing the independent aspect of flying. But because it often involves our positive feelings of pleasure, flying may depict our sexuality, as above, especially aspects of it expressing freedom from social norms and restraints.

Example: ‘I was floating atop a tree near houses and a rising walkway. I was saying to people around the tree that I had found something wonderful. Reaching out my hand I told them they could join me if they accepted this possibility in themselves. Some thought it was a publicity campaign, but were enjoying the spectacle.

A few reached out and were immediately with me, until there were about six of us, men and women. We joined hands, experiencing a most amazing sense of well-being. Then we slowly and effortlessly flew to a great height, leaving a trail of coloured smoke which could be seen for miles. It was to demonstrate the triumph of the human spirit. We then descended and were going somewhere else to show others’ (Margareta H). Transcendence is also depicted by flying.

The tree is Margareta’s personal life. She is at the growing tip, transcending, leaving behind her past. Being high in flight, on a hill or mountain also represents the action of seeing our life as a whole, having a sense of our overall direction and destiny, our essential self. This frequently gives rise to the drive to give of one’s best to others, as Margareta does in leaving behind a sign—the spire of colour.

Some researchers believe flying dreams often precede lucid dreams. See lucid dreams; out of body experience. See also Hill; mountain. Idioms: fly by night, flying high; send flying.... A Guide to Dreams and Sleep Experiences

Flying

Overdramatization or fleeing from a problematic situation. Looking for clarification in difficult situations. Flying and Falling appear in Abyss, Elevator, and Trap, usually in nightmares; or as in: Brook, Leaf, and in part Parachute, during very pleasurable liberation dreams. In case of teenagers: often a sign that too much is being asked of them and that they are being pressured to succeed. These dreams are often like being intoxicated, having a sense of being elevated, and a lightness: like being in love. Many ancient myths show the connection between flying and sexuality, and while flying today has become a commonplace activity, the old interpretations are still true (see Fear of Flying by Erica Jong). Now modern symbolic interpretations of flying include the image of worldliness, expansive ideas, and communications. Flying is also seen as a symbol of creative ideas. This image may also be a warning not to become too aloof and removed from reality through fantasizing.

The dream may also be a challenge for either being too earthbound or taking flight into a greater dimension.

In Egypt, dreams of flying were interpreted as fleeing from difficulties. In ancient Greece and Rome, dreams of flying were seen as passionate love.

According to Freud, they were dreams of sexual desire and erection (Freud dealt with this extensively). He saw dreams of flying exclusively as desire for sex. Some modern dream experts interpret flying dreams exclusively as a desire to get away from problematic sit- uations, or to cross one’s own boundaries. Some researchers believe that in our dreams we go back to preborn states, make contact with the state of birds, and realize our innate ability to fly. Another contemporary dream researcher, Jack Maguire, believes that most dreams about flying are just a sign that we want to recuperate and refresh ourselves.... Little Giant Encyclopedia

Flying

(see Airplane / Airport, Birds by type, Butterfly, Bat, Fairies, bisects by type, Wings)

Liberation or freedom. Overcoming a difficult situation and transcending limitations.

If you fly alone, this represents a personal journey filled with positive realizations.

If flying with others, this indicates the support of family, friends, or acquaintances, especially for a new endeavor.

An Out of Body Experience (OBE): Esoterically, flying through the air is sometimes interpreted as an OBE. Christian figures like Elisha and St. Anthony were believed to have this ability.

The ancient Egyptians called the astral body the ba, and in Germany the astral figure was sometimes likened to a doppelganger. No

matter the name, the purpose of such travel is to edify and educate the spirit, or potentially aid someone that you could not reach by normal means (see Bed).

With wings: If you have the wings of a bird when flying, check mythical or folkloric information on that bird for possible clues to your dream’s meaning.

For example, having the wings of a dove reveals nonviolent intentions or resolutions.

Flying

Flying dreams are often a very exhilarating and joyful experience. Flying with ease and looking down in the landscape below signifies that you are prepared and on top of a situation, or that you have risen above something that once bothered you. Flying dreams and our ability to control our flight is representative of your own personal sense of power.

If you dream that you have trouble staying in flight, you are feeling a lack of power in controlling your own circumstances.

If you run into power lines, trees, mountains and other obstructions you run into while in flight, they stand for a particular obstacle or person who is standing in your way in your waking life.

Flying

This is one dream symbol on which practi- cally every source from Ar- temidorus on down agrees. It represents the dreamer’s basic ambition, but the in- terpretation of flying (like a bird) is modified by the details of the flight and its conditions, so the sur- roundings, weather, etc., must be correlated with the action, but as a gen- eral guide:

If you successfully maintained your flight at a low to medium height, you can expect to achieve your goal without much difficulty.

If you were trying (or straining) to reach a high altitude, the dream is telling you that your grasp is greater than your reach and you would be wise to alter your course.

Flying

(1) Dreams of flying may derive from childhood enjoyment of swings and see-saws and represent a longing for the freedom and joy associated with (a happy) childhood.

(2) Flying may symbolize liberation — for example, getting rid of (self- imposed) shackles or irrational taboos stemming from childhood experiences.

(3) Flying may symbolize over-reaching yourself. In this case, your dream is probably warning you against projects that are too grandiose or not in accord with your fundamental constitution. This may mean that, in entertaining wild fantasies, you have actually overlooked your real capacities and gifts (remember Icarus!). See also Falling, section (1).

(4) Sky may symbolize consciousness, intellect, spirituality. A dream of flying may therefore mean cither that you should extend the range of your consciousness (e.g. by bringing up unconscious contents into your conscious mind, or taking a less wordly view of life) or that you should give your previously neglected instinctual, intuitional or feeling functions a fuller role in your conscious life. The latter would be more likely to apply if you are an intellectual and if the dream includes some fear of falling.

(5) Are you looking at the world below in a detached, uninvolved, unemotional way, so that your problems dissolve, or your values undergo radical transformation? If so, the message is clear.

(6) Since sky is an age-old symbol of God or transcendence, flying may be a symbol of coming closer to your authentic or true self, or to the meaning of (vour) life. See also God(dess).

(7) If you dream of flying fish, or a dolphin shooting out of the water, the meaning is probably that something in your unconscious wants to penetrate your conscious mind and / or to be allowed its proper place in your conscious life.

If you dream of a pig (or an elephant, say) flying, this may mean some despised and rejected ‘animal’ part of you is now - or, much more likely, needs to be - integrated into your conscious life.

Flying

Imagining that you are flying signals the arrival of change that will be very beneficial for you. The action of flying, however, implies the desire to evolve, to connect with the essence of yourself to progress spiritually. Further, it denotes that you have undone something that was worrying you.

It is a dream from which you leave with optimism and renewed strength, with a stimulating sensation of liberty. It also indicated the need to discover, to invent, and to do new things. This type of image foretells success, the completion of objections and overcoming difficulties, and encourages the dreamer to action (it is the time to fly by one’s self). However, you should not forget the Greek myth from Icarus; he who tried to go too high, his ambition brought him to a fatal destination. Further, if the protagonist is a young woman, it announces the break from relations in her couple.

In antiquity, if a person dreamt of flying, it was considered that he had entered into the sphere of the immortal gods. The Native Americans, the Babylonians, the Hindus, the Tibetan Buddhists, and many other peoples believed that the world had the ability to abandon the physical body during sleep. During these astral voyages, the psychic body could fly to other dimensions, communicate with people of a certain spiritual belief or learn of the souls that once were angels and divinities. Some scientists believe that these voyages are factual and that there exists the possibility to verify them empirically.

analysis of a dream

Montse dreamed: “I discovered with astonishment that I could fly. I just had to move three steps ahead and push myself a little forward; I didn’t even have to swing my arms. The wind marked my direction and I was able to feel the incredible sensation, I felt happy, free, powerful... Around me there were no birds, nor sounds; I was on my own in the immensity of the blue sky, flying over a sea in calm blue, yet brighter. Suddenly, I saw a group of dolphins jumping joyfully over silver waves. I awoke smiling, with a very pleasant sensation.”

Dreaming that you are flying is associated with liberty, the desire to elevate yourself from the earthly bindings and conquer the heaviness of reality.

It is a dream of evolution, which reveals you need to freely express yourself, to create... Montse, by profession a designer, had this dream a few days before completing a design for an important magazine, very artistic and vanguardist, renowned with many awards... A few days before she had felt very pressured and tired; however, her dream calmed her and revealed her creative capacity and her strength of expression. Dolphins are a symbol of intelligence that s related to clarity and purity of thought. The face that there were jumping through the water (entering and leaving) indicated the level of connection Montse had established between her conscious and subconscious.

Dreams of flights also match an interest in spiritual evolution. Curiously, through this period, Montse had given some tries in this direction, with courses on growth and personal overcoming, in which she learned much about herself.... The Big Dictionary of Dreams

Flying

You are ascending and rising above mundane life. You may also be avoiding something on the ground. This is one of the most common universal dream images. One of the most delightful aspects of dreaming, this cross- cultural symbol means that you are rising above everything that is on the ground. Since this can be a wonderful sensation, it is often associated with intense feelings of a positive nature.

A flying dream could indicate strong feelings of freedom and bliss, which can represent moving toward a higher state of awareness or connection with spirit. It can also provide a broader perspective on your life by virtue of giving you a higher vantage point. However, it should not be overlooked that this very experience can be used as a defense by the unconscious.

When this dream appears, it begs the following question:

Is there anything that is being avoided or overlooked by rising above the conflict or simply not being grounded in reality?... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

Flying is a universal dream motif. Flying can reflect a sense that one is “flying high” or that one has “risen above” something. Flying also represents freedom and joy. Flying

Dreams of flying are very common and vary from dreamer to dream. Most typically dreamers don’t go on long, high flights; instead they hover about a hundred or so yards from the ground. The most simple explanation of these kind of dreams was put forward by English physician Havelock Ellis in his book The World of Dreams, in which he suggests that it is our breathing whilst asleep that suggests the idea of flying (and falling) to the unconscious mind. Freud suggested that dreams of flying were nothing else but the desire for sexual freedom, and the idea that dreams of flying are associated with sex is shared by some other dream researchers. However, as with all dreams, there can be many interpretations.

Flying dreams and the ability to control your flight can be representative of your own personal sense of power.

If you are flying with ease, and enjoying the scene and landscape below, then it suggests that you are on top of a situation.

You have risen above something. It may also mean that you have gained a different perspective on things. Having difficulties staying in flight indicates a lack of power in controlling your own circumstances. You may be struggling to stay aloft, and stay on course. Things like birds, trees or telephone poles may further obstruct your flight. These obstructions represent a particular obstacle or person standing in your way in your waking life. You need to identify who, or what, is preventing you from moving forward.

If you are feeling fear when you are flying or feel that you are flying too high, then it suggests that you are afraid of challenges and of success. Are you trying to rise above something in waking life? Are you developing an idea? Are you flying in the face of fortune? Flying into a rage? Flying off the handle? Flying high?... Flying

Dreams about flying are common to late childhood and early adolescence. The dreams vary: some dream of jumping or falling from a great height, others run and jump into flight, whereas others jump from a great height and discover that they can fly. Dream researchers believe that dreams about flight can reflect the drive within each of us to be free to express, explore and experience life, so it makes sense that we dream most often about flying during a stage in life when we are becoming aware of abilities that will take us places later in life.... Monsters

Monster dreams in childhood reflect dramatically frightening things that have disturbed a child, in particular how frightening it can be for a child when the people they love and trust behave in an angry or scary way. This may be, for example, when a loving mother loses her temper or a caring dad disciplines his child. According to some psychologists, children dream of monsters because they are unwilling to believe anything bad about the people they are dependent on.

If you are a parent and feel that you are reflected in monster dreams, try to encourage your child to share these dreams with you. Bear in mind that, in some instances, the monster may reflect someone else in your child’s life: a sibling, an uncle or aunt, or even a neighbor. This dream is common to the middle childhood and preteen years. In the dream there is a repetitive task that needs to be performed usually at the command of monsters. The task is usually something gruesome or sinister, like digging graves or sorting body parts. The dreamer is horrified by the task but numbed by the repletion and tedium, and in the dream more likely to be upset about the workload than the actual nature of the task. This dream often reflects the stress of young children who feel they must achieve and meet standards imposed upon them. The unconscious is reminding them that the casualties of a task-orientated approach to life may be other desires, interests and feelings. In depth psychology, the train represents our unconscious, which is trying to get us on the right “track.”... Little Giant Encyclopedia

Running

To dream of running in company with others, is a sign that you will participate in some festivity, and you will find that your affairs are growing towards fortune.

If you stumble or fall, you will lose property and reputation. Running alone, indicates that you will outstrip your friends in the race for wealth, and you will occupy a higher place in social life.

If you run from danger, you will be threatened with losses, and you will despair of adjusting matters agreeably.

To see others thus running, you will be oppressed by the threatened downfall of friends.

To see stock running, warns you to be careful in making new trades or undertaking new tasks. ... Ten Thousand Dream Interpretation

Running

Dreaming of running competitively should be distinguished from dreams which have you running to or from something.

If you are simply running with no goal, it may be an indication that you need to slow down in your every day life.

If you are competing, you need to consider your recent rivalries and realistically look at the current challenges.

If you are running in a race and win, your unconscious may be expressing confidence that you may or may not feel in the wakened state. Running in your dreams may also symbolize the energy levels, the strength, or the force that you have to get through life.

Stairway

(Conveyor; Steps; Travels) In a dream, stairways represent the vehicle of rising in station, advancement in worldly gains, seeking the blessings of the hereafter, and the rising of one’s station in the hereafter.

A stairway in a dream also could represent the days of one’s life and their term.

If one sees a staircase which he recognizes in the dream, it could represent the servant of a house, its owner, or its accountant.

If a sick person sees himself climbing an unknown staircase which is leading him to the upper room from where he can see paradise in the dream, it means that he may die from his illness and reach what he saw.

If obstacles hinder his way or impede his climb in the dream, it means that he is detained, and the immediate blessings of such a gift will be veiled to him. Descending a staircase in a dream means arriving from a journey, resigning from one’sjob, impeachment, or it could represent a pedestrian.

If one’s descent leads him to his family, house, or farmland in the dream, it means money.

If what he reaches at the end of the staircase is unknown, and if one meets people, or souls he does not recognize in the dream, it also denotes what we have earlier explained.

If during one’s climb or descent he falls into a well, or if a giant bird grabs him and flies away with him, or if a beast devours him, or if he steps into a boat that sails away as he steps into it, or if he takes a step to find himself riding an animal, or a vehicle of some type, the staircase then represents the stages of one’s life and what he encountered during the journey of his life, all replayed or screened before his eyes at the point of descending into his grave, or as a book one reads after his death.

If he does wake up and finds himself healthy and fit, it means that he will become a tyrant, an unjust person, an atheist and a reprobate.

If one sees himself descending a staircase that leads him into a mosque, lush foliage, green fields, a fresh breeze of spring, or into a pond to take a ritual ablution to perform his prayers in the dream, it means that he will become a true believer, repent for his his sins and abandon his blameworthy conduct. Otherwise, ifhe descends upon adverse elements such as snakes, lions, steep hills, corpses, or a field of scattered remains in a dream, then it represents major trials and adversities.

If the steps are made of clay in one’s dream, they indicate positive signs. However, a stairway could be regarded as unfavorable if its steps are made of backed bricks.

If they are made of stones in the dream, they mean business success, along with a heart like a stone.

If the staircase is made of wooden steps in the dream, it means reaching a high rank which is compounded with hypocrisy. Ifthey are made of gold in the dream, then they mean achieving success and gaining authority.

If they are made of silver in the dream, they represent one’s entourage and attendants. Climbing a staircase in a dream also means sharpening one’s intellect and awareness. In a dream, a stairway is also interpreted to mean leading a life of ascetic detachment and devotion. Coming near a staircase in a dream also means attaining success and a growing piety. Each step represents a different station. Climbing a staircase in a dream also represents the dangers one may have to cross. Seeing a staircase with five steps in a dream represents the five time prayers, or the pulpit where the Imam stands to deliver his Friday sermon. That is why some interpreters qualify the staircase in one’s dream as glad tidings, good news, prayers, charity, alms giving, fasting, or a pilgrimage. God knows best.... Subway

Interpretation of subways is based on your experience with this mode of transportation.

If you regularly use the subway, you may need to look at the other parts of the dream more carefully.

If the subway is not a regular part of your daily routine but is the primary dream image then you can consider it to be symbolic of the way that you navigate through your own emotions and hidden parts of self.

The subway is under the ground and represents the unconscious parts of self. All of us interact on conscious and unconscious levels. We have intuitive feelings and unspoken understanding that direct our lives as much as the obvious and fully conscious things. Consider the subway ride in your dream and try to understand what it is conveying to you about your more subtle navigation through ongoing life experiences. See also: Train... Subway

An underground world of its own, the subway system in any city can get you from one place to another without seeing the light of day. Any travel from one place to another in a dream represents a change or transformation. Since a subway ride is relatively short, the scope of the change it represents is also relatively minor.

The idea that is being represented the most by this image in a dream has to do with being just under the surface of your consciousness. Walking / Running / Cycling

In general, activities such as walking, running and cycling are self-sufficient, pro-active and personal modes of progression, owing their movement entirely to will and physical effort. A possible Gestalt interpretation would be to regard dreams of walking, running or cycling as projections of the dreamer’s developing independence and autonomy. Your competence within your dream activity depicts your emotional stage.

If you are agile, this suggests you are coping well.

If movements flow, you feel in harmony with your emotions and your sexuality. If, however, you get stuck, feel stiff and cannot move easily, this could indicate that your personal development is held back by anxieties and fears. To dream you are walking is probably a comment on the pace of your waking life, and how well you are coping with all your responsibilities.

If you are walking confidently, it could indicate that you are in control and taking things in your stride. Consider your destination. Do you know what it is?

To dream that you are walking at night signifies discontent.

If you are limping, this refers to a lack of balance in some area in your life. Perhaps you feel that you are giving more than you are getting back at work, or in a particular relationship. To dream that you are marching suggests teamwork, or the need to involve yourself more with other people in order to achieve results.

If you were running or racing and keeping up with the others, this is a positive sign, but if you were falling behind or trying and failing to win a race, you need to rethink your schedule in daily life to relieve some of the pressures on you.

When specific activities appear in a dream, you might also need to consider whether or not you are filling your waking hours with productive and positive activities. It may be that changes need to be made. For example, if you dream of running, this could simply indicate your need to exercise more. Alternatively, it could suggest that you are exercising too much, and need to get balance back into your life.
