A three cord rope symbolizes strength, Eccl. 4:12
The rope itself is the potential to execute some measure of control over situations that feel somewhat chaotic. What the rope is doing in the dream will offer deeper meaning. Make sure to pay special attention to how the rope is knotted, as a knot is evidence of past efforts to control things that may not have been as effective as desired. Remember too that any knot can be undone with the right amount of effort.
A rope and pulley suggests using the forces of weight to help us; a frayed rope signifies a lack of care.
If the rope is made of an unusual substance such as hair or material, or is fashioned in a strange way, this will be a representation of the uniqueness of the bonds we have.
If we dream about tying up someone else, it could represent our efforts to restrain ourselves, perhaps holding back desires. (See also Chains).
If there are knots in the rope, you will have a few problems but will overcome them.
If you cut a rope, you will sever what could be a very useful relationship.
A rope which is extended down from the heavens in a dream represents God’s Book. However, a rope in adream also represents rank, respect and prosperity, or it could mean deception, misleading others, or sorcery. Holding to a rope in one’s dream represents one’s strict adherence to God’s path.
If the rope is made from fibers in the dream, it means that the one holding it is a rough person.
If it is made from leather in the dream, then it represents a bloody person.
If the rope is made from wool in the dream, then it represents a religious person. Twisting a rope in a dream means going on a trip. Twisting it around one’s own neck in the dream means getting married. Throwing it over one’s shoulders in the dream means an important appointment resulting from a business trip. Twisting one’s beard to make a rope out of it in a dream means perjury, receiving a bribe and giving a false testimony. Twisting a rope, making one, or measuring it in a dream means travels. Attaching a rope to a wooden stick or a staff in a dream means indulging in an evil act, or engaging in sorcery.

If the rope is made of an unusual substance, such as hair or material, there is a special bond or necessity which requires the qualities that that substance has.

Climbing a rope can be a type of ascent dream, whereas descending a rope reflects movement into the lower self—matters of a more physical or primal nature.
Walking a tightrope reflects finding yourself on a very fine edge between what’s expected of you, and what you feel you can accomplish effectively. Alternatively, this can represent balancing fact and faith, or the beliefs of others against your own conscience.

(As in the threefold cord that cannot be broken) • Positive: To dream of being tied to your spouse or to someone you love speaks of unity with the Lord.
• A ship is tied to the dock with a rope, representing security.
• A threefold cord speaks of strength and unity. It can be a very positive thing if it is tying a couple together in marriage.
• I recall a vision when my husband Craig and I were receiving ministry about being married. Apostle Les saw a vision of us tied together with strong ropes that could not be broken.
• Because my parents had been divorced, I feared the same thing in my own life.
The Lord made me a strong promise that I had nothing to fear. I am glad to say that our marriage is going stronger than ever! • With my husband, myself and the Lord, we are a picture of a threefold cord that could not be broken.
• Ecclesiastes 4:12 And if a one is overwhelmed, two can stand together; a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Negative: To dream of having your hands tied is a picture of being restricted and unable to do the things you need to do.
• Being tied by rope to something could also indicate that you are being bound by whatever that object or person represents in your dreams.
• Being bound by a rope can speak of the work of the enemy to bind you and prevent you from doing what the Lord wants you to do, just like Delilah bound Samson.
• Judges 15:13 ...And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.
• A rope attaching you to someone else could speak of a spiritual bond that needs to be broken. In the spirit, you might see a person tied with cords that are in turn attached to various people.
• If the people you see are family members, then that rope is a picture of generational bondage.
• You can also see this in relation to past mentors or friends that you have not fully let go yet.
If you see this vision, then the Lord is telling you to let those people go and to move on.
