Idol

The object of your worship. Things that have the place of honor in your life. Negative: I think we can both agree that there is no place for a positive interpretation for an idol in our lives.

The only time an idol would be positive is if you saw it being broken down.

• An idol in a dream or a vision is a representation of something that is taking your time, affection and worship.

• As we know the scriptures are clear on having any idols before the Lord.

The Lord alone should have this place in your life.

• If you have a vision of an idol while praying for a ministry or church, then the Lord is saying that they are putting other things before Him.

• People • Often people that are close to you can become an idol in your life. You begin to seek their affection and their direction for your life more than the Lord’s. Although the Lord will always use man to speak to you, at the end of the day, it is God that you should worship.

• Unfortunately in a church age of ‘super leaders’ there are many that turn the attention away from the Lord and onto them and ‘their gifts.’ It was unacceptable for the Children of Israel and it is still unacceptable in the church.

• Golden Calf • To see a golden calf in the spirit speaks of heresy and doctrine that is not of God.

• The Work of Your Hands • Often the things you have accomplished and done with your own works becomes more important than what the Lord wants you to do. Often when • these things take priority in your life, the Lord will ask you to sacrifice them just like He asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac.

• Acts 7:41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

Life And Death Struggle

The struggle for survival in dreamland is reflected in symbols such as quicksand, dangerous animals, wildfire, war and enemies; these all suggest the need to find a kind of security that cannot be taken away from you.

If you are prone to life-and-death struggles in your dreams, your dreaming mind is telling you that there is only one way to find the security that cannot be lost: you need to place value on things that are not material, as everything else is at risk. The things that cannot be lost reside in your heart and your spirit. This doesn’t mean you should stop focusing on the material in life; it simply means that you need to find peace and contentment by being more flexible and tolerant in waking life.... Life-and-death Struggle

Life-and-death struggles are common in dreams, but in some cases these dreams end with a struggle to avoid catastrophe. These are the sorts of dream in which almost every stranger turns out to be an enemy. Even the landscape of these dreams is laden with death traps, sharp ravines, wild fires, dangerous animals and so on.

If you have this kind of dream, the chances are you are fighting for survival in some aspect of your waking life. On the other hand, you may be the kind of person who makes ordinary choices and decisions as if their survival were at stake. For example, small disappointments or minor upsets send you into meltdown and you are frequently dissatisfied if some invisible inner standard has not been met.

If you are prone to life-and-death dreams, your unconscious is urging you to find a kind of security that cannot be lost. In other words, you need to look at things that are intangible and reside in your spirit and in your emotions, because everything else—since it is out of your control—is at risk. You need to develop greater flexibility and tolerance, and by so doing you can find contentment and peace.

If your life-and-death battle involves a war scene, the emphasis shifts.

Despite war’s disturbing and destructive nature, it can sometimes be represented as a cleansing process that represents a victory of good over evil. However, in dreams war is generally regarded as a warning that dangerous times lie ahead, as well as indicating inner conflicts and deep-seated grievances. An important aid for interpreting dreams of warfare is to remember whether you were on the winning or losing side.

If you were on the winning side, this suggests you are on the right track.

If you were on the losing side, what can you learn from the tactics of the winning side? Surprisingly, to dream that you are wounded in battle denotes that you have finally been accepted by your peers.... The Element Encyclopedia

Making Life Easy On Yourself

If you know yourself, then your life works. You do not have problems in one-to-one relationships. You do not set yourself up to be rejected or dumped on, lied to or ripped off. You do not set yourself up to be bored or frustrated, for you are in tune with and following your creative life path. Remember that no one is going to take you by the hand and lead you step by step along the way. If you want insight, ask and you will receive. But you must make your own choices and decisions. It is your life. You are the writer, producer, and director, and you are playing all the roles. Create  whatever you want. You have total freedom. It is only your thoughts that limit you. Your dream symbols help you look at the very thought patterns that are governing your life. Dreams take you to a higher level of consciousness and understanding which has the power to transform your life and your world. The whole purpose is to see objectively the life situations you are creating, survey the limitations and obstacles imposed through your own beliefs, and understand how best to work around or eliminate them. As you work on your own growth, all others will benefit; they will see your light, your knowledge and your truth.  ... Dreampedia

Relationship Dreams At Different Stages Of Your Life

Dreams about relationships are extremely common. This is because the health and survival of your relationships is a primary goal for your unconscious; in your dreams it constantly reviews your relationship options, mulls things over and tries to identify what went wrong and how to do things better. It may also give you a glimpse of how different things might be if you married someone else, had an affair or got divorced.

Although the following dreams can occur at any stage of your life, you may find that the focus of your relationship dreams shifts during your lifespan. In your teenage years, dream scenarios in which you are suddenly thrown together with someone to whom you are attracted are very common. The goal of the dream is to help you determine if someone is or is not interested in you in waking life. By the mid-twenties, however, relationship dreams move beyond initial attraction and begin to explore who is or is not right for us. This is the time when strangers, celebrities and friends tend to appear as dream lovers and partners. You may find the images shocking but it is important to bear in mind that the images are unlikely to represent the real person and more likely to represent qualities that you are evaluating.

During your thirties and forties, romantic dreams focus on explanations for why relationships may have disappointed in the past and offer dreams that can show you what to go after or avoid in the future. Dreams in which your current partner or lover is unfaithful are extremely common at this time; it is as if your dreaming mind is urging you to pay attention to your relationship, and secure or safeguard what you have.

During your fifties and sixties, dreams shift their focus onto things you have learned to value in your life. Past and present partners become shorthand symbols for the quality or experience you had with them. For example, your first lover represents passion and excitement or the partner who was unfaithful represents someone who cannot be trusted. Although you may dream of people from your past, your dreaming mind is using them as symbols to refer to your current relationships. From your seventies onwards, dreams are more likely to zoom in on the very nature of love itself to help you gain a deeper understanding of love and affairs of the heart.... The Element Encyclopedia

Reptiles, Lizards, Snakes

Our basic spinal and lower brain reactions, such as fight or flight, reproduction, attraction or repulsion, sex drive, need for food and reaction to pain. This includes the fundamental evolutionary ability to change and the urge to survive—very powerful and ancient processes. Our relationship with the reptile in our dreams depicts our relat- edness to such forces in us, and how we deal with the impulses from the ancient pan of our brain.

Modern humans face the difficulty of developing an independent identity and yet keeping a working relationship with the primitive, thus maturing/bringing the primitive into an efficiently functioning connection with the present social world.

The survival urge at base might be kill or run, but it can be transformed into the ambition which helps, say, an opera singer meet difficulties in her career. Also the very primitive has in itself the promise of the future, of new aspects of human consciousness. This is because many extraordinary human functions take place unconsciously, in the realm of the reptile/spine/lower brain/right brain/autonomic nervous system. Being unconscious they are less amenable to our waking will. They function fully only in some fight or flight, survive or die, situations.

If we begin to touch these with consciousness, as we do in dreams, new functions are added to consciousness. See The dream as extended perception under ESP and dreams.

frog

Unconscious life or growth processes which can lead to transformation (the frog/prince story); the growth from childhood vulnerability—tadpole to frog—therefore the process of life in general and its wisdom. Frogspawn: sperm, ovum and reproduction.

lizard

Example: ‘My wife and I saw a large lizard on the wall near a banana. It was there to catch the flies.

The lizard turned so it was facing away from us—head up the wall. We then were able to see it had large wing-like flaps which spread from its head in an invened V. With amazement we saw on these flaps wonderful pictures, in full colour, of birds. In fleeting thoughts I wondered if the bird “paintings” were to attract birds, or were some form of camouflage. But I felt cenain the lizard had “painted” these wonderful pictures with its unconscious an’ (David T). Generally, a lizard is very much the same as a snake, except it lacks the poisonous aspect; awareness of unconscious or instinctive drives, functions and processes. In the above dream, the banana is both David’s pleasure and sexuality, while the lizard is the creativity emerging from his unconscious through the attention he is giving it—he is looking at the lizard. Chameleon: either one’s desire to fade into the background, or adaptability.

snake

Example: A small snake about a foot long had dropped down my shirt neck. I could feel it on the left side of my neck Fearing it was poisonous and might bite me, I moved very slowly. At one point I put my head on the ground, hoping the snake would wish to crawl away. It did not. Then I was near an elephant I loved, and hoped it would remove the snake. It did not. Even as I slept I felt the snake was an expression of the attitude of not shanng myself with anybody except family’ (David T).

For months prior to the above dream David had experienced a great deal of neck pain. After discussing the dream with his wife, and realising much of his thinking and feeling was intumed, the pain disappeared. So the snake was both poisoner’ and ‘healer’. This may be why snakes are used as a symbol of the medical profession.

The Hebrew word for the serpent in the Garden of Eden is Nahash, which can be translated as blind impulsive urges, such as our instinctive drives.

So, generally, snakes depict many different things, but usually the life process.

If we think of a person’s life from conception to death, we see a flowing moving event, similar in many ways to the speeded up films of a seed growing into a plant, flowering and dying.

The snake depicts the force or energy behind that movement and purposiveness—the force of life which leads us both to growth and death. That energy —like electricity in a house, which can be heat, power, sound and vision—lies behind all our functions. So in some dreams the snake expresses our sexuality, in others the rising of that energy up our body to express itself as digestion—the intestinal snake; as the healing or poisonous energy of our emotions and thoughts.

Example: ‘I was in a huge cathedral, the mother church. I wanted to go to the toilet/gents. As I held my penis to urinate it became a snake and reached down to the urinal to drink. It was thirsty. I struggled with it, pulling it away from the unclean liquid. Still holding it I walked to a basin and gave it pure water to drink’ (Bill A). Here the connection between snake and sexuality is obvious. But the snake is not just Bill’s penis.

It is the direction his sexual urges take him he is struggling with. Out of his sense of love and connection with life— the cathedral—he wants to lift his drive towards something which will not leave him with a sense of uncleanness. Snake in connection with any hole: sexual relatedness.

A snake biting us: unconscious worries about our health, frustrated sexual impulse, our emotions turned against ourselves as internalised aggression, can poison us and cause very real illness, so may be shown as the biting snake. Snake biting others: biting remarks, a poisonous tongue.

A crowned or light-encircled snake: when our ‘blind impulses’ or instinctive or unconscious urges and functions are in some measure integrated with our conscious will and insight, this is seen as the crowned snake or even winged snake. It shows real self awareness and maturity. In coils of snake: feeling bound in the ‘blind impulses’ or habitual drives and feeling responses. Instincts and habits can be redirected, as illustrated by Hercules’ labours. Snake with tail in mouth: sense of the circle of life—binh, growth, reproduction, aging, death, rebirth; the eternal. Snake coiling up tree, pole, cross: the blind instinctive forces of life emerging into conscious experience—in other words the essence of human expenence with its involvement in pain, pleasure, time and eternity; the process of personal growth or evolution; healing because personal growth often moves us beyond old attitudes or situations which led to inner tension or even sickness. Snake in grass: sense or intuition of talk behind your back; danger, sneakiness. Colours: green, our internal life process directed, perhaps through satisfied feelings, love and creativity, into a healing process or one which leads to our personal growth and positive change; white, eternal aspect of our life process, or becoming conscious of it; blue, religious feelings or coldness in relations. See colours; anxiety dreams; death and rebirth, the self under archetypes; dreams and Ancient Greece; cellar under house, buildings; hypnosis and dreams; jungle; paralysis. ... Snake

(Boy; Contemptible person; Enemy; Hidden treasure; Idolatry; Innovators; Power; Unjust ruler; Woman) A snake in dream represents a person who lives in a valley.

A snake in a dream also means enmity from one’s in-laws or children, or it could represent the evil andjealousy of one’s neighbor.

A sleeping snake in a dream means a sleeping enemy. As for an unjust person, a water snake in a dream means receiving help, or it could represent a verdict. Owning a snake in a dream means gaining power and authority. Its flesh represents enemy money, or it could mean joy.

Snake

In some cultures snakes are highly regarded and symbolize the ability to transcend into higher levels of consciousness or into areas of knowledge that exist outside perceived time and space. In the pre-Christian days, snakes were considered symbols of fertility, healing, and nurturing (the healing serpent representing a god). Post Adam and Eve, snakes are often considered symbols of temptation and evil, anger, and envy. Snakes emerging out of the ground may represent your unconscious or repressed materials coming to your conscious mind. Freud thought that the snake was a phallic symbol.

It is amazing how many people have snake dreams! Most snake dreams seem to be disturbing and they leave the dreamer feeling anxious and afraid. There are no simple interpretations to the snake dreams. Each dreamer must consider their own situation and all of the details of the dream. Sometimes snakes may be phallic symbols and other times they represent negativity in our lives that hampers our progress and constantly threatens us. In the long run the snake may be a positive symbol; it may represent difficulties that lead us to the center of personality and result in feelings of completeness.... The Bedside Dream Dictionary

Dreams of a snake signify wisdom, intuition and that you are connecting with your unconscious, mystery and untamed power.

The snake is also a phallic symbol that could represent sexual healing or it could reveal sexual trauma.

The snake, because it sheds its skin, represents your ability to release old incarnations, attachments and identities and reinvent yourself. Also, many religious teachings depict the snake to be evil, as in the Garden of Eden, revealing temptation and even the devil. Snake

In common with serpent dreams, snake dreams occur when we are attempting to come to terms with our more instinctive self. Inevitably this has to do with the recognition and harnessing of energies that have been suppressed and thwarted. Since the most primeval urge is sexuality, the image of the snake is the most primitive one available. Because snakes are such a low form of life, while also being in some cases poisonous, they have become associated with death and all that man fears.

A snake twined around the body or limb indicates some form of bondage, possibly being enslaved to the passions.

A snake, or worm, leaving a corpse by its mouth sometimes represents the sexual act (the little death), but can also signify our control of our libido.

A snake in the grass image denotes disloyalty, trickery and evil.

The image of a snake with its tail in its mouth is one of the oldest available to man and signifies completion and the union of the spiritual and physical. Being swallowed by a snake shows the need and ability to return to the ultimate and lose our sense of space and time.

Dreaming of a snake twined around a staff or similar suggests that the unconscious forces that drive us are being released to create healing, rebirth and renewal.

Snake

There is a significant amount of change or transformation in your life if you dream of snakes. Snakes can inspire great and varied personal emotions and therefore can ultimately connect to very different shades of meaning based on your associations. But first and foremost, snakes represent change and transformation. This connects to the fact that they shed their skin in their growth process and that many of them are capable of causing fatality to their predators, implying the symbolic rebirth that follows any death experience. There is a healing element to this, as many snake venoms can also be used as curatives. This may connect to the two snakes that appear on the physician’s caduceus, representing the challenge to life and the response of the healer to match it. In the Judeo-Christian tradition, the snake bears the responsibility for tempting Adam and Eve. As such, a snake can represent a confrontation with a change in your value system.

It is important to remember that Adam and Eve’s yielding introduced the human race to the knowledge of mortality and the birth of consciousness.

A serpent in your dream may actually represent a major shift in your awareness that may bring about the death of an old paradigm that brings you into a whole new world. In Eastern cultures, the awakening of spiritual power is often referred to as a snake. Known as kundalini, it is experienced as an incredible energy that undulates up the spine. Stimulating this can induce a tremendous healing force that has the ability to purify the nervous and glandular systems.

The practice of yoga is designed to awaken the snake that lies dormant at the base of the spine. As a dream symbol, a snake could represent the potential for power and energy if properly channeled.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

Snake

Serpents are ancient symbols, often associated with goddesses of fertility. Because they live in the ground, serpents may represent the healing, nurturing earth; they can also symbolize knowledge. In some cultures in southern Asia, serpents symbolize primordial spiritual power. Alternatively, they may be emblems of the mysterious dangers of the underworld.

The Christian tradition incorporated the latter meaning into its mythology, making snakes an embodiment of evil, particularly the evil of temptation (e.g., the snake in the Garden of Eden). For this reason, in Western cultures especially, snakes are images for people who are sneaky and deceptive.

The cliché, “they behave like a snake in the grass,” captures this derogatory reference.... Dream Symbols in The Dream Encyclopedia

Snake

Snakes are archetypal symbols that have both negative and positive associations, being on one hand thought evil predators and on the other hand agents of healing and transformation. Dreams that feature snakes in them will also arouse different reactions depending on your associations with snakes in waking life.

If you are like most people and snakes arouse fear and loathing in you then if your dream focuses on a snake it may well turn into a nightmare. Snakes can often represent intimidating situations in waking life.

The most common dream is of a pit of snakes or piles of snakes lying on the floor around you; this may represent the many worries that are threatening you, or the poisonous words and innuendo of people around you. If, however, you admire snakes or keep them as pets, your dream is unlikely to have been sinister. Dreams that feature snakes poised to strike their victims with venom or suffocate them with their coils may be warning you about an emotionally cold person who is suffocating you in waking life. Is there a viper in your midst or a snake in the grass, someone who appears friendly but who is about to stab you in the back? Your dream may also have been influenced by Christian symbolism of the serpent in the Garden of Eden; the snake may have represented someone who is trying to tempt you to deviate from your moral code of conduct.

The snake’s positive associations date back to ancient Greece and Rome; the Greek god Hermes (the Roman Mercury), for example, bore two entwining snakes around his neck to symbolize the harmonization of two conflicting forces.

If the snake doesn’t try to attack or harm you in your dream, it may therefore be referring to physical or emotional healing that has begun in your waking life.

If the snake sheds its skin in your dream, this may indicate your desire to cast off the past. According to Freud, the snake is a phallic symbol so it could also denote repressed sexual urges or fears of masculine energy that are creating power issues in your relationships. Besides being an obvious phallic symbol, for Jungians the snake embodies the dark incomprehensible and mysterious aspects of the self that must be contained. In addition, in the Indian mystical tradition, the kundalini snake is a symbol of latent energy, instinct and sexuality, so your dream may also have represented your spiritual or intellectual awakening.

Pythons in dreams embody the power to dominate a situation by having a potent grasp on it. If, in your dream, the python is not a menacing but a benevolent presence, it is likely to be a reminder of your power to cope with a challenge by wrapping yourself around it. Pythons can also represent people or situations who are trying to put the squeeze on you in waking life. For example, a jealous lover who watches your every move or a financial commitment that limits your freedom to spend.... The Element Encyclopedia

Snake / Serpent

See Poisonous Snake. More than anything else, this is a symbol of fear.

It is also often a sexual symbol, and a symbol of wholeness, transformation, and rebirth, as in Ouroboros.

A symbol of the dark feminine and deception, it also represents wisdom and cunning. Almost every woman dreams about serpents at least once in her life, which could mean fear of a rival or of the male gender.

The serpent stands for physical drives.

If something is not right in that area, snake dreams appear.

The image of the serpent may also refer to the “water of life,” since it comes from inside the earth where the healing springs originate.

The Caduceus, the staff of Aesculapius, a symbol of the healing arts, shows two serpents winding around it. In the sacred temple of Aesculapius, serpents crawled on the floor of the sleeping halls. They were said to induce healing dreams.

According to 2nd century dream interpreter Arte- midorus, dreaming about serpents indicates healing and the return to vitality.

It is also a symbol of immortality (shedding of the skin—rebirth).

The “Midgard-serpent” and the “Ferris wolf’ in Norse mythology threaten the gods as the world comes to an end.

The serpent is also the symbol for secret wisdom and the revelation of the hidden. Snakes are quick, attracted by fire and the birth of energy.

A snake steals from Gilgamesh (hero of the Sumerian epic) the herb of immortality, while he is taking a bath in a pond. In Greece, Gaia, the goddess of the earth, produces two half-serpents called Titans, who do battle with Zeus.

For the Gnostics of late antiquity, the serpent symbolized the dark, deep, and unfathomable side of God.

The serpent is also a symbol of Kundalini (the yogic life force). In ancient Greece, serpents were even honored publicly, because they were believed to be ghosts of the dead.

Snakes appear suddenly, out of the unknown, creating fear.

It is impossible to have a meaningful communication with them; they are secretive and fear-inducing, as is the unconscious. Their poison is sin, their wisdom transformation and deliverance. According to Early Christian imagination, when a snake was attacked, it would only protect its head.

According to Freud, a phallic symbol. According to Jung, the image of the snake means that something important is taking place in our unconscious; it may be dangerous or healing. See Eel.... Little Giant Encyclopedia

Snake / Snakes

If the snake bit you
In this case, the snake likely has less to do with others in your life, and more to do with you specifically, your health.

The meaning of a snake bite in a dream can be counterintuitive: “The bite is similar to a shot being administered,” Loewenberg says. “So if a snake bites you in a dream, ask yourself if there are any health issues that are beginning to get better or an emotional wound that seems to be healing.” Or, “the snake bite could signify that you are the victim of someone’s critical or ‘biting’ remarks.”

A venomous snake
Dreaming of poisonous snakes heralds the advent of bad events. The snake bites can be seen as “poisoning” your life. Furthermore, the snake reflects bad and deceptive behavior, or even difficult life events (problems).

It can either mean that your thoughts are toxic and poisonous, or you keep surrounding yourself by something that is poisoning your life (bad people, addictive substances, junk food, doubts or worries).

Being strangled by a snake in a dream
You are about to say something that you might regret later. This dream wants to protect you from doing so. In other words – think twice, speak once.

Being chased by a snake
The snake that chases you expresses a sense of internal danger. There are many possible causes – from the fear of maternity to the fear of success at work. The dream is a mirror of reality, so you should understand it as a challenge to understand everything that is still unconscious.

If you do not recognize a particular person in the snake that is chasing you, start thinking about what is bothering you in general. Think about what stresses you out the most, because these are probably unnecessary worries that make your life more difficult.

A snake that ignores you in a dream
You’re afraid of losing something valuable. There will probably be no loss, but the fear of it greatly limits and stresses you out. You may be afraid of losing valuable things, a car or a house due to distraints, but in fact, you will not lose anything.

Fear of being bitten by a snake in a dream
You are unnecessarily putting yourself in a challenging situation where you are losing or don’t have full control over your life because you are weakened and are thus a simple target for people with bad intentions. That can be frightening; often this indicates a fear that someone in your life is going to cause you harm. Evaluate your relationships and consider which ones are toxic. If there’s someone who might hurt or betray you, it’s time to come to terms with it. On the other hand, a snake bite could also mean something in your life is about to change dramatically, but for the better.

Seeing a dead snake in a dream
A dead snake in a dream can often indicate that you have overcome an obstacle that made your life difficult. It can also predict the end of a difficult situation, or liberation from toxic or self-destructive thoughts.

Seeing a large number of snakes
If you’re seeing a large number of snakes in your dream or are surrounded by snakes, you may be in a life stage where you feel as if it is too much for you or as if you had a heavy load on your shoulders. Your life journey can be full of pitfalls, obstacles, and dangers, and you don’t know how to escape it.

If you dreamed of a boa constrictor
According to Loewenberg, nothing in a dream is ever random, meaning that the species of snake that appears in your dream is significant. (And remember, snakes tend to represent people in your life.) Think about the snake closely — and in particular, consider the way it threatens its prey or predators.

“A boa constrictor is known for squeezing its prey to death,” Lowenberg says. “So a boa constrictor in your dream may be connected to someone in your life who is causing you to feel crowded or constricted, or someone who may be squeezing you financially.”

If you dreamed of a rattlesnake
When a predator or even unaware passerby gets close to a rattlesnake, the venomous serpent will rattle its tail to warn the perceived threat away. Therefore, if a rattlesnake appears in your dream, it may be “warning you about a toxic person in your life or telling you to start paying attention to warning signs a certain person may be displaying.”

If you dreamed of a harmless species, like a garter snake
In this case, you may be able to breathe a sigh of relief. “A garter snake is harmless, so it may represent someone you were originally cautious about but are now realizing is not a threat to you,” Loewenberg says.

If multiple snakes appeared in your dream
Just like the breed of snake, the number of snakes that appear in your dream can hold meaning. “Multiple snakes can represent multiple toxic people or a toxic situation that has many facets to it,” Loewenberg says. Alternatively, “multiple snakes could represent multiple health issues or one health issue that has many elements to it.”

If you dreamed the snake was in your house
If you come across a snake in your house, well, look for potentially toxic people — or stressors — under your roof. (Sorry!) Or, think of it more figuratively. Perhaps, Loewenberg suggests, the menacing individual’s “toxicity is to the point that you are bringing that negativity home with you.”

If you dream the snake was outside
Conversely, if the snake in your dream is outside, Loewenberg says it “can be a message that it’s time to get things ‘out in the open’ with this toxic person.” She adds: “Toxic people continue to poison our lives because we don’t speak up about it.”

If the snake bit a loved one
If a snake attacks a loved one in a dream, then that person could be the one dealing with a health or emotional issue. Or, if you don’t believe the snake has anything to do with health, Loewenberg suggests looking internally and asking yourself if you might be the snake. Ask yourself, “have you been spewing venomous words at this person?”

If the snake bit an enemy
In this scenario, you might be the snake. “To dream someone you dislike gets bitten by snake could reflect your desire to take them down with your own ‘biting’ remarks and ‘wounding’ words,” Loewenberg says.

If a snake appeared in a sensual dream
Snakes can also symbolize male sexual energy — vis-à-vis “their shape,” Loewenberg says. So, if you find yourself sexually interested in a man, snakes may begin to appear in your dreams in a non-threatening manner.

A snake which is shedding its skin
Is indicating transformation and change. Ask yourself how you felt when you dreamed this: were you afraid, excited, or accepting? Is there some sort of upcoming change that you fear? Is your life in a transitory phase? Perhaps the snake is chasing you. That can be pretty terrifying; it may mean you’re avoiding dealing with an unpleasant situation. ... Dreams

Snake Colors

Snakes of different colors
A black or dark colored snake may indicate that there is something ominous going on—or about to happen—in your life, as well as hint at potential problems with past relationships. On the other hand, a yellow or orange snake can indicate happiness and joy, while a bright red one is a sign of intense passion and energy.

Green in dream meaning:
Green is a sign of safety. It means move ahead without fear or worry. Consider this a kind of “green light” for decision-making purposes.

Black in dream meaning:
Black is a sign of evil. If you see a black snake in your dream, it could speak to something dangerous or bad.

Also any dreams of black snakes do not predict anything good. In this case, the snake symbolizes the obstacle you are facing or will face. If you dream of a black snake, it is better to avoid any arguments, disputes and not to sign suspicious contracts.

Avoid anything that could endanger you.

Red in dream meaning:
Red means stop. Should you see a red snake, it could be your mind’s way of urging you to abandon what you are doing and rethink your approach.

Yellow in dream meaning:
Yellow is a sign of caution. This could be your unconscious trying to tell you to proceed carefully.

Light-colored/yellow snake in a dream
There’s something you really want, but you’re not going after it because you’re afraid of the unknown or something new you’re not used to. Because of such fear, you may lose a good job offer or something else that would be very beneficial for your life.

Blue in dream meaning:
Blue is a sign of conflict. Whenever you see a blue snake it dreams, think of this as representative of something you are internally confused about.

Brown in dream meaning:
Brown is a sign of health: Should you see a brown snake in your dream, its presence may speak to health concerns.

Purple in dream meaning:
Purple means passion. Rarely, some people dream about purple colored snakes. Almost always, they represent love and passion.

Orange in dream meaning:
Orange means family. Sometimes, a snake will appear with an orangish color. Almost always, this is symbolic of someone close, like a parent, child or sibling.

White in dream meaning:
White means purity and innocence. If you dream about a white snake, it could speak to some aspect of yourself that is vulnerable.

A white snake in a dream
If you saw a white snake on the floor or another solid surface, it means that you have a clear mind, you finally know what it is that you want to achieve and what steps you need to take. You may also feel that you are finally standing “firmly on the ground”.

If you saw a white snake in the water, it means regeneration and purification of your soul. It can also predict good health or pure intentions.... Dreams

Snake(s)

In its psychological interpretation a snake in your dream is a phallic symbol, and to dream of one, especially if it was coiled around you, or otherwise on your body, is a warning that you may be a slave to either your sexual passions or repressions.

However, according to the oracles, snakes in a dream are warnings of various troubles, obstacles, or treachery.

Of course the colors and other details must be carefully considered, but as a general rule: to dream that you were bitten by one portends a period of struggle against unfortunate circumstances, and if it was a cobra, it carries a special warning to guard against accidents in the following few weeks.

If your dream featured a snake wound around you which you could not throw off, you are being warned to expect treachery where you least suspect it To dream of being surrounded and unable to kill more than one or two indicates that you are in danger of being seriously cheated by someone you trust but if you managed to kill (or get rid of) them all, it is a sign that you will succeed in spite of any hostile opposition; to walk over snakes without trying to kül them suggests that you wffl, in the end, actually turn the tables on those who are trying to block your way.

To dream of playfully handling snakes suggests that you are in danger of being led astray by unprincipled friends or associates; and if your dream featured a professional snake charmer at work, it indicates that you wfll have to defend your reputation against malicious gossip.... Snakes

For a woman to dream that a dead snake is biting her, foretells she will suffer from malice of a pretended friend.

To dream of snakes, is a foreboding of evil in its various forms and stages.

To see them wriggling and falling over others, foretells struggles with fortune and remorse.

To kill them, you will feel that you have used every opportunity of advancing your own interests, or respecting that of others. You will enjoy victory over enemies.

To walk over them, you will live in constant fear of sickness, and selfish persons will seek to usurp your place in your companion’s life.

If they bite you, you will succumb to evil influences, and enemies will injure your business.

To dream that a common spotted snake approaches you from green herbs, and you quickly step aside as it passes you, and after you had forgotten the incident to again see it approaching and growing in dimensions as it nears you, finally taking on the form of an enormous serpent; if you then, after frantic efforts, succeed in escaping its attack, and altogether lose sight of it, it foretells that you will soon imagine you are being disobeyed and slighted, and things will go on from bad to worse. Sickness, uneasiness and unkindness will increase to frightful proportions in your mind; but they will adjust themselves to a normal basis, and by the putting aside of imaginary trouble, and masterfully shouldering duties, you will be contented and repaid.

To dream that a snake coils itself around you and darts its tongue out at you, is a sign that you will be placed in a position where you will be powerless in the hands of enemies, and you will be attacked with sickness.

To handle them, you will use strategy to aid in overthrowing opposition.

To see hairs turn into snakes, foretells that seeming insignificant incidents will make distressing cares for you.

If snakes turn into unnatural shapes, you will have troubles which will be dispelled if treated with indifference, calmness and will power.

To see or step on snakes while wading or bathing, denotes that there will be trouble where unalloyed pleasure was anticipated.

To see them bite others, foretells that some friend will be injured and criticised by you.

To see little snakes, denotes you will entertain persons with friendly hospitality who will secretly defame you and work to overthrow your growing prospects.

To see children playing with them, is a sign that you will be nonplussed to distinguish your friends from your enemies.

For a woman to think a child places one on the back of her head, and she hears the snake’s hisses, foretells that she will be persuaded to yield up some possession seemingly for her good, but she will find out later that she has been inveigled into an intrigue in which enemies will tantalize her.

To see snakes raising up their heads in a path just behind your friend, denotes that you will discover a conspiracy which has been formed to injure your friend and also yourself.

To think your friend has them under control, denotes that some powerful agency will be employed in your favor to ward off evil influences.

Snakes

Snakes are one of the most powerful dream symbols known to humankind. They have been both revered and feared since time immemorial. They represent sexual power, resurrection, healing, initiation and knowledge.

• All snakes shed their skin signifying transformation and regeneration. Look at what you need to change and let go of in your life and what needs to be reborn.

• Is there a “snake in the grass” in your life? Are you feeling venomous? If you’re terrified of snakes in real life you may dream of them in response to this phobia.... The Premier in Dream Dictionary

Stages Of Life

In his 1930 essay ‘Stages of Life’, Jung postulated four stages of life— childhood, youth, middle age and old age—based on his own clinical observations.

He viewed youth as a period of expanding consciousness, middle age as a period of questioning long-held convictions, and old age as a period of increased introspection and preoccupation with self-evaluation. According to Jung, dreams are important tools of self-discovery for you, whatever your age or life stage.

This is because in every stage of your life you will face many challenges: emotional, intellectual, spiritual and physical. These challenges can trigger fascinating dreams, some of which can help you to meet those challenges and pass on to the next phase of your development.

Jung believed that what prevents people from becoming independent, fulfilled and ultimately happy is their refusal to open themselves to change or to new and unfamiliar experiences that potentially threaten their sense of self. His approach to finding balance in every stage of life was through the analysis of dreams and a process he called ‘individuation’. Dreams are a powerful tool for self-discovery and individuation is a self-analysis, a self-discovery, a way of analysing your own reactions and responses at every life stage so you can discover what truths lie underneath your conscious and egocentric personality.

In this chapter you will explore dreams that are believed to be typical of distinct life stages; some dream analysts refer to them as ‘developmental dreams’. This is because they seem particularly to reflect the typical stresses, questions and issues you may face at specific times in your life. This makes sense as you would expect the dreams you had when you were fifteen to reflect the concerns of your life as a teenager, just as you would expect the dreams you have now to have evolved into a mirror of your current situation and age group. Bear in mind, however, that how the stresses and challenges of your current life stage is represented in the dream world depends upon your personal circumstances, your sleep patterns and your ability to remember your dreams.

Bear in mind, too, that it is possible to have any one of these dreams even if you don’t fit the life-stage profile that coincides with it.

Dreams of death will also be explored in this chapter, as death is the final stage or change that comes to us all. Although dreams of death may explore your feelings about death or represent potential you may have missed or not expressed in general, dream analysts believe that such dreams represent the ending of one phase so a new one can begin. They reveal forthcoming finalities such as the end of a relationship or career and should not be interpreted literally. Because in the past we were terrified at the idea of death, it also represents upheaval, calamity and the sense that things will never be the same again. It was something that could only be endured but never be understood. Today, as our attitudes towards death have changed, death in a dream represents a challenge that cannot be avoided and which must be confronted if progress is to be made in waking life.

The message is that some approach or attitude to life needs to be changed or adjusted; if you can find the courage to make that adjustment successfully, there can be a fresh start or a new beginning.

The Tree Of Life

Spiritually and in dreams, the tree is a symbol of the Tree of Life; an ancient idea common to many cultures and mythologies. Often regarded as an all-nourishing, all-giving Mother, many myths speak of the Tree of Life or World Tree as involved in the creation of the universe.

Britain was once covered by mighty oak, lime and pine forests, and reverence for trees is a major feature within Celtic religion, reflecting a link between the upper and lower worlds. Druids had their teaching center in the midst of oak groves, and the words for wood and wisdom are similar (Welsh gwydd and gwyddon). The Celtic Tree of Life is one of the most popular and enduring motifs of Celtic art, found both on Northumbrian and Celtic crosses and on illuminated manuscripts. It is also portrayed variously as the Golden Bough, vine, or mistletoe. The ancient Celts envisioned the cosmos in the form of a great tree, whose roots were deep in the earth and whose branches stretched to the heavens.

The Celtic Tree of Life is therefore a symbol of balance between these worlds; the unification of above and below; a symbol of balance and harmony. Its branches and roots form a map of the cosmos wherein all things are interwoven and connected; it dwells in three worlds—a link between heaven, earth and the underworld. In dreams the appearance of the Tree of Life or any kind of tree can therefore be a powerful symbol of harmony, success, integration and fulfillment.

These can be achieved in waking life when there is a union between the material and the spiritual, and the feminine and masculine aspects of your personality.... The Element Encyclopedia

Typical Dreams Of Later Life

Dreams in later life can be extremely tense and memorable; two of the most common are dreams of losing your purse or wallet and dreams of getting lost. The former dream reflects frustration and anxiety, and the experience of change as loss and threat. The latter is about trying to find your way through a situation that seems unfamiliar. In this second dream you typically find yourself in a strange neighborhood and, if you do stop to ask for directions, people give you the wrong ones. This dream represents a situation that is unfamiliar; the advice of others is not only unhelpful, it can actually make matters more confusing. The dream is reminding you that the more closely you follow your instincts or intuition, the easier it will be to find your way home or have self-knowledge.
