Holding

Example: ‘I am a prisoner in a room with three boys aged three, five and fourteen. They seem to be my children. There are two prison warders, a man, a woman.

The man was subservient to the woman who holds the keys and keeps control’ (Carol J). There are five aspects to holding.

To control, as in controlling or holding one’s breath’; to be able to manipulate, kill or do something with what is held; this includes holding on to something for support or protection.

Ownership—this is mine, to share or not.

In touch with, knowing; having a grasp’ of.

Responsibility, left ‘holding the baby’; one’s situation.

Intimacy, taking to oneself, taking hold of oneself, as in masturbation; as in the following example: ‘I was in a large removal van with a woman sac on my lap. I held her breasts with pleasure1 (Tony C).

Jesus

(God’s prophet Jesus son of Mary, upon both of them be peace.) One who sees God’s prophet Jesus upon whom be peace, in a dream is a blessed man, a generous one, an ascetic who pleases his Lord, who is filled with contentment, who travels excessively and may acquire knowledge about medicine and herbs.

It is said that whoever sees Jesus in a dream will be protected against calamities for that year.

If he asks or wishes for something, he will receive it, and if he learns a trade, he will become successful at it. One who sees Jesus upon whom be peace, in a dream will become an ascetic, travels throughout the land, escape from his enemy and may become a renowned physician.

If one sees Jesus son ofMary in a town looking into people’s conditions, it means that calamities will be lifted away from that place, and people will live in peace and tranquility for a while.

If one sees him together with his mother, upon both of them be peace, it means that a great miracle, or a sign of divine magnitude will manifest in that location.

If one sees himself in a dream as Jesus (uwbp), or if he wears one of his garments, or performs a duty suitable for God’s prophet, it means that he will rise in rank.

If he is a scholar, it means that his knowledge will be widely spread and his virtues and servitude will benefit others, or ifone is a physician, it means that he will become renowned and most successful. Ifone who sees him is struck by fear and reverence in his dream, it means honor, power and blessing wherever he may go.

If a sick person sees him in a dream, it means that he will recover from his illness.

If one sees Jesus sick, it means one’s own death. In general, to see Jesus in a dream means miraculous events, social justice and economic growth.

If a pregnant woman sees Jesus upon whom be peace, in her dream, it means that she will beget a child who will grow to become a physician. SeeingJesus upon whom be peace in a dream also could denote doubt about one’s religion, philosophical disputes or a discord. Seeing him in a dream also signify the rise ofsome of his followers. Ifone sees Jesus in a dream, he could be accused of something of which he is innocent, or that someone may lie to him or slander his mother. Seeing Jesus and his mother, upon both of them be peace in a dream also could mean distress, sorrow, defamation, moving from one country into another, or it could mean miracles. SeeingJesus upon whom be peace in a dream also means glad tidings, for he was the last of God’s prophets who gave the glad tidings and spoke of God’s Messenger Muhammad, upon whom be peace, as the praiseworthy comforter.

(Poclete; Praclytos. See John 14-15/18, 25/26, 29/30) Seeing Jesus upon whom be peace in a dream also means answering one’s prayers, or wrath against people from the upper social class, or against those who challenged him to bring down a table of food from the heavens then had doubt about God’s power again. Seeing him in a dream also represents bounty, good luck, or having good friends.

If a child sees Jesus in a dream, it could mean that he will grow up as an orphan, or be reared by his mother and live as a scholar and a righteous person, or he may travel frequently between Syria and Egypt. Ifone who is impotent, or sterile sees him in a dream, it means that he will regain his fertility and fruition. Ifone sees Jesus upon whom be peace descending upon a town, it means that justice and righteousness will prevail and permeate that place, as it will be when he shall, by God’s leave, descends upon the earth to kill the impostor (Antichrist) and destroy his followers, obliterate infidelity, and he shall fill the earth with justice, blessings and lend victory to the believers.... Jesus Christ

Always a positive symbol, though at times it can represent a warning.

If you yourself are following Jesus, wearing period garb, and actually observing his work, this could be a past-life memory, especially if the dream is especially vivid. Be sure and write down every detail you remember, because the dream is actually telling you a lot about you as well as about Jesus.

If Jesus is speaking to you in the here and now, again, when you awaken, write down everything he says that you can remember. It could be important.

If you see Jesus coming out of the sky, as in the prophecies of the Rapture, some momentous event is going to make a very major and positive difference in your life.

Jesus, Buddha

You are dreaming of one of the ultimate archetypal character aspects that connects to the highest consciousness available to a human being. In this symbol resides the ability to manifest thought into reality. Jesus and Buddha were remarkable teachers who were able to live the principles of pure love and manifestation in a fashion that can only be described as divine in nature. To limit this term to just these two is in no way meant to dismiss the many other prophets and teachers who have embodied this spirit. While both of them once lived as men, they should be treated as archetypes.

Dreaming of one of them indicates that you are experiencing a high level of self-discovery and integration. Jesus and Buddha exemplify the masculine principle at its highest level of evolution.

The masculine principle connects to the power of thought. Through very different teachings, both of these mystics taught the concept that what you think and believe becomes your reality. They exemplify that it is possible, through love, to experience states of bliss in this often challenging life.

The appearance of one of these great teachers in a dream is to put you on notice that you are in a moment of elevating consciousness and self-integration.

It is not uncommon for an archetypal figure to be silent in a dream, as it is the figure’s mere presence that can be significant.

If words and messages are present in the dream, take them to heart and do so literally. However, if this is not the case, your best use of such a dream is silent gratitude for the gift of a rare and powerful experience of elevated consciousness.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

If it is interpreted as one’s father, then it represents the father’s pride of his son.

If one’s sword is weighing heavy and is being dragged with difficulty in the dream, it means an appointment that is difficult to bear, though one will draw benefits from it. To draw out one’s sword from its sheath in a dream could represent some words one is prepared to say.

If the sword is sharpened, bright and scintillating in the dream, it means that his words will be sweet and true.

If it looks rusted or tarnished in the dream, it means that his words will be harsh and false. Ifthe sword is heavy in the dream, it means that he will say words which are even heavy on him to bear. Ifthe sword has a crack in the dream, it means that his words will be rejected, and his intention will vex.

If one is given a sheath without a sword in a dream, it means that he will keep something in trust.

If the handle of one’s sword breaks in the dream, it means that either one’s father, uncle, aunt, or mother may die shortly.

If the blade breaks in the dream, it means that one’s servant, or assistant-worker may die shortly. Ifone sees swords flying in the air in a dream, they represent a plague.

A sword in a dream also could represent one’s anger, or his tight financial circumstances. Swallowing a sword in a dream means gathering the spoils of war.

Ifone is hit with a sword, and if he loses his hand, his leg, or receives wounds in the dream, it means having an argument that involves one’s father, son, or brother, etcetera, depending which limb and what member of one’s family it represents.

If one’s head is cut off with a sword in a dream, it means that the one who received the blow will triumph over the one who beheaded him, or receive benefits through him. Ifone’s body is dismembered with a sword in a dream, it means that he may travel far, or that his progeny will disperse across the land.

Jung felt that this represented the conscious ego seeking freedom and singularity, separate from one’s place of origin or core group.

A tool that can help or harm. Just as the sword Excalibur could inflict wounds or keep a nation strong, swords represent all the things we have at our disposal—talents, knowledge, resources—that we have the responsibility to use wisely.

Truthfulness. Edged weapons cut through deceit in our dreams to the heart of any situation, even those things in which we deceive ourselves.

Feudal Japan: The emblem of a warrior’s soul.

The Katana is a long sword that represents a samurai’s soul and will, while the Wagasahi was shorter and the implement of honor and defense.

Honorably fighting for a just cause, often taking an integral leadership role in that fight (e.g., “taking up a sword”). Note that kings used a sword to bestow knighthood, and knights in turn regularly swore oaths upon swords.

A masculine emblem and alternative phallus. In pagan Europe, swords were owned by men, and often buried with them, whereas women held the house and land.

Breaking or misplacing a sword reflects the loss of authority or heroic mettle, or falling from an honored position in the eyes of those you respect.

Sword

General Meaning: Primarily a symbol of the Teaching Ministry, the sword can also speak of your authority in Christ.

• In a negative context it speaks of negative words that have been spoken against you.

• Positive: Generally the sword is a picture of power. Of course as believers we receive this power by the Word of God.

• Below are some variations of how we see swords in the spirit. This might differ for each person.

• I am not in agreement with a popular trend in some churches to go around taking actual swords and ‘knighting’ folks. I believe that in all of the Word, these are given to us as a type and a shadow and should be handled spiritually.

• The sword is an allegorical picture of the Word of God.

It is sharp and it divides the truth from the lie.

• If you see a sword bringing a division, then the Lord is about to expose the things that are wrong. This of course is carried out a lot by the teacher, who uses the Word to bring the truth and set God’s people free.

• Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God [is] living, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing apart of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

• So it is no surprise that when I am praying for someone regarding their ministry and I see a golden sword, I know that the Lord is calling them to teacher training.

Negative: Speaking of Using Your Own Strength • To pick up your own sword and try to win the battle without the Lord speaks of doing things in your own effort. In the end you will only perish, because without God’s power you cannot overcome.

• Matthew 26:52 Then Jesus said to him, Put your sword up again into its place: for all those that take [up] the sword will perish with the • sword • Negative Words • The Word says that bitter words are like a sword.

If you see swords coming against you in the spirit, then the Lord is showing you that others have spoken negative words against you and licensed the enemy to attack.

• Psalms 64:3 Who sharpen their tongue like a sword, [and] bend [their bows to shoot] their arrows, [even] bitter words:

Sword

(1) The symbolism may be phallic.

(2) The sword may symbolize consciousness. In what Jung called the first stage of individuation, beginning at puberty, the conscious ego must free itself from the previously all-embracing unconsciousness, in order that the individual may fulfil his or her particular destiny. What the conscious ego has to ‘slay5 is not the unconscious as such, but its ‘devouring-mother5 aspect; and once that is done, the ego must treat the unconscious with respect and cooperate with it. (Compare folktales which depict a hero slaying a dragon with his trusty sword. The same theme appears in those myths of creation in which the creator-god wrestles with and slays the female monster in the primeval ocean and so brings order out of chaos.) Sword

The sword has received special reverence by many peoples. Generally it represents courage, power, and justice, especially in the Christian tradition, when it was reserved only for knights. In parallel, the sword is also a spiritual symbol. Its presence in dreams indicates that you should try to behave according to the attributes that are linked to this weapon. Only then you will triumph. On the other hand, dreams in that contain swords can also have sexual connotations, since these are considered phallic symbols. Consequently, if you are fighting with a sword it may indicate your sexual desires.

Swords

Swords feature in legend, religion and mythology and are often wielded to subdue evil forces, representing the triumph of good over evil. Swords can also denote kingship, as exemplified by ‘Excalibur’, the sword of King Arthur, suggesting justice or the highest source of authority. Being doubleedged, swords can evoke feelings of guilt or remorse, but they also suggest spiritual strength and, like axes, the ability to cut away what is non-essential.
