Anesthetized, Cold Or Dead Body

The image of an anesthetized body can represent a deadening of feeling, or a loss of passion and creativity in waking life. The same meaning applies to coldness of the body, with the implication of emotional coldness, lack of enthusiasm or distancing oneself from others.

If the coldness is in the lower part of the body, this suggests sexual coldness and again, lack of passion. Coldness in the chest (heart) suggests lack of feelings or feeling cold towards someone.

Cold feet indicate a fear of doing something or indecision. The image of a dead body in a dream depicts feelings and potential to which we have not given expression in daily life.... The Element Encyclopedia

Black Person

Depends which skin colour one has.

If white: one’s natural drives, feelings about coloured people; or if person is known, what you feel about them.

If black or brown: one’s own cultural feelings; same as any person’ dream.

Example: \ was in a cubicle or small toilet with a very black coloured woman. She told me there was something wrong with her vagina. She was undressed. I rubbed her vagina and we both felt enormous passion. I then awoke but couldn’t at first remember the dream. I have refrained from sexual intercourse for some weeks, as I always feel shattered/ tired afterwards. Anyway I woke very wet, yet couldn’t remember any orgasm. I could remember some question of sex as I awoke. Then I remembered the dream and continued it in fantasy. I experienced powerful urges to find a woman to have a non-committed sexual relationship with. But in the end I wanted to share my feelings with my wife, but she seemed deep asleep and unresponsive. When I slept again I dreamt I was in London, had got off one bus, but was not at any destination. I was standing about not making a move to find my direction. Then I began to look’ (Alfred C).

To understand this dream in some depth it is helpful to think of a sexual drive as a flow, like a river. As such it can be blocked, in which case it will seek an alternative route. Sexual energy or flow is not simply a mechanical thing, ihough; it is also deeply feeling in its connection with the most profound sides of human life such as parenthood and the canng and providing for young. In the history of white people a great deal of sexual frustration has arisen out of the ideas of sin and guilt in their religion.

A view arose for the white race that the black races had an easier and less frustrating relationship with the natural —which includes not only sexuality but the body as a whole, and nature also. So when Alfred dreams of the black woman, he is meeting what is natural and flowing in himself, but which he has blocked by his will because he felt shattered after sex.

The pan about the bus shows him trying to find a direction in which his sexual feelings could move satisfyingly in connection with other people.

Unfonunately, as Jung points out in Man and His Symbols, people in modern society, whether black, yellow, brown or white, have lost their sense of nature and the cosmos as being anything other than processes without consciousness or living feeling. Jung says. No river contains a spirit, no tree is the life principle of a man. no snake the embodiment of wisdom. No voice now speaks to man from stones, plants, and animals, nor does he speak to them believing they can hear.’ The importance of such dreams as Arthur’s is that it shows the passionate relationship between our personality and the pnmitive and natural.

A black person, born and bred in a modern setting, would most likely dream of a black bushman to depict their own natural drives. See identity and dreams; Africa; sex in dreams. ... A Guide to Dreams and Sleep Experiences

Business Card

A business card is a form of identification and is therefore symbolic of the very thing of which it is symbolic in waking life:

A person’s business persona.

It is a tool for connection and solicitation, and in a dream it is connected to the person to whom it belongs.

If someone gives you a business card in the dream, consider the character aspect of that person and what he or she might have to offer you.

The business card itself and the act of passing it along represents your ability to call on those character traits to assist you in some venture.

If the business card in the dream belongs to you, this may connect to a desire to expand your reach in some arena of your life.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

Card

If you are betting your money on cards, it means you want to rely on chance to solve your problems. The unconscious is warning you of this error and invites you to discard the possibility that the problems will solve themselves.

If you are playing a game of cards and demonstrate ability and skill, these will be the qualities that you have in real life. Maybe the dream is telling you to adopt the same courage, strategy, and good timing required in card games. Games such as Twenty-one (or Blackjack) show that we should not let opportunities slip away. Others refer to the need for patience when it comes to making deals. Keep in mind another important detail: the symbolic origin of cards. The deck of fifty-six cards consists of fourteen figures for each of the four suits: coins (circles, discs, wheels), clubs (maces, scepters), swords, and cups. The coin symbolizes material forces; the club, power and control; the cup, love; and the sword action. This symbolism must be taken into account if you remember such details. (See GAME, LOTTERY, BETTING POOL, and ROULETTE)

In a deck of cards, each figure has a meaning. In oneiric terms, diamonds represent wealth; clubs indicate work; hearts predict happiness in love; and spades, finally, portend future problems.... The Big Dictionary of Dreams

Card Game

If you hold all the aces or win a game of poker with a royal flush are you feeling certain that you have a real advantage in the real world, of which those around you are unaware because you are holding your cards close to your chest or being secretive? There are many colloquial expressions associated with cards that your unconscious may be using to relay a message to you. For example, did you‘play your cards right’? Did you‘lay your cards on the table’, thereby revealing your intentions? If you did, your dreaming mind may be encouraging you to be more open about your intentions in real life.

If you had an‘ace up your sleeve’, are you biding your time? In dreamlore, the old proverb‘lucky in cards, unlucky in love’ may filter through into your dreams; some believe that to dream of a winning hand is indicative of unrequited love. Other authorities urge a careful rethink of finances to anyone who experiences a dream win.

If you focused on a particular card, does this have a particular relevance for you in waking life?

Some dream analysts believe that particular suits have particular meanings that can aid dream interpretation. Hearts can suggest joy, happiness, love and romance. Diamonds highlight money concerns but also insights and aspirations. Clubs highlight knowledge, intellect and achieving goals. Spades represent the difficulties of life and warn of obstacles ahead that you will need endurance to overcome.

If the joker appears in your dream, your unconscious may be drawing your attention to someone in your life—perhaps you yourself—who is fooling around... The Element Encyclopedia

Cards

Cards can appear in dreams in many different forms—such as postcards, maps, entrance cards or tickets, playing cards, and business cards.

In the case of playing cards, it implies that you do not take life seriously enough and are taking too many risks. It also may be a suggestion to look at life more as if it were a game and to be less serious.

It is important whether you have good or bad cards in your hand.

If you dream about a particular card, find out the meaning by checking out books about reading cards.

With postcards and maps, refer to the place or area pictured on them.

If you can’t make any connection with the picture, postcards and maps may be an expression of a desire for travel and vacation.

Tickets and business cards point to areas that are normally unavailable to you. In the case of tickets, the specific area depicted is most important: what you are admitted to is an indication of the direction you should take in your life. In the case of business cards and credit cards it is the person who carries them who is important.

A business card shows that you are, or want to be, successful.

A deck of cards: Is the deck complete with 52 cards? If not, you may have fragmentary information about a person or situation.

Playing cards: Consider if you’re gambling on something or someone, or taking an unnecessary risk. Alternatively, having your attention diverted from more legitimate, and worthwhile, endeavors.

Playing an ace: Successfully and confidently making your move, or having an alternative plan of action on which to fall back (e.g., having “an ace in the hole”). In terms of omens and signs, this is considered a very positive dream denoting victory (see One).

Potential mental instability, or lacking thorough information or tools with which to handle a situation (e.g., “not playing with a full deck”).

If the hand you see is filled with jokers, this reflects your own sense of humor. Is it a healthy one, or do you make jokes and laugh to cover up insecurity? Also if you’re the eternal prankster, this dream acts as a gentle warning that someone might get hurt as a result of ill-conceived shenanigans.

Dead

To dream of the dead, is usually a dream of warning.

If you see and talk with your father, some unlucky transaction is about to be made by you. Be careful how you enter into contracts, enemies are around you. Men and women are warned to look to their reputations after this dream.

To see your mother, warns you to control your inclination to cultivate morbidness and ill will towards your fellow creatures.

A brother, or other relatives or friends, denotes that you may be called on for charity or aid within a short time.

To dream of seeing the dead, living and happy, signifies you are letting wrong influences into your life, which will bring material loss if not corrected by the assumption of your own will force.

To dream that you are conversing with a dead relative, and that relative endeavors to extract a promise from you, warns you of coming distress, unless you follow the advice given you. Disastrous consequences could often be averted if minds could grasp the inner workings and sight of the higher or spiritual self.

The voice of relatives is only that higher self taking form to approach more distinctly the mind that lives near the material plane. There is so little congeniality between common or material natures that persons should depend upon their own subjectivity for true contentment and pleasure. Paracelsus says on this subject: ``It may happen that the soul of persons who have died perhaps fifty years ago may appear to us in a dream, and if it speaks to us we should pay special attention to what it says, for such a vision is not an illusion or delusion, and it is possible that a man is as much able to use his reason during the sleep of his body as when the latter is awake; and if in such a case such a soul appears to him and he asks questions, he will then hear that which is true. Through these solicitous souls we may obtain a great deal of knowledge to good or to evil things if we ask them to reveal them to us. Many persons have had such prayers granted to them. Some people that were sick have been informed during their sleep what remedies they should use, and after using the remedies, they became cured, and such things have happened not only to Christians, but also to Jews, Persians, and heathens, to good and to bad persons.’’ The writer does not hold that such knowledge is obtained from external or excarnate spirits, but rather through the personal _Spirit Glimpses_ that is in man.--AUTHOR. ... Dead

If you dreamed that you were dead, this is actually a positive omen. It symbolizes renewal and letting go of an old stage of life. This is also a common dream when you are getting over an illness, and are getting better. However, if you dreamed of dying slowly, you need to drastically change your routine and reenergize your life.

To dream that someone you care about is dead, suggests that you are lacking a certain quality that the loved one represents. Ask yourself what makes this person special or what do you like about them.

It is that very quality that you are lacking in your own relationship or circumstances.

To see dead people in your dream who you do not know in real life, forewarns that you are being influenced by negative people and are hanging around the wrong crowd. This dream may also be a way for you to resolve your feelings with those who have passed on. However, if you spoke with someone who is dead, you may soon hear very good news.

To dream of someone dead coming to life again suggests that you miss them and are trying to relive your old experiences you had with them. Also look up “Zombie”... My Dream Interpretation

Dead

(Person / Animal) / Death

(1) Does the dream contain a dead person you actually knew? If so, the dream may mean you should take notice of what he or she said or did, or of what happened to him or her. The dead person is ‘coming back1, not to haunt but to advise and help you.

There’s really nothing ‘spooky1 about meeting dead people in dreams. Such encounters may help you to fulfil a long-desired deep relationship, or to put something right. For example, you may learn to forgive the person and as a consequence get peace and healing for yourself.

(2) If a deceased partner or parent appears in dreams, (1) above may apply. Bear in mind also that the dead do live on - inside us; and that it is important to realize when this is a healthy and life-enhancing thing and when it is purely negative, stunting our own personal development.

If it is the latter, resolve to have it out with the person the next time he or she appears in a dream.

(3) If the dead person in the dream is actually a living person - and especially if that person is your partner or parent or sibling - the dream may be expressing unconscious resentment towards that person, or a desire to be independent. Feelings towards someone close are often ambivalent: love or respect mixed with fear or hatred or resentment or jealousy.

The usual conscious response to such a dream will be anxiety, and you may even feel anxiety in the dream itself. However, Freud was convinced that in such cases anxiety was a cloak for unconscious - because repressed - hostility’. (On the Oedipus complex) See also Murder.

(4) The dead person may be you (and could stand for you even if in the dream he is distinct from the dream ego). In that case, consider the following possibilities:

(a) What is being expressed in the dream may be your own anxiety’ about dying. Death is inevitable, and facing up to that fact may bring great rewards: self-acceptance; new values; a broadening of one’s personality’, compensating for past omissions or lopsidedness and utilizing hitherto neglected personal resources. This would be specially applicable if vou were in the second half of life.

(b) The message may be that y’our old self needs to be left behind. This mav mean that you must stop carrying around with yrou the crippling burden of vour past (irrational guilt-feelings and martyrdom complex, or any other negative self-programming); and, instead, you must open yourself to what the present moment is offering. Alternatively, the ‘old self5 may be old attachments, habits, ambitions, values, goals; in which case the dream is telling you that the only way forward for you lies through giving these up and looking deeper within yourself for better values, etc. (where ‘better5 means more in tune with your real self).

(Primitive rites of passage, which mark transitional stages in a person’s life - birth, initiation into adulthood, marriage, death - all contain death-and-rebirth symbolism and express a recognition that the dissolving - ‘death5 - of past attitudes is a necessary prelude to the development of new attitudes more appropriate to one’s new stage in life. The symbolic death of the initiate in these rites may also be seen as a descent of the conscious ego into the unconscious: it is the unconscious that provides the means for new growth - ‘rebirth5. See also Sacrifice.)

(c) It is just possible that, if your own death features repeatedly in dreams, it is an expression of an unconscious wish for death. Freud speculated in Beyond the Pleasure Principle that there might be, in everyone, just two contending basic drives: one towards life and love and pleasure (‘Eros’), the other towards death (Thanatos5). This is highly controversial, but it is indisputable that many people display a strong masochistic tendency.

Are you compelled to repeat a painful experience? Do you tend to interpret what other people say as a criticism of yourself? If so, you may be suffering from repressed guilt-feelings and an unconscious urge to punish yourself - which may sometimes take the form of a fate-neurosis and / or a wish (unconscious) to see yourself dead.

If you feel this applies to you, talk to a friend about it or consult a psychotherapist. See also Suicide.

A wish for death may be a retreat from life’s problems and pains, or a response to (a sense of) failure.

If this applies to you, bear in mind, first, that a very sensitive person may also be burdened with an over-severe conscience (the product, perhaps, of having a stem father or a sin-and- guilt religious upbringing). In that case, see the previous paragraph. Secondly, what makes a thing a problem is usually one’s attitude towards it. For example, suppose you have been made redundant.

If your reaction is to see this as a punishment, see the previous paragraph.

If you see it as failure, try to change your attitude or perspective by asking what creative purpose may be being served bv your redundancy: perhaps, for instance, the demolishing of an inadequate or false self- image in order to make way for the construction of one that corresponds more closely to your individual ground-plan or ‘destiny’.

(5) If the gender of the dead person is stressed, the meaning may be that your masculinitv / femininity or your animus / anima needs reviving.

(6) A dead animal in a dream almost certainly refers to some part of you - an instinctive force, perhaps - and the dream will be telling you either that this part of you (e.g. guilt-feelings or inferiority complex) ought to die, because its effects are wholly negative; or that it is a valuable but repressed part of yourself that you must now bring to life, to rectify an imbalance in vour personality.... Dead / Death

Dreams about the dead or about death are not usually omens of literal death, although they may indicate anxiety about death. Violent death may represent anger and aggression, although much depends on the more general tone or “atmosphere” of the dream. When the dreamer dies but is not particularly unhappy or distraught in the dream, death often symbolizes the letting go (or “death”) of an old part of the self or the destruction of a prior stage of life.

This kind of dream death is, in other words, a symbol of self-transformation.

A lifeless corpse, on the other hand, may represent a feeling of devitalization—a kind of death in life that comes from adhering to a lifeless routine. (See also Burial, Coffin, Crypt, Grave, Hearse).... Dream Symbols in The Dream Encyclopedia

Dead End

If you come to a dead end in your dream, your unconscious is telling you there is no way of escaping your fears, even though you feel that it is vital for you to flee. The same interpretation applies a number of similar dreams; whether you are caught in quicksand, forced to carry an impossibly heavy weight, suddenly become paralyzed, find yourself rooted to the spot and powerless to do anything, or find that your feet have become heavy or stuck in the mud when trying to flee someone or something.

If you have such disturbing dreams it is possible that you are facing some kind of emotional crisis in your life that requires a drastic decision; for example, whether you should leave your partner or not.

If you are being chased, identifying who or what was chasing you or why you need to escape may help you decide what course of action to take in real life.

If you don’t know who the person chasing you is, this may stand for certain unpalatable aspects of your personality which have been repressed but which are now forcing you to deal with them. Alternatively, your unconscious may be reflecting on your feelings of powerlessness in regard to a difficult situation in your waking life. Do you feel as if you are caught between a rock and a hard place?... The Element Encyclopedia

Dead Husband Or Wife

Many dreams of dead people come from women who have lost their husband.

It is common to have disturbing dreams for some period afterwards; or not be able to dream about the husband (or wife) at all; or to see the partner in the distance but not get near. In accepting the death, meeting any feelings of loss, grief, anger and continuing love, the dream may become as below.

The example both shows the resolution of the loss, but also the paradox felt at realising the meeting was an inner reality. Example: ‘A couple of months ago as I was waking I felt my husband’s arm across me and most realistically experienced my hand wrapping around his arm and turning towards him (which I had done so often in his lifetime) and saying “1 thought you had died. Thank God you have not.” Then I awoke alone and terribly shaken’ (Mrs I).

A critic might say this is only a dream in which a lonely woman is replaying memories of her dead husband’s presence for her own comfort—thus her disappointment on being disillusioned. Whatever our opinion, the woman has within her such memories to replay. These are reality.

The inner reality is of what experience was left within her from the relationship. Her challenge is whether she can meet this treasure with its share of pain, and draw out of it the essence which enriches her own being. That is the spiritual life of her husband.

The aliveness’ of her husband in that sense is also social, because many other people share memories of him. What arises in their own lives from such memories is the observable influence of the now dead person.

But the dead also touch us more mysteriously, as in the next example. Example: In a recent news programme on television, a man who survived a Japanese prisoner of war camp in Singapore had been given a photograph of children by a dying soldier he did not know.

The man had asked him to tell his family of his death, but did not give his name.

The photograph was kept for 40 odd years, the man still wanting to complete his promise but not knowing how. One night he dreamt he was told the man’s name. Enquiries soon found the family of the man, who had an identical photograph. See husband under family. ... A Guide to Dreams and Sleep Experiences

Dead People Dreams

Example: ‘My husband’s mother, no longer alive, came and slid her arms carefully under me and lifted me up. I shouted “Put me down! Put me down! I don’t want to go yet.” She carefully lowered me on to the bed and disappeared’ (EH). Most dreams in which dead people appear are expressive of our attempts to deal with our feelings, guilt or anger in connection with the person who died, or our own feelings about death. In the example the dreamer is feeling fear about being carried off by death.

When someone close to us dies we go through a period of change from relating to them as an external reality, to meeting and accepting them as alive in our memories and inner life. In the next example the man has not only come to terms with his mother’s and his own death, but also found this inner reality. Example: A dark grey sugar loaf form materialised. This pillar lightened in shade as I watched. It didn’t move. I began to think it was Mrs Molten who died in 1956.

The feeling grew stronger but still the colour lightened. Then it bent over and kissed my head. In that instant I knew it was my mother.

An ecstatic joy and happiness such as I have never known on earth suffused me. That happiness remained constantly in mind for the next few days’ (Mr M). ... A Guide to Dreams and Sleep Experiences

Dead Person / Corpse

To dream of a dead person or corpse usually represents some aspect of your life that has died. It can refer to the death of feelings in connection with someone, to the depression that follows big changes in your life or to the feeling that you are going nowhere. Alternatively, the dead person may be a part of yourself that you want to leave behind or it could be a warning that you are taking too much from life and not putting enough back.

If you dreamed of the death of a loved one who is seriously ill or advanced in years, your unconscious may have been preparing you for their future departure from your life. By exposing you in the dream to emotions that will overwhelm you, your shock may be lessened and thus easier to bear.

Dreams such as this one may also be urging you to tell loved ones how much they mean to you before it is too late. If, in your dream, you felt no emotion at all when a loved one died, the interpretation is likely to be different, as it represents something in your life that is coming to an end or that should end. An alternative explanation is that you fear the death of your relationship, particularly if your partner has withdrawn emotionally from you in the waking world. A dream in which you became a widow or widower or suffer bereavement can indicate feelings of loneliness in waking life.

If you are in a relationship, such a dream may suggest that there is a lack of understanding or a communication breakdown between you and your partner. For dreams of a dead person see GHOSTS.... The Element Encyclopedia

Elderly Person

An unknown elderly person in a dream represents one’s good luck, happiness and one’s assiduity and diligence.

If the unknown elderly person looks strong in the dream, he represents one’s strength. Otherwise, if he looks feeble, then he represents one’s weakness. Whatever physical conditions an elderly person is seen with in the dream, such condition will reflect in one’s own state.

If an elderly person comes toward the person seeing the dream, it means that someone will help him attain a praiseworthy rank. Ifone follows an elderly person in a dream, it means that he follows a good path.

If one sees an elderly person and displeases him in the dream, it means that he will displease a close friend or reject his advice. Ifhe pleases him in the dream, it means that he will consent with a close good friend and they will walk together on the path to reap material as well as spiritual benefits. Ifone sees a gathering of friendly people but could not determine whether they are young or elderly in a dream, it means that he will discover new avenues in his life and he will draw material and spiritual benefits from them.

If he sees a gathering of young people he does not recognize in the dream, it means that he will associate himself with rich people.

If he sees a gathering of elderly people he does not recognize in the dream, it means that he will associate himself with good friends.

If a woman sees an elderly person she could not recognize in the dream, he represents the world.

If a young man sees himself turned into an elderly person in a dream, it means that he will acquire knowledge and wisdom. Listening to a good looking elderly person in a dream means receiving honor and rank.

If an elderly person sees himself turned young in a dream, it represents his strength, wealth, good living and a healthy life, or it could mean material or religious losses, or it could mean his death. Ifan elderly person sees himselfbeingborn again in a dream, it means his death.

If he is ill, it could represent his attachment to the world, and if he is poor, it could denote his earning.

If an elderly person sees himself as a youth in a dream, it could also mean committing a childish act or an unwise act.

A wise elderly person in a dream represents honor, rank, dignity, wealth, blessings and longevity. On the other hand, seeing an elderly person in a dream could represents failure, weaknesses, defeat, disablement or inertness.

Getting Weaker / Getting Stronger

Are you weak in your dreams or so strong you can manage any physical feat required of you? If you are feeling weak, a medical check-up might be required, but it could also suggest that you feel somehow less than perfect in waking life and unable to accomplish what is required of you. Dreams in which you simply can’t keep up with the action or are outrun by the bogey man are experienced more frequently as you age, and may well be your dreaming mind’s way of helping you adjust to the natural aging process.

If your dreams often feature themes of illness or loss of strength and you are concerned by these, see your doctor by all means; the chances are, however, that you feel unable to meet some internal or external commands in waking life. In your dreams, your unmet goals and high standards are making you ill. But dreams in which you have boundless energy and physical power seem to be telling you that you are capable of far more than you realize. In some cases, as with people who are seriously ill or disabled, dreams of extraordinary energy and good health are compensatory or wish- fulfillment dreams.

If, in your dream, you are weak because you have lost weight, this can suggest concern about body image but it can also indicate possessive, demanding behavior from the people in your life. Conversely, gaining weight and strength may show an excessive need for their approval and a childish need for instant gratification. Finally, if other people are watching either your feats of strength or growing weakness in your dream, this suggests that you are preoccupied with themes of competition. Who or what are you trying to compete with, surpass or vanquish?... The Element Encyclopedia

Letter / Parcel / Postcard / Telegram

The arrival of a letter in your dream represents a realization, usually about someone else, or news about yourself. Your reaction to the letter is important. Did you feel anxious, resigned or happy? How you opened the letter is also significant. Did you open it eagerly or did you put it aside unwilling to open it? Whenever a letter appears in your dream, your dreaming mind is telling you that something needs your attention in waking life. Dreaming about receiving letters, just as in daily life, usually represents receiving news, information or messages from someone specific, from your unconscious or from the world at large. You may be coming into greater awareness about some aspect of your life or yourself.

If your dream letters remain unopened, this may represent missed opportunities.

If the letter is black around the edges, this may refer to your feelings about death.

If the letter is from a particular person, this suggests specific feelings or thoughts concerning the person the letter is from.

If you get to read the letter in your dream, try to see if the text has any bearing on your waking life.

If the letter came from abroad, you may be thinking of traveling or are thinking of someone who lives abroad. To dream of writing a letter may tell you of the need to communicate information to someone; a dream of writing several letters may tell you that there are many people you wish to make contact with.

If you dream of sending a letter, this may be a prompt to contact the person to whom you are posting the letter or to impart information to them.

Incomprehensible or unintelligible letters may suggest frustration at being unable to solve some problem. A letter that turns out to be a blank page is a clear sign that you should stop waiting for other people to take the initiative and take the initiative yourself. An anonymous letter can be a message from your unconscious that you need to slow down and reflect on your actions in waking life. While handwriting in a dream letter can reveal personal feelings or communications, a typewritten or word-processed communication implies a more impersonal communication.

Dreams of sending a telegram may occur during times of stagnation or routine in your professional life and may serve as an urgent stimulus to change. Alternatively, dreaming of receiving a telegram may express an urgent yearning to make contact with someone. Because of their indiscreet and fun nature, dreaming of postcards may suggest that you need to be more open with those around you. According to Freud, parcels may symbolize female sexuality.

If you are excited about opening a parcel, this may suggest the heady thrill of a new relationship, but if you do not want to open a parcel, this may express a fear of intimacy with others.... The Element Encyclopedia

Marriage / Wedding

1- A marriage or a wedding in a dream often indicates the uniting of two particular parts of the dreamer which need to come together in order to crcate a better whole.

For instance, the intellect and feelings - or perhaps the practical and intuitive sides may need to be united. Often a marriage or wedding can be precognitive in that one may subconsciously be aware of a relationship between two people, but it has not yet registered on the conscious level. So, to be attending a wedding may indicate that one is aware of such a relationship.

To be dreaming of wearing a wedding dress is to be trying to sort out one’s feelings and hopes about relationships and weddings.

To be dressing someone else in a wedding dress can indicate one’s feelings of inferiority ‘always the bridesmaid, never the bride’.

2- Bccause the human being is always looking for someone to complement him- or herself, to dream of a wedding can give some indication of the type of person we are looking for as a partner. We may, for instance, dream that we are marrying a childhood friend - in which case we are looking for somebody who has the same qualities as that person. We may dream we are marrying a famous figure and again the qualities of that particular person will be important.

3- Spiritually there is a proccss of integration which needs to come about. Firstly the masculine and feminine sides of our personality need to unite, then the physical and spiritual sides need to harmonise. This is usually known as a Mystic Union.... Ten Thousand Dream Dictionary

Marriage, Wedding

One’s marriage or feelings about marriage, uniting two different aspects of dreamer such as intellect and feelings, practical and intuitive self; the ‘marriage’ between conscious and unconscious self—any children of the marriage would be the flowering of new abilities or qualities; sometimes is about what our energy or drive is uniting us with, such as a new business venture or creative scheme—any children of this marriage suggest our intuitive assessment of the likely outcome. Also in some cultures dreaming of a wed- ding signifies a death in the family.

Example: ‘1 am at the wedding of my best friend.

The groom doesn’t turn up and she decides to marry the first person who comes along. I wonder whether this is a good thing to do’ (Mary T).

Dreaming of wedding if single: Mary could equally as well have dreamt she was the bride, but being in her 30s and unmarned it is easier for her to consider or experiment with the idea of marriage using the image of her friend. Should she marry whoever offers? When single one often dreams of marnage as a way of clarifying. What would it be like? Could one succeed in it? Is the present panner OK? How will one achieve it?

Example: ‘When I was engaged to my present husband I dreamt we were married and I looked down at my wedding ring. It was twisted and bent. In fact I now see it as a warning because we have not made a good marriage’ (SW). ... A Guide to Dreams and Sleep Experiences

Meeting A Famous Person

Famous people appear in dreamland just as they do in the media. On the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, thousands of people described how they had dreamed of her. During his presidency, Bill Clinton was also an extremely common dream figure in the United States. His vitality and leadership ability seemed to strike a chord with men and women alike. As they sorted through power issues in themselves and others, dreams of the president offered a forum to explore the dynamics involved. Whenever there is a major event involving someone famous or someone charismatic dominating public awareness, you can expect an upsurge in this type of dream.

Getting to meet your hero or heroine is usually an expression of a wishfulfillment dream. Typically, the celebrity appears as a friend and gives helpful advice. The famous person may be living or from the past, but in your dream you regard them as your best friend. They may even visit you in your home in recognition of the special bond between you.

If you dream of meeting a famous person, ask yourself if you would like more recognition for your star qualities in your waking life.

If this doesn’t apply, ask yourself what the famous person means to you. What psychological characteristics and traits does this person symbolize to you?

Famous people in our dreams are telling us to ‘Go for it!’ by integrating the positive qualities we admire in them into our own personalities. Reflect upon what this person symbolizes for you. The primary qualities you admire may not necessarily be fame, beauty or money. You may place greater value on psychological aspects such as their drive or even recovery from an addiction or tragedy. Get in touch with these aspects of yourself and work to bring them into focus and manifestation. In some cases dreams of meeting famous people don’t highlight feelings of inferiority in waking life they can empower you and add real value. For example, to dream of meeting, talking or even helping a person such as the late Mother Teresa might plant the kernel of an idea into your mind that you might find great satisfaction in voluntary work of charitable donation.

If you dream of meeting the prime minister or president or running for high office, the dream’s interpretation depends on how you rate the value of politicians in society.

If you dream of meeting a famous writer, such as Jane Austen, Charles Dickens or J. K. Rowling, perhaps you have always longed to write a book or perhaps you want to express yourself better in waking life so your opinions can influence or stimulate other people.

If you dream of being a great composer such as Mozart or Beethoven, do you yearn for passion and creativity in your waking life? Mozart represents the tragic image of a great artist cut down in their prime. Mozart also represents effortless beauty achieved through dedication and hard work. Ludwig von Beethoven was a musician of extraordinary talent and his heroic ability to challenge convention and create timeless beauty out of adversity makes his story extraordinary.

If you dream of meeting a great artist, such as Vincent Van Gogh or Leonardo da Vinci, perhaps you have an artistic talent you need to nurture or simply feel that your life should be more creative. Dreams that feature Leonardo da Vinci may evoke in you a desire to share the secrets of his genius. Perhaps you yearn to understand life’s mysteries? If Picasso appears in your dreams, perhaps in conjunction with his famous cubist paintings in which he has broken down a face or a body into its various facets, the dream image may express a need to understand all aspects of your life, observe them separately and then put them together to make sense of them all. To dream of Picasso suggests the importance of observing life’s complexity even if you cannot understand it.

Whatever famous or influential person you meet, or become, your dreams are all ones of aspiration and striving to achieve your ideals. See also PEOPLE; ROLES.... The Element Encyclopedia

Name Of Person, Place

Our name represents our sense of self, our essential T.

If name is altered: suggests a sense of change in the way we see ourself. Other people’s names: our feelings for that person; the quality we feel in regard to someone else with the same name, or wordplay or associations with the name.

A woman dreamt a friend asks her ‘Do you know where Chris is?*; she replied he was on the back seat. On waking she realises she is being asked ‘Where’s the crisis?’ Two weeks later she had a kidney infection—in the back seat. Names also suggest qualities, as in Peter, the rock; or one’s friend Pat may be pleasure loving, so we use the name or person to represent that quality. See wordplay, puns.

Place names: these can represent our feelings about the place, or be similar to personal names in their suggestion of something. Example: ‘On the other side of the road was a window with my wife’s ring and watch and other trinkets. I went to pick them up but a stranger put his hand over them. I then crossed the road to get a bus to Andover’ (Arthur P). Arthur’s dream wants to make sure he gets the message by saying hand-over and Andover.

Idioms: call someone names; clear someone’s name; have a bad name; not a thing to one’s name; in name alone; in the name of; make a name for oneself; name dropper, one’s middle name, name is mud; somebody who shall be nameless; or my name’s not . . .; worthy of the name; name in vain; lend one’s name to; name the day. ... Usually points to too much egotism. Overcoming egotistical notions. Encounters with “others” (either in the form of strangers or the self) are the beginning of building self- awareness and self-knowledge. Often the task at hand is to become consciously aware of oneself. In most cases, the image in the dream is that of a stranger or foreigner who is representing a part of the self. On the other hand, what you believe to be normal (in your own life) is questioned, and you are challenged to seek self- knowledge and to re-examine your lifestyle.... Little Giant Encyclopedia

Playing Cards In Dreams

Long before people used cards to play games, they were used to foretell the future. In fact, playing cards were invented for divination rather than for entertainment. Bear in mind that dreams comment on future possibilities rather than predict the future, but if a particular card is highlighted in your dream, the following traditional divinatory meanings may suggest possible situations you might like to encourage or avoid in your waking life. First of all, the suits are associated with the four elements as follows: Hearts—Water; Clubs—Fire; Diamonds—Earth; Spades—Air. The individual card meanings are as follows:

Ace of Hearts: Love and happiness; a particularly favorable card that indicates troubles lifting.

King of Hearts: A fair-haired man with a good nature; or a man with water signs predominating in his chart; fair, helpful advice. Affectionate, caring man. This man helps you out without much talk; his actions reveal his kindness and concern.

Queen of Hearts: A fair-haired woman with a good nature; or a woman with water signs predominating in her chart; kind advice. Affectionate, caring woman. This card can sometimes indicate the mother or a mother figure.

Jack of Hearts: A warm-hearted friend; a fair-haired youth; or a young person with water signs predominating in their chart; often points to a younger admirer.

10 of Hearts: Good luck; success; this is an important card that suggests good fortune after difficulty.

9 of Hearts: The card of wishes; a wish or dream fulfilled.

8 of Hearts: Unexpected gift or visit; an invitation to a party.

7 of Hearts: Someone whose interest in you is unreliable; someone with fickle affections for you; can indicate lovesickness.

6 of Hearts: A sudden wave of good luck; someone takes care of you or takes a warm interest in you.

5 of Hearts: Jealousy; some ill-will from people around you.

4 of Hearts: Travel; change of home or business.

3 of Hearts: Love and happiness; can also indicate emotional problems and an inability to decide who to love.

2 of Hearts: A warm partnership or engagement; a very favorable card that indicates strength and support coming from a partner.

Ace of Clubs: Wealth, prosperity, unexpected money; can also suggest mismanagement of money.

King of Clubs: Dark-haired, kindhearted man; or a man with fire predominating in his chart; a generous, spirited man.

Queen of Clubs: Dark-haired, confident woman; or a woman with fire predominating in her chart; she may give you good advice.

Jack of Clubs: A dark-haired or fiery youth; a popular youth who is good-hearted and playful; can also indicate an admirer.

10 of Clubs: Business success; good luck with money; a trip taken now may result in a new friend or love interest.

9 of Clubs: Achievement; sometimes a wealthy marriage or sudden windfall.

8 of Clubs: Work or business problems that may have to do with jealousy.

7 of Clubs: Business success, although there may be problems with the opposite sex; a change in business that may have been expected or earned, such as a promotion.

6 of Clubs: Financial aid or success.

5 of Clubs: New friendships or alliances are made.

4 of Clubs: Beware of dishonesty or deceit; avoid blind acceptance of others at this time.

3 of Clubs: Love and happiness; successful marriage; a favorable long-term proposition; a second chance, often in an economic sense.

2 of Clubs: Obstacles to success; malicious gossip.

Ace of Spades: Misfortune; sometimes associated with a difficult ending.

King of Spades: Dark-haired man; or a man with air predominating in his chart; an ambitious, perhaps self-serving, man.

Queen of Spades: Widowed or divorced woman; a woman with air predominating in her chart.

Jack of Spades: A youth who is demanding or jealous.

10 of Spades: Worry; bad news.

9 of Spades: Misfortune; a personal low.

8 of Spades: Temptation; danger; upsets.

7 of Spades: Advice that is best not taken; loss; there is some obstacle to success, and this indicates that obstacles may be coming from within you.

6 of Spades: Small changes and improvements.

5 of Spades: Opposition and obstacles that are temporary; a blessing in disguise; sometimes indicates a negative or depressed person.

4 of Spades: Small worries; problems; financial difficulties, personal lows.

3 of Spades: Breaks or conflict in relationships.

2 of Spades: Deceit; may also warn against possible infidelity or separation.

Ace of Diamonds: Change; a message, often about money, and usually good news.

King of Diamonds: Fair-haired or graying man; a man with earth predominating in his chart; a man of authority, status, or influence.

Queen of Diamonds: Fair-haired woman; a woman with earth predominating in her chart; a gossip.

Jack of Diamonds: A youth, possibly in uniform; a jealous person who may be unreliable; a person who brings news, generally negative, but relatively minor.

10 of Diamonds: A change in financial status, often for the better.

9 of Diamonds: A new business deal; travel; restlessness; a change of residence.

8 of Diamonds: New job; change in job situation; the young or the old may find love on a trip.

7 of Diamonds: An argument concerning finances or employment, generally expected to be resolved happily.

6 of Diamonds: Relationship problems; arguments; separation.

5 of Diamonds: Happiness and success; a change for the better; a birth, or good news for a child; a good time to start new projects.

4 of Diamonds: Financial upswing; an older person may give good advice.

3 of Diamonds: A legal letter; be tactful with others in order to avoid disputes.

2 of Diamonds: A business partnership; a change in relationship; gossip.... The Element Encyclopedia

Tarot Cards

If a specific tarot card appears in your dream the following abbreviated list of the classic meanings of each card might help with your interpretation:

The Major Arcana

0- The Fool

A jester figure representing impulse, birth and youth, sometimes shown beginning a journey and accompanied by a dog.

If this card appears in your dreams, it stands for a new start and infinite possibilities. When it appears, you might be about to make a move, not just to a new home, but to a new job or way of thinking. There is more than just change, renewal and a brand new beginning in the Fool; there’s also movement, and a fresh, exciting new time. But the card carries a little bark of warning as well. Stop daydreaming and fantasizing and watch your step, lest you fall and end up looking the fool.

1- The Magician

Sometimes shown as a juggler or illusionist at a fair, sometimes playing with the symbols of the four suits, representing consciousness, a sense of self-control and dexterity. In dreams, this card might be telling you that you will have a vision, an idea or a magical mental image of whatever it is you most want, whether it is the solution to a problem, a successful career or a fulfilling love life.

2- High Priestess

Shown as a female religious leader, representing women’s liberation, wisdom, independence and psychic development. The High Priestess is the card of knowledge, instinct and the supernatural. She offers secret knowledge, like the moon on a dark night, so that you can find your path in life. She sits between the pillars of dark and light, consciousness and unconsciousness, waxing and waning. All secret knowledge is hers.

3- Empress

Shown as a queen on a throne or as the mother goddess, she represents illumination, intelligence, understanding, maternity and creativity. The Empress is a creator, be it the creation of life, of romance, of art or business. This card tells you that if you want your new romance, career, business or creation to grow into all it can be, you have to pay attention to it, baby it and be willing to let it take those first steps when it is ready. Most of all, like any pregnant mother or good gardener, you have to be patient. All things need time to gestate and sprout.

4- Emperor

Sometimes shown as a king on a throne holding a sphere and scepter, he represents sight, vision, realization, power and strength. In the best of circumstances, he signifies the leader that everyone wants to follow because he rules with intelligence and enthusiasm. But sometimes that throne can also be a trap, a responsibility that has the Emperor feeling restless, bored and discontent.

5- Hierophant or Pope

A religious leader, sometimes shown as the Pope seated on a throne, he represents the link between God and man, and symbolizes spiritual discovery, the father, transcendence, and the teacher. The Hierophant’s only problem is that he can be stubborn. At his best, he is wise and soothing, offering much-needed advice; at his worst, he is an unbending traditionalist.

6- Lovers

Shown as two people surrounded by cupids, flowerbeds, they represent struggle, beauty, sovereignty and, union. Above all, this card is a symbol of choice. Love is a force that makes you choose and decide for reasons you often can’t understand; it makes you surrender control to a higher power. When this card appears in a dream, you are being told to trust your instincts, to choose this career, challenge, person or thing to which or whom you are so strongly drawn, no matter how scary, how difficult, irrational or troublesome.

7- Chariot

Sometimes shown as warriors parading triumphant in chariot or an icon of a hero being paraded around, it represents victory, the domination of humankind over nature, power, war and self-control.

If this card appears in your dream, it suggests that control is required over opposing emotions, wants, needs, people or circumstances; it is urging you to bring them together and give them a single direction, your direction. The card can indicate new motivation or inspiration that gets a stagnant situation moving again.

8- Strength or Lust

Represents love as a source of strength, endurance, will to survive, strong desires and perseverance. In dreams, this card suggests that you can control not only the situation, but also yourself. It is a card about anger and impulse management, about creative answers, leadership and maintaining your integrity. It can also stand for a steadfast friend.

9- Hermit

Often shown as a hermit holding an hourglass, the hermit represents withdrawal, solitude, abandonment of convention via inner conviction and a preoccupation with details,. This is not a time for socializing; the card indicates, instead, a desire for peace and solitude. Nor is it a time for action, discussion or decisions; it is a time to think, organize, ruminate and take stock. There may be feelings of frustration and discontent during this time of withdrawal. But such times lead to enlightenment, illumination and clarity.

10- Wheel of Fortune

Represents karma, reincarnation, the consequences of chance happenings, cycles, optimism and generosity. This card can mean movement, change and evolution, but its primary meaning is that such changes will seem to come out of the blue as a stroke of good, unexpected fortune.

11- Justice

Often shown as ‘lady justice’ (blindfolded with scale), representing decision, equilibrium. Justice is about cold, objective balance through reason or natural force. This is the card that tells a person they can’t keep smoking and drinking without consequences to their health. It is the card that advises cutting out waste and insists that you make adjustments, do whatever is necessary to bring things back into balance, physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually.

12- Hanged Man

Represents sacrifice, violence, transition. Sometimes you need to sacrifice cherished positions, opening yourself to other truths and other perspectives in order to find solutions. One thing is certain; whether the insight is great or small, spiritual or mundane, once you have been the Hanged Man in your dreams, you never see things in quite the same way again.

13- Death

Often shown as a skeleton or the Grim Reaper, this card represents stagnation and routine, but also fresh starts, a clean slate, liberation and renewal. This is a time of change, a time for something to end, but also a time for something new to begin. You may feel sad, empty or low, but that will help you rise again, like a phoenix from the ashes. Death is not the end. It is only the precursor to resurrection.

14- Temperance

This card represents enthusiasm, moderation, truthfulness, the mixing of opposite ingredients in proper proportion, and working together. Temperance may, at first glance, be a warning to ‘temper’ or modify your behavior, to cut your wine with water. But it may also be a reminder that seemingly irreconcilable opposites may not be irreconcilable at all.

15- The Devil

Perhaps the most misunderstood of all the major Arcana, the Devil is not really ‘Satan’ at all, but Pan, the half-goat nature god, or Dionysus, the god of wine and licentiousness. This card represents superficiality, confusion, ignorance, apathy, limitations, frustrations and sexual problems. These are gods of pleasure and abandonment, of wild behavior and unbridled desires. This card is about ambition, but is also synonymous with temptation and addiction. On the flip side, however, the card can be a warning to someone who is too restrained, someone who never allows themselves to get passionate, messy or wild- or even ambitious.

16- The Tower

Representing spiritual awakening, destiny, often shown as a ‘house of god’ or a ruins, the Tower is a card about war. This war is between the tangled structures of lies and the lightning flash of truth.

If this card appears in your dreams, you can expect to be shaken up or to be blinded by a shocking revelation. It sometimes takes such a shock to make you see a truth that you refuse to confront, or to challenge and destroy beliefs that are well constructed and deeply defended. What is most important to remember is that the tearing down of this structure, however painful, makes room for something new to be built.

17- The Star

Often shown as a woman kneeling on a sea shore, this card suggests clarity of vision and spiritual insight, and represents meditation, inspiration, hope, immortality. Most importantly, it suggests that unexpected help will be coming, but that help is only the first step. The star only reveals the future. It is up to you to find your way to that future.

18- The Moon

A card that is connected with sleep, and so both with dreams and with nightmares, the Moon represents illusion, self-deception, confusion and the growth of intuition. It is a scary card in that it warns that there might be hidden enemies, tricks and falsehoods. It should also be remembered that this is a card of great creativity, of powerful magic, primal feelings and intuition.

If this image appears in your dreams, you may be going through a time of emotional and mental trial. This time however, can also result in great creativity, psychic powers, visions and insight. You can and should trust your intuition.

19- The Sun

Just as the moon symbolized inspiration from the unconscious or from dreams, this card symbolizes discoveries made fully conscious whilst wide awake, and represents enlightenment, clarity, understanding, comprehension, wisdom, happiness and splendor. It is a card of intellect, clarity of mind, and feelings of youthful energy, as well as symbolizing science and math, beautifully constructed music and carefully reasoned philosophy.

20- Judgment

Often showing angels blowing trumpets, this card represents awakening to something new and rebirth. There are wounds from the past that may not have healed and Judgment advises you to finally face these, recognize that the past is past, and put them to rest, absolutely and irrevocably. This is also a card of healing, quite literally from an accident or illness, as well as a card signaling great transformation, renewal and change.

21- The World or Universe

Simply put, this card tells you that a successful conclusion to a long-term project is in sight, and that it will be accompanied by well-earned praise, celebration and success. It represents completion, reward, perfection, a unity of positive and negative, and, on a more mundane level, the World card indicates travel. These are not short business trips, but long, fantastic trips. This is a wonderful card of wholeness, perfection, satisfaction and happiness.... The Element Encyclopedia

The Persona

In your dreams are you wearing a disguise or mask? Are you a regal persona or did you become a superhero? Are you using cosmetics or wearing a wig? Are you worried about your appearance in some way? Are you naked? Are your clothes torn and ragged? If so, this kind of dream concerns your persona or personas, as we all have more than one.

The persona represents your public image, the part of yourself that is presented externally by what you say, wear and look like. The word is obviously related to the words ‘person’ and ‘personality’, and comes from the Latin word for mask. So the persona is the mask you put on before you show yourself to the outside world.

Your persona’s wardrobe of masks comprises the various faces you use to present yourself to different audiences in waking life—for example, your family, friends, colleagues and strangers. We wear these masks to help us relate better to different groups of people, but these masks are not the real you. Depending on the context of your dream and how you felt, your unconscious may be warning you that one of your personas is in conflict with your true self, or that you need to adopt a different persona to achieve your goals.

The persona is rarely personified in a dream. It is usually a dream theme, rather than a dream figure: for example, the persona can be said to be present in a dream in which your clothes are stained, or you are naked or inappropriately dressed. At its best, the persona is just the ‘good impression’ you wish to present as you fill the roles society requires of you. But, of course, it can also be the ‘false impression’ you use to manipulate people’s opinions and behaviors.

And, at its worst, it can be mistaken, even by yourself, for your own true nature; sometimes we believe we really are what we pretend to be!... The Element Encyclopedia

Washing The Dead

(Undertaker) If one sees a deceased person washing himself before burial in a dream, it means relief for one’s dependents and increase of their wealth after him. Washing a deceased person in a dream means that someone will repent at the hand of the undertaker.

If a deceased person asks someone to wash his clothing in a dream, it means that he needs someone to pray for him, or to intercede on his behalf before his Lord, or pay charity for the benefit of his soul, or to satisfy his debts, or to fulfill his will, or to seek justice for his death. Ifone does wash the garment ofthe deceased person in the dream, it means the redemption of that person. Washing a deceased person with boiling water in a dream means that the latter is suffering in hell-fire.

Wedding

To attend a wedding in your dream, you will speedily find that there is approaching you an occasion which will cause you bitterness and delayed success.

For a young woman to dream that her wedding is a secret is decidedly unfavorable to character. It imports her probable downfall.

If she contracts a worldly, or approved marriage, signifies she will rise in the estimation of those about her, and anticipated promises and joys will not be withheld.

If she thinks in her dream that there are parental objections, she will find that her engagement will create dissatisfaction among her relatives.

For her to dream her lover weds another, foretells that she will be distressed with needless fears, as her lover will faithfully carry out his promises.

For a person to dream of being wedded, is a sad augury, as death will only be eluded by a miracle.

If the wedding is a gay one and there are no ashen, pale-faced or black-robed ministers enjoining solemn vows, the reverses may be expected.

For a young woman to dream that she sees some one at her wedding dressed in mourning, denotes she will only have unhappiness in her married life.

If at another’s wedding, she will be grieved over the unfavorable fortune of some relative or friend. She may experience displeasure or illness where she expected happiness and health.

The pleasure trips of others or her own, after this dream, may be greatly disturbed by unpleasant intrusions or surprises. See Marriage and Bride. ... Ten Thousand Dream Interpretation

Wedding

Dreaming about getting married or being in a wedding is relatively common.

If your biological time clock is ticking away and you are anxious to get married, this dream may be a form of wish-fulfillment. However, a wedding or a marriage in a dream is a profound and very personal symbol. It usually represents the harmonious integration of the dreamer’s personality or psyche (i.e. the coming together of masculine, feminine, shadow, anima, physical, spiritual, unconscious, or/and conscious components).

The marriage in your dream may represent the union of the different sides of your own character. This is a positive dream symbol because it suggests a degree of self-awareness and integration. Many people dream about weddings during times of stress and difficulty. Based on superstition some cultures believe that dreaming of a wedding is a negative omen that generally represents a period of grief and possibly death. ... The Bedside Dream Dictionary

Wedding

To dream of a wedding indicates your life is about to change.

An aspect of your waking life is ending, but another is about to begin. In many cases, you may feel negatively about the wedding you see in your dreams. This is typically meant to bring to mind a fear or anxiety from your waking life. You may have some feelings of sorrow, or a loved one may soon pass. Conversely, it may indicate a fear of commitment. Consider your relationships; are you getting ready to take one to the ‘next level?’ Are you scared to do so? If you dream of remarrying your husband or wife symbolizes your strong love and faith to each other. Marriage has suited you well. Your marriage may be about to change as well. Are you considering starting a family? If you are dreaming of planning your wedding, but have never met your future spouse, it is an indication that you have found harmony and balance between your feminine and masculine sides. Conversely, you may be struggling from a lack of balance between your more instinctive side and your softer emotional nature..... Dream Symbols and Analysis

Wedding

General Meaning: A covenant ritual whereby two become one.

Positive: The best illustration we have of this is the wedding of Christ to His bride.

The wedding ceremony is in fact a covenant ritual act.

• In the Old Testament when two people entered into a blood covenant, they would do various acts.

• Firstly they would cut their hands and join blood. Then they would rub ash into the wound so that it would leave a scar. They would also exchange their belts, representing their strengths.

• The scar was a public sign of their covenant, much like the wedding ring is.

The mixing of blood is symbolic of the sexual act of marriage.

• The exchange of belts in marriage is the joining of two lives. Where your strengths become one.

• When the blood covenant was over, the two of them had all things in common. Neither considered what they had as their own.

• When you realize that this is also a picture of our relationship with Jesus it brings you to a new realization of who you are in Christ.

• If you dream of being married, the Lord is reminding you that you are in blood covenant with Him! • All He has is yours and all you have is also His. He is asking you to give your life to Him completely and to also take hold of His completely.

• Every physical, psychological and spiritual blessing that Jesus has, is available to you through this covenant.

• For more on blood covenant, look at the love of David and Jonathan in 1 Sam 18:3 • Divorce • When you came to the Lord, you divorced your old life and married into His.

If you dream that you are divorcing someone that represents the flesh in your life, this means that you are finally letting go of your old life to be joined to Christ.

Negative: To dream that you are getting divorced from someone that represents the Lord in your dreams means that you have separated yourself from the blessing of God.

• Israel lost this blessing because they turned their backs on the Lord and followed idols.

Wedding

Dreaming of your own wedding signifies the desire to unify criteria, obtain concessions or professional alliances, and find allies to support projects. It also indicates the search for inner harmony, communication with the inner self, and the union of two formerly conflicting aspects of your personality. Wedding dreams are recurring for couples who are about to get married. In fact, some studies indicate that forty percent of all oneiric activity during the prenuptial period contains references—either direct or indirect—to the marriage ceremony, to the future spouse, and to marriage in general.

It is often common to dream of disasters occurring in the ceremonies, scenes of sexual rejection, images of infidelity, etc. But these prenuptial dreams should not be cause of alarm because, for example, dreaming of a sexual adventure can reveal fear of abandonment; and being naked at the wedding, fear of performing badly.

Not all old dream books agree on the interpretation of this symbol. Usually, it is seen as a good omen and as a premonition of a future marriage. However, to attend someone else’s wedding is a prediction of damage, loss, and infidelity.... The Big Dictionary of Dreams

Psychological / emotional perspective: To dream of a wedding can give some indication of the type of person we are looking for as a partner. We may, for instance, dream that we are marrying a childhood friend – in which case we are looking for somebody who has the same qualities as that person. We may dream we are marrying a famous figure and again the qualities of that particular person will be important.

The wedding ring, worn on the finger that represents the heart – that is, the fourth finger of the left hand – suggests that we have made a commitment or promise.

Material aspects: A marriage or a wedding in a dream often indicates the uniting of two particular parts of us which need to come together in order to create a better whole.

For instance, the intellect and feelings – or perhaps the practical and intuitive sides – may need to be united.

To be dreaming of wearing a wedding dress is to be trying to sort out our feelings and hopes about relationships and weddings.

To be dressing someone else in a wedding dress can indicate one’s feelings of inferiority – ‘always the bridesmaid, never the bride’.

To dream of losing our wedding ring would very often symbolize a problem within a marriage, or perhaps highlight a problem in our commitment.

To dream of finding a wedding ring might well indicate that a relationship is being formed that could result in marriage.

To be attending a wedding in dreams when we are not expecting to attend one in waking life suggests that we are aware of a relationship between two people, but it has not yet registered on the conscious level.... Dream Meanings of Versatile

Withered Or Dead Flowers

To see withered or dead flowers in your dream denotes disappointments and gloomy situations. You may not be utilizing your full potential and talents.

If you receive wilted blooms in dreamland as a gift from someone you know, think about the nature of your relationship with that person; your unconscious might have detected that the relationship is weakening. Similarly, if you are pricked by a hidden thorn in a bunch of roses given by colleague who was congratulating you in a dream scenario, is it possible that they are concealing real feelings of resentment towards you in waking life? If you gave a bunch of dead flowers to a difficult or strict former schoolteacher, could this highlight your extreme dislike of that person? Young Person / Youth

(1) A much younger person than yourself, but of die same sex, may represent your original and innocent self, uncontaminated with artificial and misleading aims and ambitions.

If so, you should feel love towards this figure: resolve to honour, protect and serve this pure essence of yourself

(2) A young person in a dream may offer you rejuvenation (whether you are middle aged or just depressed) or a creative transformation or re-orientation of your personality and / or your life.

If the person is of the same sex as you, he or she may symbolize your self - that is, your true self, the centre of your psyche.

If of the opposite sex, he or she may represent your anima / animus. (For anima / animus, see Brother / Sister, sections (4)-(6); for self) See also Child.... A Dictionary of Dream Symbols

Your Personal

An alphabetically arranged address book lends itself well to keeping track of the most important symbols in your dreams. First, make a note of the personal meaning and then the general meaning of each symbol. Choose those images that you consider most important, especially the symbols that continually recur.

For each symbol, make note of the title and the date of the dream in which it appeared.

A general interpretation of a symbol listed in this handbook should only be noted if it expands or changes your understanding of your personal dream symbols.... Little Giant Encyclopedia
