Drowning / Crawling / Falling

Drowning in deep water suggests floundering in the depths of the unconscious. As with dreams of pursuit or being chased, this dream alerts you to areas of your unconscious that are creating conflict and need to be examined with care.

Falling and jumping in an attempt to escape from hostile pursuers in a dream is a desperate escape mechanism and suggests that you might have more success if you turn at the last minute to face your enemies, having found the strength to confront them. Dreams in which you are trying to run from something or someone but find you cannot—perhaps because your feet are weighed down or stuck in the mud—can be interpreted in much the same way.

Crawling through a narrow space, tunnel or small enclosure, or trying to squeeze through a tiny corridor or hall points to your creative energies struggling to find expression; these are, however, also common-place dreams expressing anxiety about a challenging and imminent event such as a review at work, an examination or even the birth of a new baby. Being chased, not knowing who or what is out there in the darkness, or vainly trying to push through the crowds in a busy bar, street or department store also suggest that certain repressed aspects of your personality, or unexamined aspects of the self, demand to be dealt with. To be trapped in a dream signifies that you feel you are trapped by outside circumstances. To be aware of trapping something or someone is to try to hold onto them, and if you trap a butterfly or animal, you are trying to capture your inner self. Feeling trapped in dreams also suggests an inability to break free from old patterns of thought and behavior without outside help. See also NEGATIVE EMOTIONS.... The Element Encyclopedia

Falling

Beating self up.Repatterning is needed. This is a common dream which usually represents underlying fears and feelings of inadequacy and helplessness. Interpret your dream by considering your primary fears, current difficulties, and situations in your life that seem to be on a downward spiral, especially those situations that seem outside of your control (financial, romantic,etc.). Some people believe that if you keep falling in your dream and don’t wake up that you will die at the point of impact. This is absolutely not true. In a falling dream you wake up out of fear and not because of danger of dying. Superstition based dream interpretations say that if you fall a long distance in your dream and get hurt, be prepared for really hard times ahead; but if you fall and are not injured your upsets will be minor and temporary.... Falling

Some dream researchers suggest falling is one of the main themes in dreams. In the sample used for this book, the words fall, falls, fell, falling occur 72 times in 1,000 dreams.

The words find, finds, finding, found occur 297 times. And the words connected with looking and seeing occur 1,077 times.

During our development or growth we ‘fall’ from our mother’s womb when ripe; being dropped by a parent must be our earliest sense of insecurity; we fall many times as we learn to stand and walk; as we explore our boundaries in running, climbing, jumping and riding, falling is a big danger, at times it could mean death. Out of this we create the ways falling is used in dreams.

Example: ‘I am sitting in a high window box facing outwards, with my son and a friend of his on my left. I feel very scared of falling and ask my son and his friend to climb back into the building. I feel too scared to move until they shift’ (Trevor N). At the time of the dream Trevor was working, for the first time in his life, as a full-time freelance journalist. His wife was out of work and his frequency of sales low enough to cause them to be running out of money.

The building behind him in the dream felt like a place he had worked nine to five —security. Falling was failure, getting in debt, dropping into the feelings of self doubt and being incapable.

In general, then, falling represents loss of confidence; threat to usual sources of security such as relationship, source of money, social image, beliefs; tension. Sometimes it is loss of social grace; losing face, moral failure—falling into temptation; coming down to earth from a too lofty attitude, sexual surrender.

Example: ‘I was on a road which led up to the hospital I was put in at three. I felt a sense of an awful past as I looked at the road. Then I was standing on the edge of a precipice or cliff. My wife was about four yards away near the road. I stepped in an area of soft earth. It gave beneath my weight and I sank up to my waist. I realised the cliff edge was unstable and the whole area would fall. I was sinking and shouting to my wife to help me. She was gaily walking about and made light of my call for help. I cried out again. Still she ignored me. I shouted again for her help. She took no notice and I sank deeper, the ground gave way and I fell to my death’ (Barry 1). Through being put in a hospital at three without his mother, Barry had a deep seated fear that any woman he loved could desen him. His fall is the loss of any sense of bonding between him and his wife out of this fear. His death is the dying of his feeling of love and relationship, and the pain it causes. Understanding these fears, Barry was able to leave them behind in later dreams and in life.

By learning to meet our insecurities (perhaps by using the last question in dream processing) we can dare more in life. This is in essence the same as meeting the fear of falling off our bike as we learn to ride.

If we never master the fear we cannot ride. Therefore some dreams take falling into realms beyond fear.

The following examples illustrate this.

Example: ‘Near where I stood in the school gymnasium was a diving board, about 20 ft off the ground. Girls were learning to dive off the board and land flat on their back on the floor.

If they landed flat they didn’t hurt themselves—like falling backwards standing up’ (Barry I).

The school is where we learn. Once we learn to fall ‘flat on our back’, i.e. fail, without being devastated or ‘hurt’ by it, we can be more creative. Going fast to an edge and falling: could mean overwork and danger of breakdown of health.

Example: ‘As I prayed I realised I could fly. I lifted off the ground about 3 feet and found I could completely relax while going higher or falling back down. So it was like free fall. I went into a wonderful surrendered relaxation. My whole body sagging, floating in space. It was a very deep meditative experience (Sarah D). Sarah has found an attitude which enables her to soar/dare or fall/fail without being so afraid of being hurt or dying emotionally. This gives a form of freedom many people never experience. This does not arise from denying or suppressing fears.

Seeing things fall: sense of danger or change in regard to what is represented. Person falling: wish to be rid of them, or anxiety in regard to what they represent; end of a relationship. Child, son falling: see baby; son and daughter under family. House falling down, personal stress; illness; personal change and growth due to letting old habits and attitudes crumble. Example: ‘I was standing outside my mother’s house to the right.

The ground in front had fallen away.

The house was about to cave in. I felt no fear or horror. Instead I was thinking about new beginnings and the possibility of a new house’ (Helen B). Helen is here becoming more independent and leaving behind attitudes and dependency. See house; abyss; chasm. See also flying. ... A Guide to Dreams and Sleep Experiences

Falling

A warning not to be such a realist. It might be better to just let go, as in Abyss, Cliff, Shot, Parachute, Flying, and be more open to something new. Also fear of being destroyed, as in Descent. Points to loss due to miscalculation on the part of the dreamer (see the myth of Daedalus and Icarus) or is a sign of unjustified euphoria and arrogance. This symbol often appears in dreams during times when a person has difficulty achieving orgasm and during acute midlife crisis.

Doubt and insecurity. You need to let go, as in Brook, Leaf, and Parachute. Dreams of falling often appear if you are in the process of transition to a new stage in life. Particularly when you are trying out something new, you will first, just as in the dream, fall flat on your face.

A falling dream happens again and again if you are fighting against your own limitations.

It is very helpful to change falling dreams into flying dreams.

Falling

Symbol: A bad fall into an abyss often brings an undcfinable feeling of relief.

Vision: For a woman, dreaming about falling is a metaphor for letting herself go. Falling means that you’re stumbling into an unpleasant situation. Feeling the act of falling, physically, is not a cause for alarm.

It is simply a case of “getting back into your body”—waking up too quickly It might also be a sign of low blood pressure. Falling into a ditch: your reputation will suffer. Falling over something: a certain matter is made clear to you. Stumbling without falling: things could have been a lot worse. Watching others falling: you’re going to unmask your enemies just in time. See Abyss, Fall.

Depth Psychology: Dreams about falling are a sign of the fear you have of people taking the “reins out of your hand,” of losing control. Have you lost faith in yourself, lost your sense of self-worth? .Are you afraid that others—for whatever reason—are going to “drop” you? Are you losing your good reputation? Falling

Falling is a very common dream metaphor and it reflects in our general language. We fall in and out of love, we fall in and out with people, and we fall over ourselves and others. We fall on hard times, we fall from grace and we fall asleep! • Falling captures a primal human emotion. Falling dreams recapture that feeling of being vulnerable and out of control.

• They occur when we feel the ground beneath us has given way, or when we’re feeling particularly vulnerable or insecure as happens when we fall in love or fall out with someone.

• When this dream occurs reflect on what you feel has “fallen apart” in your life or where you feel unsupported or lacking in confidence.... The Premier in Dream Dictionary

Falling

(1) If the falling is a result of climbing or flying, the symbolism is probably straightforward: having ‘got above yourself, you are now paying the price; or the dream may be warning you of possible future disastrous consequences of present behaviour or ambitions - as in the proverbial ‘Pride before a fall’ - in which case your present ambitions are out of tune with your real self, your real capacities.

It is not necessarily a case of conscious self-aggrandizement; indeed, usually one is not conscious of it at all. Hence the need for the dream! Self-inflation may be of two kinds: where the ego is ‘possessed’ by some unconscious factor; or where the ego will not deign to pay attention to the unconscious; or both.

If you are prone to accidents, these may be symptomatic of an ego that is too much under the control of (unintegrated) unconscious forces.

(2) The fear of falling felt in a dream may be symbolic of your real-life fear of letting go. Perhaps the dream is urging you to stop resisting an impulse from the unconscious.

The anxiety expressing itself in a dream of falling may best be dealt with by letting yourself go with the fall, with a view to both finding out what it is that you are frightened of and finding a way of transforming the anxiety-response into a more positive and creative response. Strephon Kaplan-Williams recommends that you stay with the falling in the dream itself (having prepared yourself to do so beforehand), not wake up before the end of the dream. As a way of preparing yourself to do that, you might try writing out the dream again - or re-living it in imagination - only this time letting the fall complete itself. You may learn a lot from this. Falling

Normally, dreams in which you fall are the result of “falling while sleeping,” provoked by physiological causes. However, in symbolic terms they express a loss of emotional balance or self-control. Maybe you are afraid, in real life, of letting yourself get carried away. Anxiety is closely linked to this dream. It reflects insecurity, low self-confidence, fear of failure, or inability to take care of a situation. (See ABYSS)

Falling

This is a dream about the loss of control.

A fall is one of the most frequently occurring dream images, and all human beings have experienced this at one time or another.

A fall can be very frightening; however, the real danger is not the fall itself, but the sudden stop that is likely to follow. Therefore, the real source of the fear associated with this symbol is what may occur, and the anxiety about not being able to directly impact the outcome of a situation.

The deeper meaning of falling dreams is that the highest road to take in any difficult situation is to surrender yourself to the lack of control you are experiencing. In any situation where there is no control to be had, letting go is the only powerful choice to make. Most dreams of falling do not end in landing, further cementing the symbolic connection of this image with surrender. Where and how you land will be directly tied to the quality of your descent.

The more graceful the fall, the more likely you will benefit from where you wind up.

The context will offer you subtleties of meaning by examining the way you are falling in your dream. Falling backward indicates not being able to see the direction you are taking. Facing forward might enable you to see what you are facing, but your fall still indicates lack of control. Spiral twisting is an even stronger loss, as in spiraling out of control.

The amount of fear felt in the dream is the barometer of how much unconscious fear is being suppressed.

A fall that is easy and flows with a sense of surrender might be telling you that you are ready to let go of control in some situation. Falling in a dream could be compensating for some area in your life where you are reaching higher than is appropriate to your current circumstances or level of development.... Falling

Falling, and the accompanying sense of vertigo, is, along with flying, one of the most often reported dream topics. Falling dreams typically occur during the first stage of sleep. Dreams in this stage are often accompanied by muscle spasms of the arms, legs, and the whole body. Sometimes when we have these falling dreams, we feel our whole body jerk or twitch, which provokes us to awaken.

Typically, the act of falling in dreams suggests loss of control and anxiety in the sleeper’s waking life. The anxiety could be related to work, or it could be related to sexual inhibition or low self-esteem. Such may be the fear of the fall that you could awake with a jolt.

If this occurs, it is important to remember the circumstances of the fall in your dream, as this will help you understand its hidden message. According to Freudian theory, dreams of falling indicate that you are contemplating giving into a sexual urge or impulse. You may be lacking indiscretion. According to biblical interpretations, dreams about falling have a negative overtone and suggest that man is acting and walking according to his own way of thinking, and not that of the Lord.... Falling

Dreams of falling are extremely common. They may be prompted by your fear of heights in waking life.

If this isn’t the case, falling dreams may be your dreaming mind’s way of drawing your attention to feelings of frustration and loss of control. In which area of your life do you feel you are ‘falling down’, slipping or losing your place? Are you anxious about schoolwork, your love life, your career or your domestic life? Dreams of falling can be associated with feelings of loss of control or letting yourself down; sometimes the sensation is so terrifying that your conscious mind jerks you awake mid-flight. If, in your dream, you fall and were unharmed, this is a clear sign that your current situation is less uncertain than you think. Whatever the scenario in your dream, if falling is a part of it, your unconscious is urging you to identify the source of your feelings of uncertainty and try to find a solution even if that means accepting something less than you hoped for, or accepting your limitations. Falling / Drowning

There is an old wives’ tale that says if you dream you are falling and you hit the bottom, you will die. This is not true. Falling is one of the most common nightmares amongst people of all ages, and may be a reflection of feeling insecure, helpless or of having no support or solid grounding. Dreaming about drowning is less common and often occurs when you feel overwhelmed. Both scenarios involve life-or-death situations and can be traced back to prehistoric origins; dreams of falling reflect a time when our ancestors took risks when climbing trees. Falling dreams of modern life often take place from high buildings, elevators and rooftops. Likewise, dreams of drowning relate to our inborn need to breathe for survival. Fire

The element offire in a dream represents might. Fire in a dream also means love.

A product that is touched by fire in the process of its manufacturing or cooking in a dream means arguments and disputes. In a dream, fire also signifies glad tidings, a warning, war, chastisement, power, imprisonment, losses, sins, or blessings. Ifone sees a blazing fire with sparks shooting in every direction and burning in the forest and raging with tumultuous noise and uproar in a dream, it means insubordination, civic disorder or an adversity through which many people will die.

If one sees fire burning inside his own heart in a dream, it means love or depression caused by separation from one’s beloved. Seeing two burning bushes trying to consume one another in a dream represents two armies fighting one another.

If the two burning bushes remain intact and yield no loss in the dream, then they represent trials and adversities in the place where they are seen. Whichever of the two fires is closer to a water source in the dream means that such an army is more liable to a voluntary retreat or submission.

If the water flows and extinguishes that fire in the dream, it also means that the water will be debilitated and consequently consumed.

The more black smoke a fire produces in one’s dream, the greater is the danger and consequent sufferings.

If one kindles a fire in the night for people to see their way through in a dream, it means that he will acquire a knowledge and with it, he will help people through their life, admonish and guide them.

If one sees himself kindling a fire on the road during the daylight in a dream, it means that he will embark on the road of innovation and misleading others.

If one sees a fire during a daylight time in a dream, it means war and adversities.lfit is seen during the night hours, then it means peace and guidance.

If one sees himself worshiping the fire in a dream, it means that he loves wars, or follows Satanic allurements. Warming oneselfup from a nearby fire during a cold day in a dream means becoming rich. Fire

(1) Fire may symbolize libido, passion. Poking a fire may therefore mean arousing passion, and may be a symbol of the sexual act.

(2) It may symbolize a fever, and the dream may actually have been caused by a feverish bodily condition.

(3) If the fire is destroying or threatening to destroy a house, the house will almost certainly represent yourself (or, in the case of (2) above, your body). The dream will usually mean there is some (repressed) emotion that is liable to burst out destructively if it is not given your conscious attention. The same would apply if the fire was a conflagration - for example, a forest fire - threatening you.

(4) Fire - which can change liquids and even some minerals into air - may symbolize purification and transformation. (The Hindu custom of burning the dead is a symbolic purging.) If, therefore, what is being burned in the dream can be seen as a symbol of yourself, the message will be about getting rid of whatever has been blocking the way to a fiiller realization of your true self.

What we think we are is usually all those habitual responses that have been conditioned by past events and experiences. What we really are is eternal - that is, not conditioned by the past. So, to find our true self we have to ‘bum5 the past. Fire, like floods, is a fertilizer, making new things possible by destroying the old.

(5) In some contexts fire may be equivalent to light and may symbolize spirituality, truth, (self-)knowledge. (This is the opposite of hell-fire, which has been described as burning without giving any light. For the fires of purgatory see (4) above.)... A Dictionary of Dream Symbols

Fire

(in the sense of a house fire or forest fire)

To dream of a fire is evidence that your current situation is reaching a dangerous limit. The image of a house or forest burning indicates that you should destroy memories, prejudices, and all that is a hindrance to your progress and renewal.

If the flames threaten you, you will have to face a problem or project; but if they burn you, you are wasting or using your energy and effort in vain. To enter the flames without burning manifests resolve and the ability to overcome obstacles, such as a burning desire to reach a goal. (See FIRE)

FIRE - analysis of the dream

Laura dreamed: “I was on my bed surrounded by flames. The fire was all over my bedroom devastating everything, burning all of my belongings... but I was not able to move, I was paralyzed by fear. Suddenly, I noticed that the fire was not hurting me, the flames caressed my skin without burning me. That made me smile and I thought: ‘My skin is like an asbestos suit. I am fireproof.’ I left my bedroom by walking through the flames, whistling, convinced of being endowed with a magical power against fire.”

Dreaming of fire may indicate that your reserves of both energy and enthusiasm are in crisis. You might be facing a situation that puts you to the test in real life.

If the dream’s fire is well received, it is encouraging you to be more optimistic about your difficulties. When Laura had this dream she was going through a difficult domestic situation: her daughter had just been born, she had to take care of her mother who had a broken femur, and she was about to get seriously depressed. Fire was encouraging her to be more optimistic and energetic. The uncontrollable fire was telling Laura to act with precaution and a more relaxed attitude.

A dream in which you end up being safe and sound after an encounter with fire, like the phoenix, indicates growth in the face of difficulties. The unconscious was trying to calm Laura by reminding her of her courage and ability to overcome life’s setbacks. She managed to get her mother—who was in wheelchair—to help with the baby’s care. This new responsibility made Laura’s mother feel useful, despite her injury, forgetting her incipient depression.

Fire

Dreaming of fire indicates that your enthusiasm and energy reserves are in crisis. Maybe in real life you are facing a situation that puts you to the test; if the fire warms you and is well received, maybe it is encouraging you to be more optimistic about your problems. The presence of fire in dreams may well be an incentive to continue along the path taken.

If you are lighting a fire it may be an indication that you must begin a project. To move in flames without burning denotes strength and ability to overcome obstacles, a burning desire to reach the goal. Finally, if you dream that a forest or a house burns down your situation is reaching a dangerous limit. (See FIREPLACE, BURNS, RED, and BLOWING) Jung said that fire represents the process of psychological change. Alchemists used fire to transform the simple metal into gold, so it is a symbol of inner transformation. This element can purge corruption from the past, provide light, and reveal spiritual truth.

It is the eternal flame in the temple of the soul.

In dreams, fire reflects your feelings of love and hate, the forces of creation and destruction. Thus, a small well lit fire indicates desire for a lasting love or friendship. In addition, it predicts success, health, and happiness. A fire that produces too much smoke, however, announces betrayals and conflicts.

If the flames are threatening you, it represents fear of facing a problem or project; if it swelters you are wasting or misusing your energy and efforts.... The Big Dictionary of Dreams

Fire

Things are changing in a dramatic way.

The combustion of fire destroys everything in its path. However, remember that fire reduces what it burns to carbon, the building block of all life. So while the destruction of fire is absolute, like all change, it is making way for something else to be created.

A small fire or spark may indicate that winds of change are approaching, whereas something raging out of control could be pointing to change and transformation that feels overwhelming and scary. Consider what is burning in the dream, and that will shed light on what a dream that features fire is reflecting. What is burning is likely the most important focus of your investigation.

If it is something you are familiar with, it may indicate that a major transformation is occurring in your life in the arena represented by that thing.

A house on fire connects to a transformation in your personal identity.

A building that is more public relates more to your social identity. An object that you possess could be explored and the meaning you associate with it combined with the idea of radical change in that area.

A fire in nature might point to a loss of resources, nurturing, or creativity.

If someone dies in a fire, that person’s character aspect will inform you of what part of yourself is being sacrificed in order for a new sense of self to emerge.

The size of the fire and your emotional response to it will illuminate issues of overwhelm and loss of control.

A large fire that is out of control could indicate broad-based changes that may be resulting in the total dissolution of the old landscape of your life.

A contained fire could indicate that the change may be manageable and possibly even intentional.

A campfire in the outdoors could represent your ability to create powerful change out of limited resources.

A fireplace or wood-burning stove relates to harnessing change for your benefit or pleasure. While fire is dangerous and violent, it has the power to purify and create the possibility of renewal and new growth. When it appears in a dream, be aware that great change is afoot and that the future is likely to bring new life and new possibility.

Fire

The elements often have important roles in disaster dreams. In a dream, fire can be a purifying influence, it can relate to anger, or it might be suggestive of destruction. It may also relate to the fact that you are being consumed by a passion in waking life. In any event, its appearance in your dream may suggest that something in your life (most likely related to work or home) is in the midst of considerable change. Such a dream may be a warning—especially if you are trying unsuccessfully to smother the flames. The dream would be reassuring if a house or room was catching fire and you could control the flames, for here is a symbol of controlled passion. The dream is reassuring you that you are, or can be, in control of your life.

Disaster dreams in which you see people engulfed in a burning building should make you consider both your reaction and your personal connection with the disaster—if any.

If you are merely a spectator in the dream, too scared to move or offer your help, you should ask yourself whether you are equally fearful of life, or whether you are less forceful than you need to be.

If any of your friends, colleagues or family members are trapped in the building and you know you should help them, your dream may be telling you to take a more active part in their lives.

If you dreamed that you were in the burning building or that the building was falling down around you, consider whether your life is also collapsing around you. To dream of being burned alive may express your fears of a new relationship or phase of life. Finally if you are fire-fighting in your dream, this is a positive sign as it shows you are putting up a fight in real life.... The Element Encyclopedia

Fireplace

All symbols that relate to fire are about change and transformation.

A fireplace is a humanmade construction designed to take the amazing power offered by a fire and contain it in such a way to provide any number of services. Fire represents change and transformation on an enormous scale.

However, when it is enclosed in a safe and durable structure, that force of change becomes both highly effective and focusable.

The usable power of fire lies in a very small window of the continuum on which it exists. Too little and it does little more than look pretty. Just a little too much and the danger is life- threatening and enormously destructive.

A fireplace is the organizing principle around which great power can be harnessed to accomplish a very specific goal.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

Seeing timber in one’s house also means profits, fulfilling needs, inheritance or endowments. Ifthe timber needs cutting in the dream, it means earnings that involve great efforts, or earnings that bring about evil.

Firework / Explosion / Inferno

If you watched a fantastic firework display in your dream, are you feeling particularly good about yourself right now? Has there been a personal triumph? Or should you interpret the dream sexually, as fireworks are symbols of sexual climax in the movies. On the other hand, fireworks may denote explosions of furious rage and any dream explosion may reflect pent-up fury or frustration that is building up in waking life. Is there something in waking life that is making you tense and angry? Dreams in which you watch helplessly as a raging inferno destroys your home may be warnings from your unconscious to fit a smoke alarm in your home or office, but they may also have highlighted your current overheated emotional stage. It is important to ask yourself who or what is provoking your rage and whether the full force of your anger is about to be unleashed in waking life. And what would the results of the explosion be— devastation that all you have worked for has gone up in smoke, or liberation that you have burned your bridges and can arise energized from the ashes?

To dream of a fireman represents selfcontrol and your ability to deal with your energies, burning desires or emotional emergencies in the waking world. To dream that you caused a fire may be a warning from your unconscious that you are playing with fire and may be in danger of getting your fingers burned if you go ahead with a certain project or get involved with a certain person.

If you find yourself on fire, your passions may be consuming you and you may feel hopeless and trapped in waking life. If, however, you managed to put a fire out, this shows that you are asserting control over the fire raging within you.

If someone else started a fire, your unconscious may have been telling you to watch that person carefully in waking life or to carry out some simple safety checks.... The Element Encyclopedia

Gas Chamber

An instrument of institutionalized murder, the gas chamber has both of these elements as part of its symbolic makeup.

The murder portion suggests a need or desire to change some element of our consciousness, so much so as to need a death to represent the level of change that is being considered.

The institutional nature of the gas chamber suggests that the impetus for this level of sacrifice or change may have more to do with what is good for the community than something personal. There may be some intense expression of guilt associated with this image showing up in a dream.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

Hell·fire

Entering hell-fire in a dream means committing major sins such as murder or adultery.

If one comes out of it unharmed in the dream, then it represents worldly adversities.

If one sees the fire of hell coming near him in a dream, it means difficulties, debts, losses, fines and adversities from which one will not be able to escape.

If one sees himself entering hell-fire and holding his sword unsheathed in a dream, it means that he speaks evil of others and commits abominable actions against his own soul.

The same interpretation applies if one enters it smiling in his dream. Finding oneselfprisoner in hell not knowing when was he incarcerated in the dream means constraint, poverty, deprivation, failure to pray, fast or to remember his Lord. Walking across burning coal in a dream means exceeding one’s bound regarding people’s rights. Eating food from hell means becoming a tyrant and a blood thirsty person. Ifone sees himself inside hell-fire, where his eyes turn dark-blue and his face charcoal black in the dream, it means that he befriends God’s enemy and consents to their deception and chicanery. Consequently, he will surely be humiliated and despised by people, and in the hereafter, he will suffer the consequences of his sins. Seeing hell in a dream means that one should avoid incurring the wrath of a ruler. Entering hell in a dream also means notoriety, or becoming known as an evil person. It also means heedlessness and pursuing one’s indulgence in abominable actions. Whatever knowledge such a person acquires will bear evil consequences. Hell in a dream also represents loss of one’s prestige, status and it means poverty after wealth, despair after comfort, unlawful earnings, insolence, and ifit leads to an illness, it willend in a shockingdeath as a punishment.

If it leads to employment, it will be ajob serving a tyrant.lfit leads to acquiring knowledge, it means inventing vain religious practices.

If it leads to bearing a son, he will be the child of adultery. In general hell in a dream means excessive sexual desires, a slaughter house, a public bath, an oven, inventing a new religion, innovation, absence oftruth, indulgence in what is forbidden, stinginess, denying the Day of Judgment, a blazing fire for the devils, joining with a group of evildoers in committing atrocities, denying the sovereignty of God Almighty and ascribing human characteristics to Him. Seeing Malik, the guardian angel of hell-fire in a dream means receiving guidance after heedlessness.

If one sees Malik coming toward him in the dream, it means his salvation and the restoration of his faith. However, if one sees Malik turning his back to him or going away from him in the dream, it means that he will commit an act that will deliver him to the blazing fire of hell.

The angels in charge of punishing the sinners in hell in a dream represent the authority, soldiers, or tax collectors.

If one enters hell-fire then comes out of it in his dream, it means that, God willing, his life will culminate in paradise. Ifhe sees his limbs reprimanding him in the dream, it means that one’s own body is telling him something, or admonishing and trying to awaken his conscious to the realities of the hereafter and the Day of Reckoninh.

Lighting A Fire

If you dreamed of lighting a fire, what sort of fire was it and who else was there? Kindling a fire represents a summoning of energy, so the context of the fire in your dream should always be taken into consideration. Where are you focusing your energy? If the fire spreads out of control in your dream, this may indicate that your emotions are in danger of running out of control too.

If you succeed in controlling the blaze, this suggests you are in control of your waking life. Also pay attention to what was being burned in your dream and what the fire was feeding on, as the other symbols in the dream may help with your interpretation. For example, if you were burning your clothes, is it time to brighten up your image?

A fire burning in a domestic hearth is likely to point to your private life, whilst a bonfire or beacon has more public significance as a symbol of communication. Lighting a stove to cook a meal for family and friends suggests concern for your loved ones, and lighting a candle for a meal or curling up in front of a log cabin’s roaring fire may suggest sexual heat.... Orgasm

An orgasm is an explosion of complex activity in the brain and nervous system that stimulates an enormous amount of pleasure through the release of neurotransmitters and the contraction of certain muscles. Of note is that there is a center of the brain that governs behavioral control that is completely shut down for the moments of orgasm that provides a layer of symbolic interpretation connected with total and utter surrender to the bliss and pleasure that life has to offer.

It is this spectacular level of bliss that is represented by the orgasm; however, most dreams that involve orgasm often relate to the physiological experience of having one in the sleep state or being unable to achieve one in the dream state. In the former experience, a sleep orgasm may be the body’s way of tapping into a natural mechanism for stress relief and sexual expression, and it may be this very physiological need that gives rise to the erotic dreams that create the experience. Many men describe sexual dreams in which they can never achieve the orgasm they desire, and this may have physiological elements as well, but may also represent a level of bliss and ecstasy that they are unable to cultivate in life that may connect to other passions and self-expression that have nothing to do with the sex act. While neuroscience provides a great deal of understanding of how sex, arousal, and orgasm function within the brain, the actual reason for and presence of this phenomenon remains a mystery, and this includes its presence in the dream state.... It symbolizes your aspirations, your deepest desires, the ultimate meaning of your actions. Not surprisingly, except in Egypt, the sky has always been associated with the masculine, to the active and to the spirit (the land, however, is linked to the feminine and passive).

If in dreams you look at the sky during daylight, it is a sign of openness and clarity in your aims. The night sky, in turn, indicates order, and balance when it is starry. For Jung, at nightfall, the sky was the most appropriate place for the subject to project her unconscious. The symbolism of the constellations and zodiac signs, therefore, are archetypal expressions of the subject’s inner world.

Many oneiric superstitions agree that dreaming of a blue sky heralds good luck.

If the sky is a dominant feature in your dream, you may be thinking about the purpose of your life. A star-studded night sky may represent the unconscious, whereas the daytime sky may represent cosmic, rather than ordinary, awareness, giving you an insight into your place in the world.

If the sky is dark, this reflects moodiness and hardship but if the sky is bright, joy and the prospect of a respite from worries are heralded. The sky can also signify what is unattainable and beyond your reach. Jung regarded the night sky as highly significant in dreams because the symbolism of the constellations and the signs of the zodiac are archetypal representations of the inner world of the unconscious. According to traditional dream-lore, to dream of a red sky predicts disaster for the nation, to dream of a cloudy sky spells misfortune, whilst to dream of a blue sky brings good luck.

Clouds in dreams can either indicate feelings of joy and inspiration, or they can suggest that you are feeling overshadowed by someone or something. Furthermore, they suggest that you may be suffering from a hidden depression.... The Element Encyclopedia

Skyscraper

This image indicates expansion to higher levels of conscious awareness. Any building is a reflection of the consciousness of human beings.

If a house in a dream symbolizes your personal sense of self, each successively larger building can be thought of as an expansion of this consciousness. In this way, a skyscraper is the ultimate expression of human consciousness, reaching from the ground to the heavens.

The skyscraper is also a very American icon and is directly connected to the explosion of urbanization that marked the movement into the current modern era. When steel began to be mass-produced, it paved the way for the bustling city environment to push upward. This ascension then is symbolic of the consciousness of humankind erupting toward higher levels of awareness and intellectual functioning.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

Teeth Falling Out

You are feeling insecure about some area of your life. Teeth serve three primary functions. They allow us to process our food so we can nurture ourselves. They express joy when revealed in a smile, and they can indicate aggression when exposed in a snarl. All of these things—nurturance, joy, and protection—connect directly to security and well-being.

If individuals cannot nurture themselves, attract loving connections, and protect themselves from danger, the basic constructs of a secure life are not likely to be available to them. Without these three important parts of life, fear will prevail. Therefore, when this dream image appears, issues of personal security are at the forefront of your unconscious expression. There are various levels of intensity associated with this symbol. It can fluctuate from a slightly loose tooth to having all your teeth crumble out of your mouth in a bloody mess.

The scale of intensity of the dream will indicate the amount of fear being expressed. Whether it is a general fear of being out of control, looking bad, aging, or some other issue of unmet needs, the appearance of this dream indicates underlying insecurity in some area of your waking life.

The teeth are used for chewing, and this association can indicate a need to “chew on something for a while,” as in mulling over a choice or course of action. “Sinking your teeth into something” refers to taking on life wholeheartedly. Losing your teeth in a dream could indicate an inability or unwillingness to do so. Losing our teeth as children is such a powerful rite of passage. On some level, losing your teeth in a dream will connect to the process of growing up, even in adulthood.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

Teeth Falling Out Or Crumbling

This dream might have a physical origin in people gritting or grinding their teeth during sleep. Freud suggested that dreams of teeth falling out are related to fears of castration, but women have this dream as often as men, suggesting that tooth troubles in dreams are related to hidden anger, with a dreamer acting out the clenching of teeth. Other dream analysts believe the dream reflects anxiety about appearance and how others perceive you. Teeth can also represent a means of assimilating knowledge so it can be used. Teeth are the first instruments of the digestive system, so in dreams they represent the acquisition of knowledge.

Losing teeth is a common symbol in a dream, indicating a change in the way the dreamer assimilates what is learned.... The Element Encyclopedia

Tending A Fire

In dreams in which you are tending a fire, try to remember how much attention it needed from you; did it burn vigorously or did you have to fan it, stoke and feed it fuel to keep it alight? If you had to keep it alight, perhaps some passion or desire in your waking life is flickering or waning, and you need to take action to energize it; or have the demands of your working life forced you to neglect your real passions, be they people or interests. Remember lighting fire dreams represent the birth of creative energy, so how you tend and control the fire is significant.

If you are conscious of the flame of the fire, this suggests an awareness of your own strength and energy.

If you are aware of the heat of the fire, you are aware of someone else’s strong feelings.... The Element Encyclopedia

The Element Of Fire

Fire is often considered the most fearsome and powerful of the four elements because it not only devours, causing pain and destruction, it also purifies, cleanses and illuminates.

In dreams, fire is a potent symbol of the passion of strong emotion and burning love, as well as of new beginnings. It has many different and conflicting meanings, and interpretation is sometimes difficult. Standing in, or being in, flames can therefore suggest the burning out of old attitudes or experiences to make way for the new; but such a dream could also represent your fears of a new phase in life, your own personal suffering for your beliefs, or that you are consumed by destructive emotions, such as passion or envy. Sometimes interpretation is easier; for example, if a house is burning down or there is a forest fire, this suggests you are consumed by passion. The exact interpretation will depend on whether the fire is being controlled or not.

If fire figures in your dream, consider whether your emotions have got out of control. Are you being a hot head? Is your passion burning?

A controlled dream fire can also symbolize security. The fireplace or hearth is the heart of the home and the center of warmth, and to dream of it may show that you feel comfortable with yourself. Freud said that fire was a symbol of the libido and passion, and to dream of poking a fire represented sexual arousal. Jung, on the other hand, said that fire suggested intuition and psychological transformation. Just as the alchemists used fire to transform base metal into gold, so fire is a symbol for personal growth. It destroys the past but lights the way for the future. It is the eternal flame in the temple of the soul and from the fire the phoenix of hope arises. Baptism by fire signifies a new awareness of spiritual power and transformation. Sometimes fire can be a warning of illness. It is also associated with the astrological signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.

If a fire is put out by water, this suggests physical energy being restrained by the cooler processes of thought.... The Element Encyclopedia
