See cul de sac.
You have come to the end of one course of action; it is time to choose again.
A project, a dream, or plans for the future will come to a dead stop. Other symbols in the dream should reveal whether you need to scrap these plans entirely or go back to the beginning and start over.
Dreaming of a dead end that is marked by a wall is showing that it may be time to re-evaluate a situation in your waking life.
A dead end can indicate that a current situation is not working out quite as you may have expected and a feeling of disappointment is likely if you are to continue.
To dream of a dead end that is marked by trees or an open space implies that there is another way to go that will produce a fruitful outcome.
In a dream, a dead end usually represents the obvious, namely the sense of one’s efforts coming to naught, or pursuing a line of research and reaching a “dead end.”
If you dreamed of coming to a dead end street, your dream is telling you that you are following “a road to nowhere” in your real life. You must make changes.
If you come to a dead end in your dream, your unconscious is telling you there is no way of escaping your fears, even though you feel that it is vital for you to flee. The same interpretation applies a number of similar dreams; whether you are caught in quicksand, forced to carry an impossibly heavy weight, suddenly become paralyzed, find yourself rooted to the spot and powerless to do anything, or find that your feet have become heavy or stuck in the mud when trying to flee someone or something.
If you have such disturbing dreams it is possible that you are facing some kind of emotional crisis in your life that requires a drastic decision; for example, whether you should leave your partner or not.
If you are being chased, identifying who or what was chasing you or why you need to escape may help you decide what course of action to take in real life.
If you don’t know who the person chasing you is, this may stand for certain unpalatable aspects of your personality which have been repressed but which are now forcing you to deal with them. Alternatively, your unconscious may be reflecting on your feelings of powerlessness in regard to a difficult situation in your waking life. Do you feel as if you are caught between a rock and a hard place?

A futile path, which, if pursued, will only result in wasted energy.
Feeling trapped and unable to move. As such, an alternative type of cage emblem that offers at least one way out, namely, the way by which you came.
