Blue is a cool, calming color, often used for relaxation and meditation. Historically, it bears associations with spirituality and is representative of truth, intellect, and justice. Within the world of dreams, blue is often thought to be a symbol of the conscious mind, especially if the dream features blue skies. A shimmering bright blue may suggest feelings of well-being and tranquility.
Muddy shades of blue may denote depression or moodiness. A darker shade of blue points more to the unconscious and a readiness to liberate yourself from repressed feelings. Dark angry blue may suggest feelings of isolation and an undependable character.
If you see anyone wearing dark blue in your dream, it should act as a general warning not to be too trusting in waking life.

Pale blue is traditionally the color in which baby boys are clothed, so, if you are about to become a parent, could you be thinking about a baby son? In alchemy, blue is the color of the moon, standing in for silver, and blue is also the color of the soul.

In the Orient, blue is the equivalent of black and is considered the color of the underworld.
In Egypt, the underworld of Osiris is depicted in blue or black.
The Sufi (a mystical circle, followers of Mohammed) saw blue as the center of a flame, the expression of the highest form of passion.

It is the opposite of the emotional red, because it is “cool” and “analytical.” A soft, gentle blue is typically a female color. Blue is a symbol of the emodonal calm and contentment that we all would like to attain. It indicates that you live wisely and with compassion. Blue stands for intellectual goals and insight, faith, and spiritual maturity.

Blue is the color of communication and connects to the body through the throat and the thyroid gland. There is a connection between our metabolic activity, which is regulated by the thyroid, and the effectiveness of our communication. Through our voice, we communicate with others, but it is through our energy levels that we commune with our immediate environments. Other communication concepts associated with this color are the blueprints that communicate the structure of something not yet created.
The call of a hospital emergency is known as a “code blue.” Before a brochure or magazine page is printed, the early version used to finalize the design and layout is known as the “blue line.” When blood circulation diminishes due to a drop in body temperature, the lips will turn blue and communication will be hindered. These are but a few examples that may not relate to a specific image; however, when the color blue is prominent in your dream, incorporate issues of communication into your interpretation.
Blue denotes peace and serenity. Darker blues may indicate the need to give voice to your knowledge. Indigo blue combines violet with dark blue and thus denotes the expression of your mystical vision. Royal blue signifies nobility.
Light blues: our sense of intuition, having a wide awareness of life; religious feelings. Also coolness of nature. Often seen in visions of the womb as a blue grotto or woman with halo of blue, so connects with prenatal and infant relationship with mother. Dark blues: in many women’s dreams, threatening men appear dressed in dark blue or navy blue overalls; depression; negative thoughts or intuition. Idioms: blue film; blue funk, blue pencil; blue stocking; feel blue; out of the blue.
(1) Blue may sometimes symbolize the universal or collective unconscious (as distinct from the individual unconscious).. Perhaps the dream is asking you to base your life on intuitions that come from a deep source within your psyche.
(2) Alternatively, blue may represent the power of the conscious mind, particularly if it is the blue of the sky.
(3) Dark blue may be associated with depression - ‘the blues’.
(4) Blue clothing may symbolize masculinity. Tony Crisp (in his Dream Dictionary) observes that women sometimes dream of threatening men dressed in blue - dark blue or navy. Such a dream should motivate the dreamer to get in touch with her animus and enter into dialogue with it, with a view to establishing a more positive relationship both with the masculine in herself and also with real men in the external world. Perhaps examining her relationship with her father will be the key to understanding her negative attitude towards men and masculinity.

(6) At an advanced level of mystical awareness, I understand blue may represent the primal energy from which the universal life-force comes. (In mythology the primeval ocean is that from which all other things arise; though, strictly speaking, the primeval ocean is not itself a thing: it is without form or shape but contains the potential for all forms and shapes.)
