Baby

Many people from time to time will have babies or small children in their dreams.

If these newborns are strangers to you, you can assume that they represent you. You are the baby and the dream is telling you something about your development in a particular area of your life. At times of great change and renewal, a baby may appear in a dream and represent your potential and a new beginning. Some of the meaning of the dream may be obtained by considering what the baby looked like and was doing. Generally, babies represent innocence and are symbols of the purest form of a human whose possibilities are endless. However, if the babies appearance is odd, and if your interactions with it are bizarre or unusual, you need to consider your own well-being (psychologically) and think about what personal experiences and psychological hang-ups have prevented you from growing.... Baby

General: one s own feelings and urges at that level of development—such as possessiveness, joy, curiosity, innocent love, infant trauma; feelings of helplessness; vulnerability, lack of responsibility; being cared for. Also a new phase of life; a new idea; new activity—as when we say someone has a new baby, meaning a new project or business. When with a couple: the marriage—what is created in a relationship; the life process in us, based on reproduction. In a woman’s dream: desire for baby; responsibility of caring for baby; worries about having healthy baby. In a man’s dream: desire for parenthood; weight of responsibility; fear of inability to produce. In child’s dream: themselves at that age; feelings about a baby sibling.

Example: ‘I have my own baby who is lying in a cot in a bedroom looking very weak and pathetic with eyes closed. I know that he or she is getting weaker and weaker through lack of food and care. In fact the baby seems to be dying.

The feelings of guilt are terrible because I know it is my responsibility to do something to make it well. I keep saying to myself I must go and feed that baby—but I don’t. I just keep worrying and feeling guilty’ (JC). Because of circumstances we may not have been able to satisfy all our babyhood needs—we may have been weaned earlier than we wanted, our need for attention may have been unsatisfied—and these are shown as a baby in our dreams, as with JC. Dreams such as the above show how we sense the need of this pan of us to be cared for and nourished.

If some of these earliest needs are not met in some way, the development of our enthusiasm, our pleasure and ability to be involved and self-giving, may be cunailed.

Example: ‘I am 48, have two children in their late teens and definitely DO NOT want another baby. Nevertheless I have a recurring dream in which I am always in labour, experiencing no pain, and although there are nursing staff I am in some sort of laboratory, although everything is very pleasant. I never actually give birth and when I wake I always have a vague feeling of disappointment’ (VI). This dreamer’s conscious decision to have no more children is in conflict with her biological urge for another baby.

Example: My mouth was full of what looked like liver. It was also coming out of my left ear. When I turned away from the mirror I saw medical people in caps and gowns who kept telling me to bear down. I then gave birth to a baby out of my mouth. I am an invalid and very sick at present’ (Mr MS). This man’s dream is about preparation for death.

The baby is the extraction of all that can live on after his present life is left behind in death. ... A Guide to Dreams and Sleep Experiences

Baby

See Child.

A dream known to be good, good news, success, and advancement.

A wish is fulfilled, a childhood wish. Or, it may suggest that the dreamer is childish and immature, wanting to be taken care of. Often this image corresponds to a feeling of helplessness. This is also the symbol for a loved one (“my baby,” “sugar baby,” etc.).

If the baby is perceived as a threat, the dreamer might be afraid of an accidental pregnancy, as in Abortion. Also, it may suggest fear of letting go of one’s children.

In another context, longing for rebirth and a new beginning. Always ask yourself what you would do differently if you could start over again.

If the baby is someone else’s in the dream, we need to be aware of that person’s ability to be hurt, or that they may be innocent of something. Psychologically we are in touch with the innocent, curious side of ourselves, with the part that neither wants nor needs responsibility.

Baby

General Meaning: Babies have a twofold meaning. They represent being given a new responsibility. Secondly they speak of having trust, vulnerability and innocence.

• In a negative light, they speak of immaturity.

• Dreams • Positive: A baby speaks of a new life and a new aspect in your life and ministry.

A baby boy often speaks of a teaching and leadership type of ministry, whereas a baby girl speaks of a more prophetic or creative emphasis in your ministry.

• If you dream of a baby that suddenly matures beyond its age (for example it is a newborn that can walk already) this indicates that the new thing that has taken place in your life is going to mature fast.

• If you dream of having twins, this speaks of having either a ministry or gaining a responsibility that is twofold or that has two different aspects to it.

• The dream is indicating that you should nurture both aspects and not take one or the other.

• If you dream that someone else you know hands you their baby, this could speak of that person giving you either their responsibility or ministry mandate.

• This depends of course on what this person would represent in your dream.

If they are an image to you of a ministry type, then it would speak of the Lord giving you this kind of ministry also.

• If the person giving you the baby is a spiritual parent, then this would speak of them handing their mandate over to you.

• If the person handing you the baby is someone that has a negative connotation in your life, then this would be negative and speak of you being put under pressure to take something you do not want or something that is not of the Lord.

Negative: If you dream that you lose your child or baby, it means that you have neglected and lost the promotion in the spiritual realm that God was giving you.

• If you have been trusting God for something specific and dream that you lose a baby, it could mean that you have lost your faith or that a curse is causing that blessing to be lost.

• If you dream of neglecting your baby, it means you have not been using your spiritual gifts.

• If you dream that you are taking another person’s baby, it means that you have taken on responsibilities that are not your own.

• A baby and child also indicate that this spiritual gift is yet young in you. It means that you are yet immature in that calling.

Visions Positive:

Babies speak of a new life and also of trust. They speak of innocence and purity. They are not yet corrupted and have strong faith. This is why Jesus told us to be like little children. Children also speak of the blessing of the Lord.

• If you see someone in the spirit with many children around them, it could be that the Lord is calling them to become spiritual parents. It can also indicate that the Lord has many blessings in store for them.

• 1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babies, desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow by it • Babies receive with innocence what they are fed and hunger for it.

To see someone as a baby would indicate that the Lord wants them to receive without asking questions.

To trust the Lord completely as Jesus explains in this passage: • Matthew 11:25 At that [kairos] time Jesus answered and said, I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden • these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to babies.

• If you see someone you are ministering to as a baby in the arms of the Lord, the message is that the Lord wants them to rest in Him.

To be a baby and to trust that He will care for them.

Negative: If you see a baby in the spirit, it could mean that the person you are ministering to is still a baby in their spiritual walk.

If I am counseling a person and see them as a baby, this could also indicate hurts from the past that started at that age that need inner healing.

• If you have a vision that is negative then it could also speak of birthing things that were not conceived by the Lord, but rather by the flesh or from the enemy.

Baby

(see also Birth, Child)

(1) A baby commonly appears in the dreams of pregnant women. Usually in such cases no symbolism needs to be looked for.

(2) In other women’s dreams a baby may express (unconscious) desire for a baby.

(3) The baby may represent vour own vulnerability, or vour need for love. This applies to both men and women. When the ‘babv’ within vou - the hurt, frustrated self - cries out, it is very difficult to look at yourself objectively, but an effort must be made to see this frightened or rejected child as a part of yourself that needs your love. It may be that this self-pitving part of you is crying out for another person’s love, but in the first place, at least, the love must be given by you: you (the conscious, decision-making ego) must positively love yourself (the sensitive, hurt ‘child’ within your psyche). Only that way will the child in you grow up and mature.

(4) A baby may symbolize your pure, innocent, true self: what vou rcallv are - or were intended to be - as distinct from what various kinds of conditioning and wrong choices have made you.

(5) The babv may represent some new development in your personality or in your personal life.... A Dictionary of Dream Symbols

Baby

Dreaming of a baby means that you are happy and alive, wanting to create. It represents something new in your life that is calling your attention. It also denotes that new ideas or feelings are rising from your inner self. On the other hand, it might reveal a deep desire to return to your origins and discover your true personality. In this regard, it symbolizes the pure and uncorrupted nature of the subject. Perhaps, the dream manifests that you are innocent of an indictment that concerns you.

If you are turned into a baby it may reflect need for love and protection. Of course, this dream can also express the paternal or maternal instincts and the desire to make them come true. (See MOTHER, WIFE, and CHEST)

Baby

A baby is a new idea, relationship, event, direction, project, etc.

The essential meaning of a baby as a symbol connects to the new life it represents. Babies grow up to become adult human beings, but in their infancy, they embody all the potential that has yet to be expressed. In this way, a baby in a dream is likely to be expressing some new chapter in your life that is just beginning and has yet to unfold into full manifestation.

The age of the baby may give clues as to when the consciousness that it represents was born.

A one- year-old baby may indicate a new shift in your life that began a year before you had the dream.... Complete Dictionary of Dreams

Baby

Babies are very complex dream symbols that represent everything from the rebirth of the self, the emergence of new possibilities in your life, or being rendered helpless and vulnerable. Even a new baby in the dreamer’s life may be indicated by this dream, but not always.

This symbol often shows up when the dreamer is entering a new phase of life, which is like giving birth to oneself. Bad dreams in which a baby is deformed, has injuries, or is stillborn are not uncommon for parents who are anxious about the pregnancy, especially for expectant couples who have never had children before. Even though it feels like a dreadfully horrible nightmare, it’s usually nothing to be taken seriously, unless it becomes a nightly event. (Also see Embryo, Miscarriage, Pregnant).... Baby

If a baby is born or appears in your dream, were you the proud parent? If you were, this suggests a budding talent or creative potential that is just emerging.

If you give birth to two or more babies, this may symbolize groups of ideas or personal talents. On the other hand, it could also suggest that you need to lavish extra care and attention on your ‘brainchild’ if it is to be a success; if the dream baby is premature, this message is stressed further.

If you are looking after someone else’s baby in your dream, it could indicate that in waking life you feel as if you have been left ‘holding the baby’ in some way. Did you enjoy holding the baby or feel panicked by the responsibility? If you felt anxious, maybe you are worried about the responsibility that has been placed upon your shoulders in waking life. Pay attention to the behavior of the baby.

If the baby is happy, this suggests that you are fulfilling the needs of your brainchild, but if the baby is distressed, this suggests that your idea, project or talent isn’t being developed or cared for.

If you lost or injured a baby in your dream, this can suggest a loss of confidence on your part and an inability to put in the hard work required to see a project to completion.

If you are the parent of a young baby and you have this kind of dream, it could indicate that you are finding it hard to cope with the demands and responsibilities of caring for a baby in waking life. Your unconscious could also be highlighting your sense of guilt about not being a perfect enough parent and your desperate need for time to yourself.

If, however, procreation in waking life is not at the forefront of your conscious mind, dream babies may be an expression of an unconscious counterpart trying to acquaint you with the baby, or your own inner child, within. This is an aspect of yourself that is dependent on others for financial or emotional support, or the part of you that longs to be reborn and relive your life again. Or perhaps this ‘baby’ is a part of the personality or aspect that has not been ‘born’ or expressed before.

If your dream baby is born with an adult body and a baby head, this suggests an approach to life that is still immature.

If your dream baby is born with a baby body and an adult head, it suggests adult intellect but emotional and sexual immaturity.

If the baby is beautiful, gifted or remarkable in some way, this represents the emergence of personal insight and previously unconscious elements of yourself.

A baby boy in your dream suggests the birth of a new phase of self- expression and new activities and achievements, whereas a baby girl suggests new aspects of feeling and relationships with others.

If the baby is crying, this indicates that your fundamental needs for love, support, comfort and happiness are not being met. Is there something distressing you at a feeling level that you are not acknowledging? If you drop a baby in your dreams, this suggests carelessness in dealing with your basic needs, especially as it concerns connection with others. It can also refer to a mistake or missed opportunity, or a feeling that someone has dropped or lost interest in you.

If the baby is smiling, this suggests a deep level of comfort, security and satisfaction.... The Element Encyclopedia

Conscious Of Time

It is hard to know how the passage of time is expressed in dreams, as you are not in real time when you dream, since situations or adventures that appear to take a long period of time can be dreamed of in moments. Any dream in which you are aware of the passage of time indicates a progress report on your life, in that the 24-hour cycle of day and night has a parallel with both physical and spiritual birth and development. Dawn signifies birth and beginnings; the morning signifies childhood and potential; midday, middle age and maturity; the afternoon, late middle age and relaxation; and the evening, old age, with the dead of night suggesting death. A dream in which you suddenly realize it is afternoon could therefore suggest that you need to relax or that time has passed by so quickly and you haven’t achieved all that you hoped you would achieve by late middle age.

Arriving too early or too late in your dream for an appointment may be significant in your waking life; if you were too early, you should ask yourself if you are worrying too much and overplanning some aspect of your life.

If you were too late, you should consider whether you are worried in waking life about missing the boat or being the last person to be informed about something important.... The Element Encyclopedia

Consider Common Dream Symbolism First

If there’s any such thing as a shortcut to finding dream meaning, this is it. The majority of dreams convey meaning using one of just a few forms of symbolism. So, chances are that your dream symbol represents something in your life or mind in one of the following ways, which you’ll begin to recognize as you interpret more dreams. When searching for a symbol’s meaning, always consider these most common forms of symbolism first.

Literal Translation
If the dream symbol (person, event, object, action, setting, etc.) exists in your real life, it might represent that actual element of your waking life. For example, your mother who was hugging you might represent a particular time she hugged you, or her affection toward you in general. Consider whether the dream symbol might represent the same thing in your current life, past, or imagined future, and whether your feelings about the dream symbol remind you of feelings you felt about something in your real life (perhaps recently).

Emotions
The emotions you feel regarding the dream symbol are probably the same as the emotions you feel about whatever the symbol represents in your real life. For example, if you feel overwhelmed by a swarm of insects in a dream, the swarm might represent your to-do list that feels overwhelming in real life. (See more about emotions in the Emotions symbol category.)

Abundance or Lack
A dream symbol can represent something that you feel you have too much of, do too much of, or want less of in your real life. Alternatively, your dream symbol could represent something that you feel you lack, do too little of, or want more of. If your dream contained a pleasant experience (such as relaxing on a beach), your subconscious mind could be pointing to your desire for more relaxation in your life. If your dream was unpleasant (such as someone judging you), your subconscious mind may have been focused on trying to avoid that kind of experience in real life.

Personal Symbolism
A dream symbol may convey meaning that you personally associate with it based on your experiences, feelings, and other influences (as described in Subconscious Influences on Dream Symbolism). For example, one person might associate a baby with vulnerability and someone else might associate it with growth.

A particular dream symbol may bring more than one meaning to mind for you. For example, money might bring to mind how fun it is to spend, but you might also think of money as power or a solution to financial problems. If the first meaning that comes to mind doesn’t seem to relate to anything in your real life and doesn’t resonate intuitively, explore additional meanings (TOOL: Caveman Explanation is helpful for this).

Importance
The symbols you tend to notice in a dream are often the most important ones. So a good place to start when exploring your dream is with the symbols that stood out. Symbols may stand out because they’re so huge you can’t miss them (like a boulder falling on your house) or they could be small details that happen to stand out in your mind (like the chipped rim of a teacup). Sometimes an important symbol is highlighted in the dream with a bright color, illuminated with light, pointed to with an arrow, or emphasized in some other way.

Urgency
If there’s a sense of urgency involved in the dream, the dream might represent an urgent matter that you feel needs attention in your real life (or one that you fear or imagine needing attention). For example, a dream about trying to put out a fire at work could point to a real-life problem that arose suddenly at work that you feel requires quick action to avoid catastrophe.

Subject Context
A dream might be about you or it could represent your perception of a friend or a recent situation—even in the media, on TV, or in a movie. For example, in a dream about a girl wearing a cheerful flowered dress, the girl could represent a happier version of yourself or your desire to feel more cheerful. Alternatively, she might represent a friend who was in a happy mood when you saw her yesterday, an upbeat song you just heard, or an optimistic character you saw in a TV show last night.

Time Context
A dream symbol could represent something in your past, present, or imagined future. Look for elements that bring to mind a particular time frame, either in the characteristics of the symbol itself or in the other things associated with it in the dream (people, activities, clothes, places, music, books, etc.). Time-related cues could include things like hair or clothing styles, a person appearing younger or older than their current age in real life, technologies of a different era, or personal cues such as the cowboy boots you wore at age seven.

Emotional Exaggeration
When a dream portrays a real-life situation that’s particularly emotional for the dreamer, sometimes the situation shows up as exaggerated in the dream. In other words, the subconscious mind may amplify the real-life situation, “making a mountain out of a molehill,” expressing how strongly you feel about the dream’s subject matter. For example, if in real life you saw a baby snake in your yard, and you’re very afraid of snakes, the snake might show up in a dream as a huge serpent attacking you. So, consider whether a particular dream symbol could represent a similar but less extreme situation in your waking life, about which you feel strong emotion.... Common Dreams

Performing one’s obligatory prayers (arb. FarQh) in a dream means providingthe necessary care for one’s family, while performing the supplementary prayers (arb. Sunnah) means working to provide extra comforts for one’s family.

The same interpretation is provided for performing the congregational night prayers of the month of Ramadan known in Arabic as Tarawlh. Seeing that in a dream means taking care of the family needs and bringing comfort to their hearts. During a congregational prayer, if the rows are straight in the dream, it means that such people are in a constant state of celebrating God’s praises. Performing the special prayers of celebrating God’s praises, known in Arabic as Tasablh in a dream means a receiving a gift, an endowment of divine grace, blessings and prosperity. Performing a special prayer of soliciting guidance for a specific need or cir168 cumstance in a dream (arb. Istikh.arah) means dispelling doubt or confusion, receiving guidance for one’s problem, or it could denote the success of a project.

If the one performing such a special prayer is known to follow the guidance of a spiritual teacher or shaikh, then his dream means lowering of his spiritual status, for a true seeker has no questions. Performing a special prayer of greeting the mosque in a dream means spending one’s money to help his relatives and the needy people among his friends. If one sees himself praying while drunk in a dream, it means that he will give a false testimony in court. Ifone sees himself praying without the required ablution in a dream, it means that his religious performance is worthless and that his adherence is despicable.

If one sees himself standing in prayers toward the wrong direction in a dream, it means that he does the opposite of what he is required to do, or that he acts the opposite of what God Almighty has ordained.

If one sees himself turning his back toward God’s House in a dream, it means that he is an apostate who rejects God’s religion or that he does not care about it.

If one sees the people in the mosque facing another direction in his dream, it means that their leader or judge will be dismissed from his office, or that he neglects to follow the prescribed rules of his religion, or that he follows his own mind and desire in making religious interpretations. However, performingone’s prayers and turning with helplessness toward any direction and crying for help in a dream means seeking God’s nearness, or asking to be accepted by other believers for an unacceptable indulgence or a non-permissible opinion, or it could mean travelling in the direction he faced in his dream. Ifone sees himself praying eastward or westward and beyond the point of God’s House in Mecca in a dream, it means that he is a despicable person who is full of arrogance, who backbites and slanders others and who is daring to indulge in sin and disobedience to his Lord. Ifone could not find the direction ofthe Ka’aba in his dream, it means that he has doubt about his faith. However, if one sees himself facing the holy Ka’aba in the dream, it means that he is walking on the straight path. Hone sees himselfwearing a white garb and reading the Qur’an in the dream, it means that he will join the caravan of pilgrims to Mecca. God knows best.

Harvest Time

Dreams of vegetables may also feature scenes of the garden or field in which the produce was harvested. In such cases, the imagery suggests the importance of following a natural cycle within a project, career or relationship. Your dream is urging you to be conscious of choosing the right time to plant, tend or harvest. In some cases, dreams about vegetables can indicate hard toil without reward, but if the dream involves planting or tending vegetables this is a sign of inner strength that will bring rich reward. If, however, you dream of cutting the heads off plants, you may have been duped or imposed upon in some way in waking life.

To dream about a harvest suggests you are going to reap the rewards of something you have done previously. For example, you may have worked hard and are now in a position in which finance is not your main concern. Dream harvests can therefore indicate looking back to the past to reap the rewards of the future, but they can also mean looking towards to the future in order to use the wisdom and experience you have gained. The other circumstances in your dream will dictate the interpretation. Much, of course, depends on the quality and quantity of the harvest, but a rich harvest indicates abundance, fruitfulness and fertility.

If you are taking part in a harvest or are attending a harvest festival, this suggests a celebration of your life energy; enjoy it. A poor harvest, on the other hand, may suggest disappointment and disillusionment.... The Element Encyclopedia

Jung’s First Dream

Jung himself apparently went through a difficult separation from his mother in early childhood that had repercussions for his social health later in life. Jung’s mother was said to have experienced a depressive illness at this time, which resulted in a separation of several months from Jung when he was three years old. In her absence, Jung was cared for by his aunt but he was troubled by the separation and his anxiety is reflected in the lack of maternal protectiveness in a dream he recalled from this period and published in his autobiographical Memories, Dreams, Reflections. As well as his relationship to his mother, this dream—which occurred when Jung was just three or four years old—reveals much about his family, culture and life, as well as about his relationship with his mother and father.

‘In the dream I was in this meadow. Suddenly I discovered a dark, rectangular, stone-lined hole in the ground. I had never seen it before. I ran forward curiously and peered down into it. Then I saw a stone stairway leading down. Hesitantly and fearfully, I descended. At the bottom was a doorway with a round arch, closed off by a green curtain. It was a big, heavy curtain of worked stuff like brocade, and it looked very sumptuous. Curious to see what might be hidden behind, I pushed it aside. I saw before me in the dim light a rectangular chamber about thirty feet long. The ceiling was arched and of hewn stone. The floor was laid with flagstones, and in the center a red carpet ran from the entrance to a low platform. On this platform stood a wonderfully rich golden throne. I am not certain, but perhaps a red cushion lay on the seat. It was a magnificent throne, a real king’s throne in a fairy tale. Something was standing on it which I thought at first was a tree trunk twelve to fifteen feet high and about one and a half to two feet thick. It was a huge thing, reaching almost to the ceiling. But it was of a curious composition: it was made of skin and naked flesh, and on top there was something like a rounded head with no face and no hair. On the very top of the head was a single eye, gazing motionlessly upward.

It was fairly light in the room, although there were no windows and no apparent source of light. Above the head, however, was an aura of brightness. The thing did not move, yet I had the feeling that it might at any moment crawl off the throne like a worm and creep toward me. I was paralyzed with terror. At that moment I heard from outside and above me my mother’s voice. She called out, “Yes, just look at him.

That is the man-eater!” That intensified my terror still more, and I awoke sweating and scared to death…

Later in his life Jung wrote the following about his reaction to this childhood dream. ‘From then on I always felt mistrustful when the word “love” was spoken. The feeling I associated with “woman” was for a long time of innate unreliability. Father on the other hand meant reliability and powerlessness.’... The Element Encyclopedia

Time

How you use your time is a hint of your stage of development and your personality. It symbolizes how you organize and plan your life.

It is meaningful to know what time period your dream represents—noon or night.7 Summer or winter? Also the century could be important.

As happens in many dreams, time sometimes seems to stand still (stagnation) or is passing quickly (stress).

If time is standing still, it could mean it’s time to slow down, to look at something more closely. Time speeding up—as in a time-lapse photo—often symbolizes expanded awareness.... Little Giant Encyclopedia

Time

Psychological / emotional perspective: For time to be significant in a dream there is usually the necessity to measure it in some way, or to use a period of time as a measurement. Usually we are only aware of the passage of time – often symbolized by a clock or watch – or that a particular time is meaningful in the dream, it is part of the dream scenario.

The time in the dream may symbolize a particular period in our life as follows: the daylight hours will thus suggest our conscious waking life. Where several days (or other long periods) appear to have passed we are conscious that some other activity, which is not particularly relevant to us, has been going on in the dream.

If we think of our lives as being a day long, the hours of the day will refer to a specific time in our lives. Thus, afternoon is a time of life when we can put our experience to good use; evening shows a more relaxed time; mid-day indicates we are fully conscious and aware of our activities. In the morning the first part of our life or our early experience is being highlighted, whereas night may be a period of depression or secrecy. We may be introspective or simply at rest. Time

Time is an energy which enables us to experience and refine our creative power. All life is dependent upon cycles of time; everything has its own season. From birth to death is the cycle of life, with many smaller cycles in between. We are continuously moving through the process of time; all is dynamic, changing; nothing is static.

It is the perpetuator of illusion; all things dependent upon it are temporary, ever fleeting.

To flow with life is to use the energy of time to its fullest; to effortlessly manifest our goals and desires. We are interdimensional beings, unlimited by time when we understand our higher nature.... The Dream Books Symbols

Time

Many terminally ill people dream of clocks that are marking the passage of time which, inexorably, brings them closer to death. On the other hand, the feeling that you are running out of time during the events of a dream is a clear indication that you are living too rushed.

If time stops, it reveals the need to deliberate deep within yourself. In contrast, in the event that you dream that you have too much time, it signifies that you are little motivated and that you strayed from your main objective.

As you approach spiritual truth, time will be of less importance. Sometimes, in dreams, the past, the present, and the future mix within themselves to offer a unique feeling. When you concentrate, the same occurs. The less consciousness you have of the passage of time, the more profound the meditation of the mind will be.... The Big Dictionary of Dreams

Time

Your dreams may sometimes remind you that every day is precious and you need to make the most of the time that remains for you.

The passage of time is one of those basic conditions of life that we all take for granted. Yet, as Jung observed, whilst the true home of the psyche is outside of both time and space, the annals of sleep are full of anxiety dreams in which time exerts a relentless pressure. Meanwhile, symbols of time such as the clock, calendar, day and night, light and darkness, and the seasons have a special significance in dream interpretation because they can all parallel the stages of human life

A mundane interpretation of dreams featuring symbols of time may be that your dreaming mind is prompting you to remember to do something or to wake up in time. In some cases, your dreams may place you not in the present but in the past, or you may visualize a scenario set far in the future.

If you dreamed of a past occurrence, this may indicate nostalgia or be an attempt to remind you of an unresolved emotional problem.

If you dream of being fast-forwarded into the future, your dream may have been warning you of a course that your life may take if you carry out a particular action. See also NATURE AND THE SEASONS; NUMBERS.... The Element Encyclopedia

Time Of Day

If a dream is specifically set during daylight or nighttime, take into account your waking associations with early morning and nighttime.

If you are a night owl, a nighttime dream will have a far more positive interpretation than if you were an early bird. You may also associate daytime with routine and work and nighttime with relaxation and freedom. Dreams that take place in bright daylight also suggest your conscious waking life and feelings of optimism and clarity, and dreams of nighttime can indicate the unconscious as well as negativity and ignorance. Twilight in dreams can suggest a period of uncertainty and possible ambivalence as far as your direction in life is concerned. It may also suggest the afterlife.

Just as the 24-hour day is symbolically linked to the human life cycle, so too are the seasons: spring symbolizes birth and childhood and new beginnings; summer, adulthood; autumn, middle age; and winter, aging and death. The seasons can also signify your state of mind with spring representing optimism; summer, confidence, autumn, relaxation and reward; and winter, retreat. When several days, weeks, months, years or even longer pass in your dream, your unconscious is reflecting changes in your life or suggesting that your focus has currently been on things that are not relevant. Along with the second and minute hands on a clock, these dream images suggest slow and careful progression—or the need for it—in your waking life. Dreams of specific hours of the day may refer to your age, to a regular event in life or to a saying; for example 12 noon is middle age, or may refer to something that happens at that time of day, 11 o’clock may be the eleventh hour and so on. Noon may also be associated with lunch and nourishment, midnight with mystery and 6 o’clock with finishing work. See also NUMBERS.

Time Travel

If you were traveling in time to the past in your dreams, try to remember if you travelled to a time within your life span or to an era before you were born.

Traveling into your own past can be linked to a desire to connect with a situation in your childhood or youth that remains unresolved. Traveling into an era before you are born could suggest the possibility of reincarnation, but also an association between that period in time and your life at the moment. It might be worth getting the history books out to do some studies to see if any connections or lessons emerge. Traveling into the future can indicate impatience but also optimism and anticipation.

If the future scenario was depressing, this represents your fears and anxieties concerning your personal or the world’s future.
